Three Point Energy Correlators in the Collinear Limit: Symmetries, Dualities and Analytic Results

Energy Correlators measure the energy deposited in multiple detectors as a function of the angles between the detectors. In this paper, we analytically compute the three particle correlator in the collinear limit in QCD for quark and gluon jets, and also in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory. We find an intriguing duality between the integrals for the energy correlators and infrared finite Feynman parameter integrals, which maps the angles of the correlators to dual momentum variables. In $\mathcal{N}=4$, we use this duality to express our result as a rational sum of simple Feynman integrals (triangles and boxes). In QCD our result is expressed as a sum of the same transcendental functions, but with more complicated rational functions of cross ratio variables as coefficients. Our results represent the first analytic calculation of a three-prong jet substructure observable of phenomenological relevance for the LHC, revealing unexplored simplicity in the energy flow of QCD jets. They also provide valuable data for improving the understanding of the light-ray operator product expansion.

Unified monogamy relation of entanglement measures

The monogamy of quantum entanglement captures the property of limitation in the distribution of entanglement. Various monogamy relations exist for different entanglement measures that are important in quantum information processing. Our goal in this work is to propose a general monogamy inequality for all entanglement measures on entangled qubit systems. The present result provide a unified model for various entanglement measures including the concurrence, the negativity, the entanglement of formation, Tsallis-q entropy, Renyi-q entropy, and Unified-(q,s) entropy. We then proposed tightened monogamy inequalities for multipartite systems. We finally prove a generic result for the tangle of high-dimensional entangled states to show the distinct feature going beyond qubit systems. These results are useful for exploring the entanglement theory, quantum information processing and secure quantum communication.

Non-signaling Causal Hierarchy of General Multisource Networks

Large-scale multisource networks have been employed to overcome the practical constraints that entangled systems are difficult to faithfully transmit over large distance or store in long time. However, a full characterization of the multipartite nonlocality of these networks remains out of reach, mainly due to the complexity of multipartite causal models. In this paper, we propose a general framework of Bayesian networks to reveal connections among different causal structures. The present model implies a special star-convex set of non-signaling correlations from multisource networks that allows constructing polynomial-time algorithm for solving the compatibility problem of a given correlation distribution and a fixed causal network. It is then used to classify the nonlocality originated from the standard entanglement swapping of tripartite networks. Our model provides a unified device-independent information processing method for exploring the practical security against non-signaling eavesdroppers on multisource quantum networks.

A nonlocal game for witnessing quantum networks

Nonlocal game as a novel witness of the nonlocality of entanglement is of fundamental importance in various fields. The known nonlocal games or equivalent linear Bell inequalities are only useful for Bell networks of single entanglement. Our goal in this paper is to propose a unified method for constructing cooperating games in network scenarios. We first propose an efficient method to construct numerous multipartite games from any graphs. The main idea is the graph representation of entanglement-based quantum networks. We further specify these graphic games with quantum advantages by providing a simple sufficient and necessary condition. The graphic games imply the first linear testing of the nonlocality of general quantum networks consisting of EPR states. It also allows generating new instances going beyond well-known CHSH games. Our result has interesting applications in quantum networks, Bell theory, computational complexity, and theoretical computer science.

Transverse Parton Distribution and Fragmentation Functions at NNLO: the Gluon Case

We calculate in this paper the perturbative gluon transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDPDFs) and fragmentation functions (TMDFFs) using the exponential regulator for rapidity divergences. We obtain results for both unpolarized and linearly polarized distributions through next-to-next-to leading order in strong coupling constant, and through ${\cal O}(ε^2)$ in dimensional regulator (finding discrepancy for the linearly polarized gluon TMDPDFs with a previous result in the literature). We find a nontrivial momentum conservation sum rule for the linearly polarized component for both TMDPDFs and TMDFFs in the ${\cal N}=1$ super-Yang-Mills theory. The TMDFFs are used to calculate the two-loop gluon jet function for the energy-energy correlator in Higgs gluonic decay in the back-to-back limit.

Transverse Parton Distribution and Fragmentation Functions at NNLO: the Quark Case

We revisit the calculation of perturbative quark transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions using the exponential regulator for rapidity divergences. We show that the exponential regulator provides a consistent framework for the calculation of various ingredients in transverse momentum dependent factorization. Compared to existing regulators in the literature, the exponential regulator has a couple of advantages which we explain in detail. As a result, the calculation is greatly simplified and we are able to obtain the next-to-next-to-leading order results up to $\mathcal{O}(ε^2)$ in dimensional regularization. These terms are necessary for a higher order calculation which is made possible with the simplification brought by the new regulator. As a by-product, we have obtained the two-loop quark jet function for the Energy-Energy Correlator in the back-to-back limit, which is the last missing ingredient for its N$^3$LL resummation.

