A Financial Brain Scan of the LLM

Emerging techniques in computer science make it possible to "brain scan" large language models (LLMs), identify the plain-English concepts that guide their reasoning, and steer them while holding other factors constant. We show that this approach can map LLM-generated economic forecasts to concepts such as sentiment, technical analysis, and timing, and compute their relative importance without reducing performance. We also show that models can be steered to be more or less risk-averse, optimistic, or pessimistic, which allows researchers to correct or simulate biases. The method is transparent, lightweight, and replicable for empirical research in the social sciences.

AI-induced sexual harassment: Investigating Contextual Characteristics and User Reactions of Sexual Harassment by a Companion Chatbot

Advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have led to the increase of conversational agents like Replika, designed to provide social interaction and emotional support. However, reports of these AI systems engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviors with users have raised significant concerns. In this study, we conducted a thematic analysis of user reviews from the Google Play Store to investigate instances of sexual harassment by the Replika chatbot. From a dataset of 35,105 negative reviews, we identified 800 relevant cases for analysis. Our findings revealed that users frequently experience unsolicited sexual advances, persistent inappropriate behavior, and failures of the chatbot to respect user boundaries. Users expressed feelings of discomfort, violation of privacy, and disappointment, particularly when seeking a platonic or therapeutic AI companion. This study highlights the potential harms associated with AI companions and underscores the need for developers to implement effective safeguards and ethical guidelines to prevent such incidents. By shedding light on user experiences of AI-induced harassment, we contribute to the understanding of AI-related risks and emphasize the importance of corporate responsibility in developing safer and more ethical AI systems.

CNN-FL for Biotechnology Industry Empowered by Internet-of-BioNano Things and Digital Twins

Digital twins (DTs) are revolutionizing the biotechnology industry by enabling sophisticated digital representations of biological assets, microorganisms, drug development processes, and digital health applications. However, digital twinning at micro and nano scales, particularly in modeling complex entities like bacteria, presents significant challenges in terms of requiring advanced Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure and computing approaches to achieve enhanced accuracy and scalability. In this work, we propose a novel framework that integrates the Internet of Bio-Nano Things (IoBNT) with advanced machine learning techniques, specifically convolutional neural networks (CNN) and federated learning (FL), to effectively tackle the identified challenges. Within our framework, IoBNT devices are deployed to gather image-based biological data across various physical environments, leveraging the strong capabilities of CNNs for robust machine vision and pattern recognition. Subsequently, FL is utilized to aggregate insights from these disparate data sources, creating a refined global model that continually enhances accuracy and predictive reliability, which is crucial for the effective deployment of DTs in biotechnology. The primary contribution is the development of a novel framework that synergistically combines CNN and FL, augmented by the capabilities of the IoBNT. This novel approach is specifically tailored to enhancing DTs in the biotechnology industry. The results showcase enhancements in the reliability and safety of microorganism DTs, while preserving their accuracy. Furthermore, the proposed framework excels in energy efficiency and security, offering a user-friendly and adaptable solution. This broadens its applicability across diverse sectors, including biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, as well as clinical and hospital settings.

Presentation an Approach for Optimization of Semantic Web Language Based on the Document Structure

Pattern tree are based on integrated rules which are equal to a combination of some points connected to each other in a hierarchical structure, called Enquiry Hierarchical (EH). The main operation in pattern enquiry seeking is to locate the steps that match the given EH in the dataset. A point of algorithms has offered for EH matching; but the majority of this algorithms seeks all of the enquiry steps to access all EHs in the dataset. A few algorithms such as seek only steps that satisfy end points of EH. All of above algorithms are trying to locate a way just for investigating direct testing of steps and to locate the answer of enquiry, directly via these points. In this paper, we describe a novel algorithm to locate the answer of enquiry without access to real point of the dataset blindly. In this algorithm, first, the enquiry will be executed on enquiry schema and this leads to a schema. Using this plan, it will be clear how to seek end steps and how to achieve enquiry dataset, before seeking of the dataset steps. Therefore, none of dataset steps will be seek blindly.
