GigaBrain-WBC-0.5: A Behavior World Model for Robust Whole-Body Control with Environment Interaction

Whole-body motion tracking policies turn a humanoid into a robust control interface: the teleoperator---or an upstream model---only supplies a coarse movement intent, while the low-level policy keeps the robot balanced and physically feasible. Existing trackers deliver this interface only on flat ground: trained in empty scenes, they never learn how contact with terrain and objects reshapes their dynamics, and they attempt to teach the policy to balance under any command by continually enlarging the reference-motion corpus, which stops working once feasible behaviors become environment-dependent. We present GigaBrain-WBC-0.5, the first Behavior World Model (BWM) for humanoid whole-body control. Rather than a purely reactive tracker, we train a causal Transformer to jointly predict its next action, next state, and the distribution over its next latent behavior command, so the network that acts also models how the environment shapes what it can do next. An automatic terrain-annotation pipeline recovers full 3D contact geometry from retargeted motion, enabling terrain annotation at the scale of existing motion datasets. The predicted distribution is reused at deployment to detect implausible commands online and retract them onto learned behaviors, so the robot attempts tasks in a "best-effort" manner. The result is a unified policy that takes real-time command, interacts with environment, and stays robust to implausible commands, falls, and disturbances. GigaBrain-WBC-0.5 achieves the highest success rate across all four regimes among three large-scale tracker baselines: 81.3% on terrain interaction (4.3x the strongest baseline), 83.1% under implausible commands, and 99.3% fall recovery (16.8x the strongest baseline). Hardware trials show robust interaction under missing supports and disturbances; the Unitree G1 checkpoint transfers to the Maker L01 robot with simple fine-tuning.

ALOHA: Empowering Multilingual Agent for University Orientation with Hierarchical Retrieval

The rise of Large Language Models~(LLMs) revolutionizes information retrieval, allowing users to obtain required answers through complex instructions within conversations. However, publicly available services remain inadequate in addressing the needs of faculty and students to search campus-specific information. It is primarily due to the LLM's lack of domain-specific knowledge and the limitation of search engines in supporting multilingual and timely scenarios. To tackle these challenges, we introduce ALOHA, a multilingual agent enhanced by hierarchical retrieval for university orientation. We also integrate external APIs into the front-end interface to provide interactive service. The human evaluation and case study show our proposed system has strong capabilities to yield correct, timely, and user-friendly responses to the queries in multiple languages, surpassing commercial chatbots and search engines. The system has been deployed and has provided service for more than 12,000 people.

Collinear laser spectroscopy on neutron-rich actinium isotopes

High-resolution collinear laser spectroscopy of neutron-rich actinium has been performed at TRIUMF's isotope separator and accelerator facility ISAC. By probing the $7s^2~^1S_0$ $\rightarrow$ $6d7p~^1P_1$ ionic transition, the hyperfine structures and optical isotope shifts in $^{225, 226, 228, 229}\!$Ac$^+$ have been measured. This allows precise determinations of the changes in mean-square charge radii, magnetic dipole moments, and electric quadrupole moments of these actinium isotopes. The improved precision of charge radii and magnetic moments clears the ambiguity in the odd-even staggering from previous studies. The electric quadrupole moments of $^{225, 226, 228, 229}\!$Ac are determined for the first time.

Crimson: Empowering Strategic Reasoning in Cybersecurity through Large Language Models

We introduces Crimson, a system that enhances the strategic reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) within the realm of cybersecurity. By correlating CVEs with MITRE ATT&CK techniques, Crimson advances threat anticipation and strategic defense efforts. Our approach includes defining and evaluating cybersecurity strategic tasks, alongside implementing a comprehensive human-in-the-loop data-synthetic workflow to develop the CVE-to-ATT&CK Mapping (CVEM) dataset. We further enhance LLMs' reasoning abilities through a novel Retrieval-Aware Training (RAT) process and its refined iteration, RAT-R. Our findings demonstrate that an LLM fine-tuned with our techniques, possessing 7 billion parameters, approaches the performance level of GPT-4, showing markedly lower rates of hallucination and errors, and surpassing other models in strategic reasoning tasks. Moreover, domain-specific fine-tuning of embedding models significantly improves performance within cybersecurity contexts, underscoring the efficacy of our methodology. By leveraging Crimson to convert raw vulnerability data into structured and actionable insights, we bolster proactive cybersecurity defenses.