Computationally Efficient Nonlinear Bell Inequalities for General Quantum Networks

The correlations in quantum networks have attracted strong interest with new types of violations of the locality. The standard Bell inequalities cannot characterize the multipartite correlations that are generated by multiple sources. The main problem is that no computationally efficient method is available for constructing useful Bell inequalities for general quantum networks. In this work, we show a significant improvement by presenting new, explicit Bell-type inequalities for general networks including cyclic networks. These nonlinear inequalities are related to the matching problem of an equivalent unweighted bipartite graph that allows constructing a polynomial-time algorithm. For the quantum resources consisting of bipartite entangled pure states and generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states, we prove the generic non-multilocality of quantum networks with multiple independent observers using new Bell inequalities. The violations are maximal with respect to the presented Tsirelson's bound for Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) states and GHZ states. Moreover, these violations hold for Werner states or some general noisy states. Our results suggest that the presented Bell inequalities can be used to characterize experimental quantum networks.

Nonlocality of All Quantum Networks

The multipartite correlations derived from local measurements on some composite quantum systems are inconsistent with those reproduced classically. This inconsistency is known as quantum nonlocality and shows a milestone in the foundations of quantum theory. Still, it is NP hard to decide a nonlocal quantum state. We investigate an extended question: how to characterize the nonlocal properties of quantum states that are distributed and measured in networks. We first prove the generic tripartite nonlocality of chain-shaped quantum networks using semiquantum nonlocal games. We then introduce a new approach to prove the generic activated nonlocality as a result of entanglement swapping for all bipartite entangled states. The result is further applied to show the multipartite nonlocality and activated nonlocality for all nontrivial quantum networks consisting of any entangled states. Our results provide the nonlocality witnesses and quantum superiorities of all connected quantum networks or nontrivial hybrid networks in contrast to classical networks.

Undetectable Werner states using linear Bell inequalities

Bell inequality serves as an important method to detect quantum entanglement, a problem which is generally known to be NP-hard. Our goal in this work is to detect Werner states using linear Bell inequality. Surprisingly, we show that Werner states of almost all generalized multipartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states cannot be detected by homogeneous linear Bell inequalities with dichotomic inputs and outputs of each local observer. The main idea is to estimate the largest violations of Werner states in the case of general linear Bell inequalities. The presented method is then applied to Werner states of all pure states to show a similar undetectable result. Moreover, we provide an accessible method to determine undetectable Werner states for general linear Bell inequality including sub-correlations. The numeric algorithm shows that there are nonzero measures of Werner states with small number of particles that cannot be detected by general linear Bell inequalities.

Unified quantum no-go theorems and transforming of quantum states in a restricted set

The linear superposition principle in quantum mechanics is essential for several no-go theorems such as the no-cloning theorem, the no-deleting theorem and the no-superposing theorem. It remains an open problem of finding general forbidden principles to unify these results. In this paper, we investigate general quantum transformations forbidden or permitted by the superposition principle for various goals. First, we prove a no-encoding theorem that forbids linearly superposing of an unknown pure state and a fixed state in Hilbert space of finite dimension. Two general forms include the no-cloning theorem, the no-deleting theorem, and the no-superposing theorem as special cases. Second, we provide a unified scheme for presenting perfect and imperfect quantum tasks (cloning and deleting) in a one-shot manner. This scheme may yield to fruitful results that are completely characterized with the linear independence of the input pure states. The generalized upper bounds for the success probability will be proved. Third, we generalize a recent superposing of unknown states with fixed overlaps when multiple copies of the input states are available.

Searching SUSY Leptonic Partner at the CERN LHC

Motivated by the observed excess of the di-photon signal in Higgs searches, $σ_{γγ}/σ_{\rm SM}\simeq 1.5$, we argue that models with enhanced $Γ(h\to γγ)$ alone are the most favorable scenarios when the latest LHC/Tevatron results are all taken into account. We study the phenomenology of a supersymmetric scenario of light stau first proposed by \textit{Carena et. al. \cite{carlos}} that predicts a 125 GeV SM-like Higgs boson with enhanced diphoton decay through light stau loops. Since it is extremely challenging to search the Drell-Yan stau pair at the LHC due to the small production rate, we focus on the parameter space with enhanced production of inclusive stau pairs, in particular, via $b\bar{b}$ fusion or gaugino pairs. We study its phenomenology in both pure leptonic tau $τ^\pm_\ell$ channels and hadronic tau tagged $τ_h$ channels. We find the same-sign dilepton from $\tildeχ^\pm_1 \tildeχ^0_2 \to τ^\pm_\ell τ^\pm_\ell+X$ may significantly improve the discovery potential with even 7--8 TeV LHC of ${\cal O}(30 \text{fb}^{-1})$ data. In the case of hadronic tau pair, we use the final state $j+τ_h τ_h +\cancel{E}_T$ to search and find that even with the most optimistic region of $M_2\sim 200-300$ GeV, it requires at least 50 fb$^{-1}$ data of 14 TeV LHC to reach a significance of 3.5 $σ$. Therefore, we conclude it is difficult to claim discovery only through hadronic tau based on the data by the 2012 shut-down. 5 $σ$ reach for our most optimistic region then requires 100 fb$^{-1}$ data with 14 TeV running.
