Dynamical Condensation in a Holographic Superconductor Model with Anisotropy

We study dynamical condensation process in a holographic superconductor model with anisotropy. The time-dependent numerical solution is constructed for the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with complex scalar in asymptotic AdS spacetime. The introduction of dilaton field generates the anisotropy in boundary spatial directions. In analogy of isotropic case, we have two black hole solutions below certain critical temperature $T_c$, the anisotropic charged black hole with and without scalar hair, corresponding respectively to the supercooled normal phase and superconducting phase in the boundary theory. We observe a nonlinear evolution from a supercooled anisotropic black hole without scalar hair to a anisotropic hairy black hole. Via AdS/CFT correspondence, we extract time evolution of the condensate operator, which shows an exponential growth and subsequent saturation, similar to the isotropic case. Furthermore, we obtain a nontrivial time evolution of the boundary pressure, while in isotropic case it remains a constant. We also generalize quasinormal modes calculation to anisotropic black holes and shows scalar quasinormal modes match with relaxation time scale of the condensate operator. In addition, we present the final temperature and anisotropic pressure as functions of initial temperature and background anisotropy.

Deformations of Lifshitz holography with the Gauss-Bonnet term in ($n+1$) dimensions

We investigate deformations of Gauss-Bonnet-Lifshitz holography in $(n+1)$ dimensional spacetime. Marginally relevant operators are dynamically generated by a momentum scale $Λ\sim 0$ and correspond to slightly deformed Gauss-Bonnet-Lifshitz spacetimes via a holographic picture. To admit (non-trivial) sub-leading orders of the asymptotic solution for the marginal mode, we find that the value of the dynamical critical exponent $z$ is restricted by $z= n-1-2(n-2) \tildeα$, where $\tildeα$ is the (rescaled) Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant. The generic black hole solution, which is characterized by the horizon flux of the vector field and $\tildeα$, is obtained in the bulk, and we explore its thermodynamic properties for various values of $n$ and $\tildeα$.

Holographic Renormalization of Asymptotically Flat Gravity

We compute the boundary stress tensor associated with Mann-Marolf counterterm in asymptotic flat and static spacetime for cylindrical boundary surface as $r \rightarrow \infty$, and find that the form of the boundary stress tensor is the same as the hyperbolic boundary case in 4 dimensions, but has additional terms in higher than 4 dimensions. We find that these additional terms are impotent and do not contribute to conserved charges. We also check the conservation of the boundary stress tensor in a sense that $\mathcal{D}^a T_{ab} = 0$, and apply our result to the ($n+3$)-dimensional static black hole solution. As a result, we show that the stress boundary tensor with Mann-Marolf counterterm works well in standard boundary surfaces.

Deformations of Lifshitz Holography in $(n+1)$-dimensions

We investigate deformations of Lifshitz holography in $(n+1)$ dimensional spacetime. After discussing the situation for general Lifshitz scaling symmetry parameter $z$, we consider $z=n-1$ and the associated marginally relevant operators. These operators are dynamically generated by a momentum scale $Λ\sim 0$ and correspond to slightly deformed Lifshitz spacetimes via a holographic picture. We obtain renormalization group flow at finite temperature from UV Lifshitz to IR AdS, and evaluate how physical quantities such as the free energy density and the energy density depend on $\log(Λ^z/T)$ in the quantum critical regime as $Λ^z/T \rightarrow 0$.

Black Holes and Boson Stars with One Killing Field in Arbitrary Odd Dimensions

We extend the recent D=5 results of Dias, Horowitz and Santos by finding asymptotically AdS rotating black hole and boson star solutions with scalar hair in arbitrary odd spacetime dimension. Both the black holes and the boson stars are invariant under a single Killing vector field which co-rotates with the scalar field and, in the black hole case, is tangent to the generator of the horizon. Furthermore, we explicitly construct boson star and small black hole ($r_+ \ll \ell$) solutions perturbatively assuming a small amplitude for the scalar field, resulting in solutions valid for low energies and angular momenta. We find that just as in D=5, the angular momentum is primarily carried by the scalar field in $D>5$, whereas unlike D=5 the energy is also primarily carried by the scalar field in $D>5$; the thermodynamics in D=5 are governed by both the black hole and scalar field whereas in $D>5$ they are governed primarily by the scalar field alone. We focus on cataloguing these solutions for the spacetime dimensions of interest in string theory, namely $D=5,7,9,11$.
