Sums of infinite series involving the Dirichlet lambda function

The Dirichlet lambda function $λ(s)$ is defined for $\mathrm{Re}(s) > 1$ by \[ λ(s) = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} \frac{1}{(2n+1)^s}. \] This function was initially studied by Euler on the real line, where he denoted it by $N(s)$. In this paper, by applying the partial fraction decomposition of $π\tan(πx)$ and explicit evaluations of the integrals \[ \int_0^{\frac{1}{2}} x^{2m-1} \cos(2lπx) dx \quad \text{and} \quad \int_0^{\frac{1}{2}} x^{m-1} \log \cos(πx) dx, \] for positive integers $l$ and $m$, we derive closed-form expressions for several classes of infinite series involving $λ(s)$. We also demonstrate that the values $λ(k)$ for even integers $k \geq 2$ arise as constant terms in the Fourier expansions of Eisenstein series associated with the congruence subgroup \[ Γ_0(2) := \left\{ \begin{pmatrix} a & b c & d \end{pmatrix} \in \operatorname{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z}) : c \equiv 0 \pmod{2} \right\}. \]

MobileRAG: A Fast, Memory-Efficient, and Energy-Efficient Method for On-Device RAG

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has proven effective on server infrastructures, but its application on mobile devices is still underexplored due to limited memory and power resources. Existing vector search and RAG solutions largely assume abundant computation resources, making them impractical for on-device scenarios. In this paper, we propose MobileRAG, a fully on-device pipeline that overcomes these limitations by combining a mobile-friendly vector search algorithm, \textit{EcoVector}, with a lightweight \textit{Selective Content Reduction} (SCR) method. By partitioning and partially loading index data, EcoVector drastically reduces both memory footprint and CPU usage, while the SCR method filters out irrelevant text to diminish Language Model (LM) input size without degrading accuracy. Extensive experiments demonstrated that MobileRAG significantly outperforms conventional vector search and RAG methods in terms of latency, memory usage, and power consumption, while maintaining accuracy and enabling offline operation to safeguard privacy in resource-constrained environments.

On gamma functions with respect to the alternating Hurwitz zeta functions

In 2021, Hu and Kim defined a new type of gamma function $\widetildeΓ(x)$ from the alternating Hurwitz zeta function $ζ_{E}(z,x)$, and obtained some of its properties. In this paper, we shall further investigate the function $\widetildeΓ(x)$, that is, we obtain several properties in analogy to the classical Gamma function $Γ(x)$, including the integral representation, the limit representation, the recursive formula, the special values, the log-convexity, the duplication and distribution formulas, and the reflection equation. Furthermore, we also prove a Lerch-type formula, which shows that the derivative of $ζ_{E}(z,x)$ can be representative by $\widetildeΓ(x)$.

Approximations by special values of multiple cosine and sine functions

Kurokawa and Koyama's multiple cosine function $\mathcal{C}_{r}(x)$ and Kurokawa's multiple sine function $S_{r}(x)$ are generalizations of the classical cosine and sine functions from their infinite product representations, respectively. For any fixed $x\in[0,\frac{1}{2})$, let $$B=\left\{\frac{\log\mathcal{C}_{r}(x)}π~~\bigg|~~r=1,2,3,\ldots\right\}$$ and $$C=\left\{\frac{\log S_r(x)}π~~\bigg|~~r=1,2,3,\ldots\right\}$$ be the sets of special values of $\mathcal{C}_{r}(x)$ and $S_{r}(x)$ at $x$, respectively. In this paper, we will show that the real numbers can be strongly approximated by linear combinations of elements in $B$ and $C$ respectively, with rational coefficients. Furthermore, let $$D=\left\{\frac{ζ_{E}(3)}{π^2},\frac{ζ_{E}(5)}{π^4}, \ldots, \frac{ζ_{E}(2k+1)}{π^{2k}},\ldots; \frac{β(4)}{π^3},\frac{β(6)}{π^5}, \ldots, \frac{β(2k+2)}{π^{2k+1}},\ldots\right\}$$ be the set of special values of Dirichlet's eta and beta functions. We will prove that the set $D$ has a similar approximation property, where the coefficients are values of the derivatives of rational polynomials. Our approaches are inspired by recent works of Alkan (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 143: 3743--3752, 2015) and Lupu-Wu (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 545: Article ID 129144, 2025) as applications of the trigonometric integrals.

