ESC: Emotional Self-Correction for Reliable Vision-Language Models

Vision-language models (VLMs) have achieved strong performance across diverse multimodal tasks, yet they remain vulnerable to unreliable reasoning. Existing self-correction methods mitigate these issues but typically rely on post-training or carefully engineered feedback, incurring high computational cost. In this work, we revisit this challenge through the lens of emotional cues, asking whether they can activate latent self-correction behaviors in VLMs without additional training. \textbf{We find that emotional signals serve as an effective trigger for self-correction, encouraging more cautious and reflective reasoning}. Motivated by this finding, we propose \escabstract (\textbf{\underline{E}}motional \textbf{\underline{S}}elf-\textbf{\underline{C}}orrection), a training-free self-correction framework. ESC introduces an external verifier that detects potentially incorrect initial responses and injects emotional feedback to encourage model to reflect, and produce a better revised response without additional training. Extensive experiments across safety, hallucination, vision-centric perception, and multimodal reasoning benchmarks show that ESC consistently improves reliability while preserving overall model utility. These results suggest that emotion can function not only as an ability to be recognized, but also as a practical control signal for scalable self-correction in VLMs. \textbf{We therefore believe that ESC provides a strong foundation for a new reliable human-like, emotion-integrated research direction.} Our project is publicly available at \textcolor{red}{https://genai4e.github.io/ESC/}.

A Lightweight Moment Retrieval System with Global Re-Ranking and Robust Adaptive Bidirectional Temporal Search

The exponential growth of digital video content has posed critical challenges in moment-level video retrieval, where existing methodologies struggle to efficiently localize specific segments within an expansive video corpus. Current retrieval systems are constrained by computational inefficiencies, temporal context limitations, and the intrinsic complexity of navigating video content. In this paper, we address these limitations through a novel Interactive Video Corpus Moment Retrieval framework that integrates a SuperGlobal Reranking mechanism and Adaptive Bidirectional Temporal Search (ABTS), strategically optimizing query similarity, temporal stability, and computational resources. By preprocessing a large corpus of videos using a keyframe extraction model and deduplication technique through image hashing, our approach provides a scalable solution that significantly reduces storage requirements while maintaining high localization precision across diverse video repositories.

Distributed Fixed-Time Consensus Control for Multiple AUV Systems with Input Saturations

This study proposes a new distributed control method based on an adaptive fuzzy control for multiple collaborative autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to track a desired formation shape within a fixed time. First, a formation control protocol based on a fixed-time backstepping sliding mode control is designed, in which the consensus cooperative tracking errors for each AUV will be formulated. Then, to compensate for the saturated control torques, an adaptive auxiliary variable is introduced. Finally, a fixed-time adaptive fuzzy logic control (FLC) is derived to approximate the unknown dynamics, in which the adaptive laws of the FLC is derived such that the adaptive signals and errors can be convergent within a fixed time. The fixed time convergence is desired in practice because it provides an exciting property that the global convergence of the whole system is independent with the initial states of the AUVs. The computer simulation results for a consensus formation control of four AUVs show that the proposed formation control can provide high tracking performance with lower and smoother control efforts
