Dispersed Pixel Perturbation-based Imperceptible Backdoor Trigger for Image Classifier Models

Typical deep neural network (DNN) backdoor attacks are based on triggers embedded in inputs. Existing imperceptible triggers are computationally expensive or low in attack success. In this paper, we propose a new backdoor trigger, which is easy to generate, imperceptible, and highly effective. The new trigger is a uniformly randomly generated three-dimensional (3D) binary pattern that can be horizontally and/or vertically repeated and mirrored and superposed onto three-channel images for training a backdoored DNN model. Dispersed throughout an image, the new trigger produces weak perturbation to individual pixels, but collectively holds a strong recognizable pattern to train and activate the backdoor of the DNN. We also analytically reveal that the trigger is increasingly effective with the improving resolution of the images. Experiments are conducted using the ResNet-18 and MLP models on the MNIST, CIFAR-10, and BTSR datasets. In terms of imperceptibility, the new trigger outperforms existing triggers, such as BadNets, Trojaned NN, and Hidden Backdoor, by over an order of magnitude. The new trigger achieves an almost 100% attack success rate, only reduces the classification accuracy by less than 0.7%-2.4%, and invalidates the state-of-the-art defense techniques.

Derivation functors and Lusztig's induction functors

Lusztig proved the compatibility of induction functors and restriction functors for Lusztig's perverse sheaves. Fang-Lan-Xiao established a categorification of Green's formula and gave a sheaf-level proof of this compatibility for all semisimple complexes. As an application, we study the relation between induction functors and derivation functors, which is a kind of special restriction functors.

On bases of quantum affine algebras

Let $\textbf{U}^+$ be the positive part of the quantum group $\textbf{U}$ associated with a generalized Cartan matrix. In the case of finite type, Lusztig constructed the canonical basis $\textbf{B}$ of $\textbf{U}^+$ via two approaches. The first one is an elementary algebraic construction via Ringel-Hall algebra realization of $\textbf{U}^+$ and the second one is a geometric construction. The geometric construction of canonical basis can be generalized to the cases of all types. The generalization of the elementary algebraic construction to affine type is an important problem. We give several main results of algebraic constructions to the affine canonical basis in this ariticle. These results are given by Beck-Nakajima, Lin-Xiao-Zhang, Xiao-Xu-Zhao, respectively.

Constructions of highest weight modules of double Ringel-Hall algebras via functions

In [19], Zheng studied the bounded derived categories of constructible $\bar{\mathbb{Q}}_l$-sheaves on some algebraic stacks consisting of the representations of a enlarged quiver and categorified the integrable highest weight modules of the corresponding quantum group by using these categories. In this paper, we shall generalize Zheng's work to highest weight modules of a subalgebra of the double Ringel-Hall algebra associated to a quiver in a functional version.

On purity theorem of Lusztig's perverse sheaves

Let $Q$ be a finite quiver without loops and $\mathcal{Q}_α$ be the Lusztig category for any dimension vector $α$. The purpose of this paper is to prove that all Frobenius eigenvalues of the $i$-th cohomology $\mathcal{H}^i(\mathcal{L})|_x$ for a simple perverse sheaf $\mathcal{L}\in \mathcal{Q}_α$ and $x\in \mathbb{E}_α^{F^n}=\mathbb{E}_α(\mathbb{F}_{q^n})$ are equal to $(\sqrt{q^n})^{i}$ as a conjecture given by Schiffmann (\cite{Schiffmann2}). As an application, we prove the existence of a class of Hall polynomials.

Ringel-Hall algebras beyond their quantum groups I: Restriction functor and Green's formula

In this paper, we generalize the categorifical construction of a quantum group and its canonical basis introduced by Lusztig (\cite{Lusztig,Lusztig2}) to the generic form of the whole Ringel-Hall algebra. We clarify the explicit relation between the Green formula in \cite{Green} and the restriction functor in \cite{Lusztig2}. By a geometric way to prove the Green formula, we show that the Hopf structure of a Ringel-Hall algebra can be categorified under Lusztig's framework.

Geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries on the whole quantum groups

In this paper, we shall study the structure of the Grothendieck group of the category consisting of Lusztig's perverse sheaves and give a decomposition theorem of it. By using this decomposition theorem and the geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries on the positive part of a quantum group, we shall give geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries on the whole quantum group.

Geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries

In this paper, we give geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries. We also give projective resolutions of a kind of standard modules. By using the geometric realizations and the projective resolutions, we obtain the categorification of the formulas of Lusztig's symmetries.

BGP-Reflection Functors and Lusztig's Symmetries of Modified Quantized Enveloping Algebras

Let $\mathbf{U}$ be the quantized enveloping algebra and $\dot{\mathbf{U}}$ its modified form. Lusztig gives some symmetries on $\mathbf{U}$ and $\dot{\mathbf{U}}$. Since the realization of $\mathbf{U}$ by the reduced Drinfeld double of the Ringel-Hall algebra, one can apply the BGP-reflection functors to the double Ringel-Hall algebra to obtain Lusztig's symmetries on $\mathbf{U}$ and their important properties, for instance, the braid relations. In this paper, we define a modified form $\dot{\mathcal{H}}$ of the Ringel-Hall algebra and realize the Lusztig's symmetries on $\dot{\mathbf{U}}$ by applying the BGP-reflection functors to $\dot{\mathcal{H}}$.

A parameterization of the canonical bases of affine modified quantized enveloping algebras

For symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie algebra $\textbf{g}$, Lusztig introduced the modified quantized enveloping algebra $\dot{\textbf{U}}(\textbf{g})$ and its canonical basis in [12]. In this paper, for finite and affine type symmetric Lie algebra $\textbf{g}$ we define a set which depend only on the root category and prove that there is a bijection between the set and the canonical basis of $\dot{\textbf{U}}(\textbf{g})$, where the root category is the $T^2$-orbit category of the derived category of Dynkin or tame quiver. Our method bases on one theorem of Lin, Xiao and Zhang in [9], which gave the PBW-basis of $\textbf{U}^+(\textbf{g})$.