A Method for Detecting Legal Article Competition for Korean Criminal Law Using a Case-augmented Mention Graph

As social systems become increasingly complex, legal articles are also growing more intricate, making it progressively harder for humans to identify any potential competitions among them, particularly when drafting new laws or applying existing laws. Despite this challenge, no method for detecting such competitions has been proposed so far. In this paper, we propose a new legal AI task called Legal Article Competition Detection (LACD), which aims to identify competing articles within a given law. Our novel retrieval method, CAM-Re2, outperforms existing relevant methods, reducing false positives by 20.8% and false negatives by 8.3%, while achieving a 98.2% improvement in precision@5, for the LACD task. We release our codes at https://github.com/asmath472/LACD-public.

Infinite order linear difference equation satisfied by a refinement of Goss zeta function

At the international congress of mathematicians in 1900, Hilbert claimed that the Riemann zeta function $ζ(s)$ is not the solution of any algebraic ordinary differential equations on its region of analyticity. Let $T$ be an infinite order linear differential operator introduced by Van Gorder in 2015. Recently, Prado and Klinger-Logan (J. Number Theory 217: 422--442, 2020) showed that the Hurwitz zeta function $ζ(s,a)$ formally satisfies the following linear differential equation $$ T\left[ζ(s,a) - \frac{1}{a^s}\right] = \frac{1}{(s-1)a^{s-1}}. $$ Then in (Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hambg. 91: 117--135, 2021), by defining $T_{p}^{a}$, a $p$-adic analogue of Van Gorder's operator $T,$ we constructed the following convergent infinite order linear differential equation satisfied by the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta function $ζ_{p,E}(s,a)$ $$ T_{p}^{a}\left[ζ_{p,E}(s,a)-\langle a\rangle^{1-s}\right] =\frac{1}{s-1}\left(\langle a-1 \rangle^{1-s}-\langle a\rangle^{1-s}\right). $$ In this paper, we consider this problem in the positive characteristic case. That is, by introducing $ζ_{\infty}(s_{0},s,a,n)$, a Hurwitz type refinement of Goss zeta function, and an infinite order linear difference operator $L$, we establish the following difference equation \begin{equation*} L\left[ζ_{\infty}\left(\frac{1}{T},s,a,0\right)\right]=\sum_{γ\in\mathbb{F}_{q}} \frac{1}{\langle a+γ\rangle^{s}}. \end{equation*}

PlanRAG: A Plan-then-Retrieval Augmented Generation for Generative Large Language Models as Decision Makers

In this paper, we conduct a study to utilize LLMs as a solution for decision making that requires complex data analysis. We define Decision QA as the task of answering the best decision, $d_{best}$, for a decision-making question $Q$, business rules $R$ and a database $D$. Since there is no benchmark that can examine Decision QA, we propose Decision QA benchmark, DQA. It has two scenarios, Locating and Building, constructed from two video games (Europa Universalis IV and Victoria 3) that have almost the same goal as Decision QA. To address Decision QA effectively, we also propose a new RAG technique called the iterative plan-then-retrieval augmented generation (PlanRAG). Our PlanRAG-based LM generates the plan for decision making as the first step, and the retriever generates the queries for data analysis as the second step. The proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art iterative RAG method by 15.8% in the Locating scenario and by 7.4% in the Building scenario, respectively. We release our code and benchmark at https://github.com/myeon9h/PlanRAG.

