Two Coupled Double Quantum Dots Systems as an working substance for Heat Machines

This paper presents a conceptual design for quantum heat machines using a pair of coupled double quantum dots (DQDs), each DQD with an excess electron to interact, as an working substance. We define a compression ratio as the ratio between the Coulomb couplings which describes the interaction between the electrons during the isochoric processes of the quantum Otto cycle and then we analyse the arising of different regimes of operations of our thermal machine. We also show how we can achieve a classically inconceivable Otto engine, when considering the effects due to the parameters related to the quantum tunneling of a single electron between each individual DQD.

Quantum coherence, quantum Fisher information and teleportation in the Ising-Heisenberg spin chain model of a heterotrimetallic Fe-Mn-Cu coordination polymer with magnetic impurity

The effect of non-uniform magnetic fields on the Ising-Heisenberg chain of a heterotrimetallic coordination compound $\mathrm{Fe-Mn-Cu}$, modeling a magnetic impurity on one dimer is studied. This impurity is configured by imposing non-uniform magnetic fields on each sites of $j-$th interstitial ionic dimer $\mathrm{Mn}^{2+}-\mathrm{Cu}^{2+}$ of the chain model. The quantum coherence and pairwise entanglement between spin-1/2 magnetic $\mathrm{Mn}^{2+}-\mathrm{Cu}^{2+}$ ion dimers clearly depend on the site which the impurity is located. It is demonstrated that when the magnetic impurity is considered for one magnetic dimer, by altering Ising nodal exchange interaction and Heisenberg anisotropy parameter of the impurity dimer, the entanglement can be enhanced to the maximal value 1 at a special fixed magnetic field. Moreover, we find that the quantum Fisher information of the model with magnetic impurity behaves considerably different from the original model. Besides of the quantum resources like concurrence, we prove that the quantum Fisher information can be used as new quantum tool for estimating the quantum phase transition in the model under consideration. On the other hand, thermal teleportation can be significantly optimized by adjusting the magnetic impurity, and a strong increase in the average fidelity is observed. Finally, the magnetic impurity can be manipulated to locally control the thermal entanglement, coherence, quantum Fisher information and teleportation unlike the original model where it is done globally.

Thermal entanglement and correlated coherence in two coupled double quantum dots systems

In this work, we investigate the thermal quantum correlations in two coupled double semiconductor charge qubits. This is carried out by deriving analytical expressions for both the thermal concurrence and the correlated coherence. We study, in detail, the effects of the tunneling parameters, the Coulomb interaction and the temperature on the thermal entanglement and on the correlated coherence. It is found that the Coulomb potential plays an important role in the thermal entanglement and in the correlated coherence of the system. The results also indicate that the Coulomb potential can be used for significant enhancement of the thermal entanglement and quantum coherence. One interesting aspect is that the correlated coherence capture all the thermal entanglement at low temperatures, i.e, the local coherences are totally transferred to the thermal entanglement. Finally, we focus on the role played by thermal entanglement and the correlated coherence responsible for quantum correlations. We show that in all cases, the correlated coherence is more robust than the thermal entanglement so that quantum algorithms based only on correlated coherence may be more robust than those based on entanglement. Our results also show that the entanglement can be tuned by varying the Coulomb interaction between electrons.

On the effects of an impurity in an Ising-$XXZ$ diamond chain on the thermal entanglement, on the quantum coherence and on the quantum teleportation

The effects of an impurity plaquette on the thermal quantum correlations measurement by the concurrence, on the quantum coherence quantified by the recently proposed $l_{1}$-norm of coherence and on the quantum teleportation in a Ising-$XXZ$ diamond chain are discussed. Such an impurity is formed by the XXZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers and the nearest-neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal and interstitial spins. All the interaction parameters are different from those of the rest of the chain. By tailoring them, the quantum entanglement and quantum coherence can be controlled and tuned. Therefore, the quantum resources -- thermal entanglement and quantum coherence -- of the model exhibit a clear performance improvement in comparison to the original model without impurities. We also demonstrate that the quantum teleportation can be tuned by its inclusion. The thermal teleportation is modified in significant way as well, and a strong increase in average fidelity is observed. We furnish the exact solution by the use of the transfer-matrix method.

Curved non-interacting two-dimensional electron gas with anisotropic mass

In the da Costa's thin-layer approach, a quantum particle moving in a 3D sample is confined on a curved thin interface. At the end, the interface effects are ignored and such quantum particle is localized on a curved surface. A geometric potential arises and, since it manifests due to this confinement procedure, it depends on the transverse to the surface mass component. This inspired us to consider, in this paper, the effects due to an anisotropic effective mass on a non-interacting two dimensional electron gas confined on a curved surface, a fact not explored before in this context. By tailoring the mass, many investigations carried out in the literature can be improved which in turns can be useful to better designing electronic systems without modifying the geometry of a given system. Some examples are examined here, as a particle on helicoidal surface, on a cylinder, on a catenoid and on a cone, with some possible applications briefly discussed.

Inertial and topological effects on a 2D electron gas

In this work, we study how the combination of rotation and a topological defect can influence the energy spectrum of a two dimensional electron gas in a strong perpendicular magnetic field. A deviation from the linear behavior of the energy as a function of magnetic field, caused by a tripartite term of the Hamiltonian, involving magnetic field, the topological charge of the defect and the rotation frequency, leads to novel features which include a range of magnetic field without corresponding Landau levels and changes in the Hall quantization steps.

Topological and non inertial effects on the interbank light absorption

In this work, we investigate the combined influence of the nontrivial topology introduced by a disclination and non inertial effects due to rotation, in the energy levels and the wave functions of a noninteracting electron gas confined to a two-dimensional pseudoharmonic quantum dot, under the influence of an external uniform magnetic field. The exact solutions for energy eigenvalues and wave functions are computed as functions of the applied magnetic field strength, the disclination topological charge, magnetic quantum number and the rotation speed of the sample. We investigate the modifications on the light interband absorption coefficient and absorption threshold frequency. We observe novel features in the system, including a range of magnetic field without corresponding absorption phenomena, which is due to a tripartite term of the Hamiltonian, involving magnetic field, the topological charge of the defect and the rotation frequency.
