Quantum states and quantum computing

In classical theory, the physical systems are elucidated through the concepts of particles and waves, which aim to describe the reality of the physical system with certainty. In this framework, particles are mathematically represented by position vectors as functions of time, $\vec{x}(t)$, while waves are modeled by tensor fields in space-time, $Φ(t, \vec{x})$. These functions are embedded in, and evolve within space-time. All information about the physical system are coded in these mathematical functions, upon which the classical technologies are developed. In contrast, quantum theory models the physical system using a quantum state $\vert α,t\rangle$, situated in an evolving within Hilbert space, portraying the system's reality with inherent uncertainty. Despite the probabilistic nature of reality observation, the quantum state $\vert α,t\rangle$ can be precisely determined due to the unitary principle, provided we know the initial state. Therefore, it can serve as a foundation for developing quantum technologies, which we call quantum state-tronics similar to electronics. This discussion focuses on quantum computation, given its expansive scope. One of the paramount challenges in quantum computing is the scarcity of individuals equipped with the requisite knowledge of quantum field theory and the training necessary for this field. This article aims to elucidate the fundamental concepts of quantum field theory and their interconnections with quantum computing, striving to simplify them for those engaged in quantum computing.

Quantum de Sitter geometry

Quantum de Sitter geometry is discussed using elementary field operator algebras in Krein space quantization from an observer-independent point of view, {\it i.e.} ambient space formalism. In quantum geometry, the conformal sector of the metric becomes a dynamical degree of freedom, which can be written in terms of a massless minimally coupled scalar field. The elementary fields necessary for the construction of quantum geometry are introduced and classified. A complete Krein-Fock space structure for elementary fields is presented using field operator algebras. We conclude that since quantum de Sitter geometry can be constructed by elementary field operators, the geometry quantum state is immersed in the Krein-Fock space and evolves in it. The total number of accessible quantum states in the universe is chosen as a parameter of quantum state evolution, which has a relationship with the universe's entropy. Inspired by the Wheeler-DeWitt constraint equation in cosmology, the evolution equation of the geometry quantum state is formulated in terms of the Lagrangian density of interaction fields in ambient space formalism.

Higgs Field and the Massless Minimally Coupled Scalar Field in de Sitter Universe

The massless minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter ambient space formalism might play a similar role to what the Higgs scalar field accomplishes within the electroweak standard model. With the introduction of a "local transformation" for this field, the interaction Lagrangian between the scalar field and the spinor field can be made similar to a gauge theory. In the null curvature limit, the Yukawa potential can be constructed from that Lagrangian. Finally the one-loop correction of the scalar-spinor interaction is presented, which is free of any infrared divergence.

Quantum Field Theory in de Sitter Universe: Ambient Space Formalism

Quantum field theory in the $4$-dimensional de Sitter space-time is constructed in the ambient space formalism in a rigorous mathematical framework. This work is based on the group representation theory and the analyticity of the complexified pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. The unitary irreducible representations of de Sitter group and their corresponding Hilbert spaces are reformulated in the ambient space formalism. Defining the creation and annihilation operators, quantum field operators and their corresponding analytic two-point functions for various spin fields have been constructed. The various spin massless fields can be constructed in terms of the massless conformally coupled scalar field in this formalism. Then the quantum massless minimally coupled scalar field operator, for the first time, is also constructed on Bunch-Davies vacuum state which preserve the analyticity. We show that the massless fields with $s \geq 3$ cannot propagate in de Sitter ambient space formalism. The massless gauge invariant field equations for $s=1, \frac{3}{2}, 2$ are studied. The gauge spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ fields satisfy the Grassmannian algebra, and hence provoke one to couple them with the gauge spin-$2$ field and the super-algebra is naturally appeared.

Observable Quantities in Weyl Gravity

In this paper, the cosmological "constant" and the Hubble parameter are considered in the Weyl theory of gravity, by taking them as functions of $r$ and $t$, respectively. Based on this theory and in the linear approximation, we obtain the values of $H_0$ and $Λ_0$ which are in good agreement with the known values of the parameters for the current state of the universe.

Conformally invariant wave-equations and massless fields in de Sitter spacetime

Conformally invariant wave equations in de Sitter space, for scalar and vector fields, are introduced in the present paper. Solutions of their wave equations and the related two-point functions, in the ambient space notation, have been calculated. The ``Hilbert'' space structure and the field operator, in terms of coordinate independent de Sitter plane waves, have been defined. The construction of the paper is based on the analyticity in the complexified pseudo-Riemanian manifold, presented first by Bros et al.. Minkowskian limits of these functions are analyzed. The relation between the ambient space notation and the intrinsic coordinates is then studied in the final stage.

N=1 de Sitter Supersymmetry Algebra

Recalling the universal covering group of de Sitter, the transformation properties of the spinor fields $ψ(x)$ and ${\barψ}(x)$, in the ambient space notation, are presented in this paper. The charge conjugation symmetry of the de Sitter spinor field is then discussed in the above notation. Using this spinor field and charge conjugation, de Sitter supersymmetry algebra in the ambient space notation has been established. It is shown that a novel dS-superalgebra can be attained by the use of spinor field and charge conjugation in the ambient space notation.

Abelian Gauge Theory in de Sitter Space

Quantization of spinor and vector free fields in 4-dimensional de Sitter space-time, in the ambient space notation, has been studied in the previous works. Various two-points functions for the above fields are presented in this paper. The interaction between the spinor field and the vector field is then studied by the abelian gauge theory. The U(1) gauge invariant spinor field equation is obtained in a coordinate independent way notation and their corresponding conserved currents are computed. The solution of the field equation is obtained by use of the perturbation method in terms of the Green's function. The null curvature limit is discussed in the final stage.

A Natural Renormalization of the One-Loop Effective Action for Scalar Field in Curved Space-time

It has been shown that the negative norm states necessarily appear in a covariant quantization of the free minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter space [1,2]. In this process ultraviolet and infrared divergences have been automatically eliminated [3]. A natural renormalization of the one-loop interacting quantum field in Minkowski space-time ($λϕ^4$ theory) has been achieved through the consideration of the negative norm states [4]. One-loop effective action for scalar field in a general curved space-time has been calculated by this method and a natural renormalization procedure in the one-loop approximation has been established.

Negative Norm States in de Sitter Space and QFT without Renormalization Procedure

In recent papers [1,2], it has been shown that the presence of negative norm states or negative frequency solutions are indispensable for a fully covariant quantization of the minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter space. Their presence, while leaving unchanged the physical content of the theory, offers the advantage of eliminating any ultraviolet divergence in the vacuum energy [2] and infrared divergence in the two point function [3]. We attempt here to extend this method to the interacting quantum field in Minkowski space-time. As an illustration of the procedure, we consider the $λϕ^4$ theory in Minkowski space-time. The mathematical consequences of this method is the disappearance of the ultraviolet divergence to the one-loop approximation. This means, the effect of these auxiliary negative norm states is to allow an automatic renormalization of the theory in this approximation.

Covariant two point function for minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter space-time

In a recent paper [1], it has been shown that negative norm states are indispensable for a fully covariant quantization of the minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter space. Their presence, while leaving unchanged the physical content of the theory, offers an automatic and covariant renormalization of the vacuum energy divergence. This paper is a completion of our previous work. An explicit construction of the covariant two-point function of the ``massless'' minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter space is given, which is free of any infrared divergence. The associated Schwinger commutator function and retarded Green's function are calculated in a fully gauge invariant way, which also means coordinate independent.