Euler's integral, multiple cosine function and zeta values

In 1769, Euler proved the following result $$ \int_0^{\frac\pi2}\log(\sin θ) dθ=-\frac\pi2 \log2. $$ In this paper, as a generalization, we evaluate the definite integrals $$ \int_0^x θ^{r-2}\log\left(\cos\frac\theta2\right)dθ$$ for $r=2,3,4,\ldots.$ We show that it can be expressed by the special values of Kurokawa and Koyama's multiple cosine functions $\mathcal{C}_r(x)$ or by the special values of alternating zeta and Dirichlet lambda functions. In particular, we get the following explicit expression of the zeta value $$ ζ(3)=\frac{4π^2}{21}\log\left(\frac{e^{\frac{4G}π}\mathcal{C}_3\left(\frac14\right)^{16}}{\sqrt2}\right), $$ where $G$ is Catalan's constant and $\mathcal{C}_3\left(\frac14\right)$ is the special value of Kurokawa and Koyama's multiple cosine function $\mathcal{C}_3(x)$ at $\frac14$. Furthermore, we prove several series representations for the logarithm of multiple cosine functions $\log\mathcal{C}_r\left(\frac x{2}\right)$ by zeta functions, $L$-functions or polylogarithms. One of them leads to another expression of $ζ(3)$: $$ζ(3)=\frac{72π^2}{11}\log\left(\frac{3^{\frac1{72}}\mathcal{C}_3\left(\frac16\right)}{\mathcal{C}_2\left(\frac16\right)^{\frac13}}\right).$$

Properties of Nb\_xTi\_{(1-x)}N thin films deposited on 300 mm silicon wafers for upscaling superconducting digital circuits

Scaling superconducting digital circuits requires fundamental changes in the current material set and fabrication process. The transition to 300 mm wafers and the implementation of advanced lithography are instrumental in facilitating mature CMOS processes, ensuring uniformity, and optimizing the yield. This study explores the properties of NbxTi(1-x)N films fabricated by magnetron DC sputtering on 300 mm Si wafers. As a promising alternative to traditional Nb in device manufacturing, NbxTi(1-x)N offers numerous advantages, including enhanced stability and scalability to smaller dimensions, in both processing and design. As a ternary material, NbxTi(1-x)N allows engineering material parameters by changing deposition conditions. The engineered properties can be used to modulate device parameters through the stack and mitigate failure modes. We report characterization of NbxTi(1-x)N films at less than 2% thickness variability, 2.4% Tc variability and 3% composition variability. The films material properties such as resistivity (140-375 Ωcm) and critical temperature Tc (4.6 K - 14.1 K) are correlated with stoichiometry and morphology of the films. Our results highlight the significant influence of deposition conditions on crystallographic texture along the films and its correlation with Tc.

Asymptotic expansions for the alternating Hurwitz zeta function and its derivatives

Let $$ ζ_E(s,q)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{(-1)^n}{(n+q)^{s}} $$ be the alternating Hurwitz (or Hurwitz-type Euler) zeta function. In this paper, we obtain the following asymptotic expansion of $ζ_{E}(s,q)$ $$ ζ_E(s,q)\sim\frac12 q^{-s}+\frac14sq^{-s-1}-\frac12q^{-s}\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{E_{2k+1}(0)}{(2k+1)!}\frac{(s)_{2k+1}}{q^{2k+1}}, $$ as $|q|\to\infty$, where $E_{2k+1}(0)$ are the special values of odd-order Euler polynomials at 0, and we also consider representations and bounds for the remainder of the above asymptotic expansion. In addition, we derive the asymptotic expansions for the higher order derivatives of $ζ_{E}(s,q)$ with respect to its first argument $$ζ_{E}^{(m)}(s,q)\equiv\frac{\partial^m}{\partial s^m}ζ_E(s,q),$$ as $|q|\to\infty$. Finally, we also prove a new exact series representation of $ζ_{E}(s,q)$.

Euler's transformation, zeta functions and generalizations of Wallis' formula

In this note, we extend Euler's transformation formula from the alternating series to more general series. Then we give new expressions for the Riemann zeta function $ζ(s)$ by the generalized difference operator $Δ_{c}$, which provide analytic continuation of $ζ(s)$ and new ways to evaluate the special values of $ζ(-m)$ for $m=0,1,2,\ldots$. Applying these results, we further extend Huylebrouck's generalization of Wallis' well-known formula for $π$ in the half planes Re$(s)>0$ and Re$(s)>-1$, respectively. They imply several interesting special cases including $$ \frac{2π}{3^{\frac{3}{2}}}=\frac{3^{\frac{4}{3}}}{2^{\frac{4}{3}}} \frac{2^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot3^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot3^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot4^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot6^{\frac{2}{3}}\cdot6^{\frac{2}{3}}}{4^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot4^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot5^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot5^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot4^{\frac{2}{3}}\cdot5^{\frac{2}{3}}}\cdots, $$ $$ 3^{γ-\frac{\log 3}{2}}=\frac{3^{\frac{1}{3}}\cdot3^{\frac{1}{3}}}{2^{\frac{1}{2}}\cdot4^{\frac{1}{4}}} \frac{6^{\frac{1}{6}}\cdot6^{\frac{1}{6}}}{5^{\frac{1}{5}}\cdot7^{\frac{1}{7}}}\frac{9^{\frac{1}{9}}\cdot9^{\frac{1}{9}}}{8^{\frac{1}{8}}\cdot10^{\frac{1}{10}}}\cdots, $$ and $$ \left(3\left(\frac{2πe^γ}{A^{12}}\right)^{2}\right)^{\frac{π^2}{18}}=\frac{3^{\frac{1}{3^2}}\cdot3^{\frac{1}{3^2}}}{2^{\frac{1}{2^2}}\cdot4^{\frac{1}{4^2}}} \frac{6^{\frac{1}{6^2}}\cdot6^{\frac{1}{6^2}}}{5^{\frac{1}{5^2}}\cdot7^{\frac{1}{7^2}}}\frac{9^{\frac{1}{9^2}}\cdot9^{\frac{1}{9^2}}}{8^{\frac{1}{8^2}}\cdot10^{\frac{1}{10^2}}}\cdots,$$ where $γ$ is the Euler-Mascheroni constant and $A$ is the Glaisher-Kinkelin constant.

Some new examples of summation of divergent series from the viewpoint of distributions

Let $\{a_{1}, a_{2},\ldots, a_{n},\ldots\}$ be a sequence of complex numbers which has at most polynomial growth and satisfies an extra assumption. In this paper, inspired by a recent work of Sasane, we give an explanation of the sum $$a_{1}+2a_{2}+3a_{3}+\cdots+na_{n}+\cdots,$$ and more generally, for any $k\in\mathbb{N},$ the sum $$1^{k}a_{1}+2^{k}a_{2}+3^{k}a_{3}+\cdots+n^{k}a_{n}+\cdots,$$ from the viewpoint of distributions. As applications, we explain the following summation formulas \begin{equation*} \begin{aligned} 1^{k}-2^{k}+3^{k}-\cdots&=-\frac{E_{k}(0)}{2}, \\ 1^{k}+2^{k}+3^{k}+\cdots&=-\frac{B_{k+1}}{k+1}, \\ ε^{1}1^{k}+ε^{2}2^{k}+ε^{3}3^{k}+\cdots&=-\frac{B_{k+1}(ε)}{k+1}, \end{aligned} \end{equation*} where $E_{k}(0)$, $B_{k}$ and $B_{k}(ε)$ are the Euler polynomials at 0, the Bernoulli numbers and the Apostol--Bernoulli numbers, respectively.

Scaling NbTiN-based ac-powered Josephson digital to 400M devices/cm$^2$

We describe a fabrication stackup for digital logic with 16 superconducting NbTiN layers, self-shunted a-silicon barrier Josephson Junctions (JJs), and low loss, high-$κ$ tunable HZO capacitors. The stack enables 400 MJJ/cm$^2$ device density, efficient routing, and AC power distribution on a resonant network. The materials scale beyond 28nm lithography and are compatible with standard high-temperature CMOS processes. We report initial results for two-metal layer NbTiN wires with 50nm critical dimension. A semi-ascendance wire-and-via process module using 193i lithography and 50nm critical dimension has shown cross-section uniformity of 1%=1s across the 300mm wafer, critical temperature of 12.5K, and critical current of 0.1mA at 4.2K. We also present a new design of the resonant AC power network enabled by NbTiN wires and HZO MIM capacitors. The design matches the device density and provides a 30 GHz clock with estimated efficiency of up to 90%. Finally, magnetic imaging of patterned NbTiN ground planes shows low intrinsic defectivity and consistent trapping of vorteces in 0.5 mm holes spaced on a 20 $μ$m x 20 $μ$m grid.

Facing to Latency of Hyperledger Fabric for Blockchain-enabled IoT: Modeling and Analysis

Hyperledger Fabric (HLF), one of the most popular private blockchains, has recently received attention for blockchain-enabled Internet of Things (IoT). However, for IoT applications to handle time-sensitive data, the processing latency in HLF has emerged as a new challenge. In this article, therefore, we establish a practical HLF latency model for HLF-enabled IoT. We first discuss the structure and transaction flow of HLF-enabled IoT. After implementing real HLF, we capture the latencies that each transaction experiences and show that the total latency of HLF can be modeled as a Gamma distribution, which is validated by conducting a goodness-of-fit test (i.e., the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test). We also provide the parameter values of the modeled latency distribution for various HLF environments. Furthermore, we explore the impacts of three important HLF parameters including transaction generation rate, block size, and block-generation timeout on the HLF latency. As a result, this article provides design insights on minimizing the latency for HLF-enabled IoT.

On the Stieltjes constants and gamma functions with respect to alternating Hurwitz zeta functions

Dating back to Euler, in classical analysis and number theory, the Hurwitz zeta function $$ ζ(z,q)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\frac{1}{(n+q)^{z}}, $$ the Riemann zeta function $ζ(z)$, the generalized Stieltjes constants $γ_k(q)$, the Euler constant $γ$, Euler's gamma function $Γ(q)$ and the digamma function $ψ(q)$ have many close connections on their definitions and properties. There are also many integrals, series or infinite product representations of them along the history. In this note, we try to provide a parallel story for the alternating Hurwitz zeta function (also known as the Hurwitz-type Euler zeta function) $$ζ_{E}(z,q)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{(-1)^{n}}{(n+q)^{z}},$$ the alternating zeta function $ζ_{E}(z)$ (also known as the Dirichlet's eta function $η(z)$), the modified Stieltjes constants $\tildeγ_k(q)$, the modified Euler constant $\tildeγ_{0}$, the modified gamma function $\tildeΓ(q)$ and the modified digamma function $\tildeψ(q)$ (also known as the Nielsen's $β$ function). Many new integrals, series or infinite product representations of these constants and special functions have been found. By the way, we also get two new series expansions of $π:$ \begin{equation*} \frac{π^2}{12}=\frac34-\sum_{k=1}^\infty(ζ_E(2k+2)-1) \end{equation*} and \begin{equation*} \fracπ{2}= \log2+2\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{(-1)^k}{k!}\tildeγ_k(1)\sum_{j=0}^kS(k,j)j!. \end{equation*}

Mizuno-type result and Wallis' formula

Let $\tildeΓ(z)$ be the modified gamma function introduced by the authors in a recent preprint "arXiv2106.14674". Appell-Carlitz numbers

In this paper, we introduce the concept of the (higher order) Appell-Carlitz numbers which unifies the definitions of several special numbers in positive characteristic, such as the Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers and the Cauchy-Carlitz numbers.Their generating function is usually named Hurwitz series in the function field arithmetic. By using Hasse-Teichmüller derivatives, we also obtain several properties of the (higher order) Appell-Carlitz numbers, including a recurrence formula, two closed forms expressions, and a determinant expression. The recurrence formula implies Carlitz's recurrence formula for Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers. Two closed from expressions implies the corresponding results for Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers . The determinant expression implies the corresponding results for Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers, which are analogues of the classical determinant expressions of Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers stated in an article by Glaisher in 1875.

Generalizations of Lerch's formula by Barnes' multiple zeta functions

In this note, by using Barnes' multiple zeta function and its alternating form, we obtain two kinds of generalizations of Lerch's formula, which imply the product $$ \prod_{n=1}^\infty n=\sqrt{2π} $$ (in the sense of zeta regularization) and the product $$\frac{2\cdot2}{1\cdot 3}\frac{4\cdot4}{3\cdot 5}\frac{6\cdot6}{5\cdot 7}\cdots=\fracπ{2}$$ (Wallis' formula in 1656), respectively.
