Measure-valued valuations on star bodies

A complete classification of weak$^*$~continuous, measure-valued valuations is established on star bodies in $\R^n$. Consequences are an integral representation of rotation equivariant, measure-valued valuations and a characterization of dual area measures.

On the Semicontinuity of Functionals on Function Spaces

Results on the upper and lower semicontinuity of functionals defined on spaces of convex and more general functions are established. In particular, the following result is obtained. Let $\phi(v; \cdot)$ be the density of the absolutely continuous part of a Radon measure $\Phi(v; \cdot)$ associated to a function $v\colon X\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ defined on the topological measure space $(X,\lambda)$. For concave $\zeta\colon [0, \infty)\rightarrow[0,\infty)$ with $\lim_{t\to 0} \zeta(t)=0$ and $\lim_{t\to\infty}\zeta(t)/t= 0$, it is shown that the functional $v \mapsto \int_{X} \zeta(\phi(v;x))d\lambda(x)$ depends upper semicontinuously on $v$. Examples include functional affine surface areas for convex functions.

Unimodular Valuations beyond Ehrhart

A complete classification of unimodular valuations on the set of lattice polygons with values in the spaces of polynomials and formal power series, respectively, is established. The valuations are classified in terms of their behaviour with respect to dilation using extensions to unbounded polyhedra and basic invariant theory.

Valuations on Convex Bodies and Functions

An introduction to geometric valuation theory is given. The focus is on classification results for $\operatorname{SL}(n)$ invariant and rigid motion invariant valuations on convex bodies and on convex functions.

Affine Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequalities

Sharp affine Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequalities for functions on $\mathbb R^n$ are established, which are significantly stronger than (and directly imply) the sharp Hardy--Littlewood--Sobolev inequalities by Lieb and by Beckner, Dou, and Zhu. In addition, sharp reverse inequalities for the new inequalities and the affine fractional $L^2$ Sobolev inequalities are obtained for log-concave functions on $\mathbb R^n$.

The Hadwiger theorem on convex functions, IV: The Klain approach

New proofs of the Hadwiger theorem for smooth and for continuous valuations on convex functions are obtained, and the Klain-Schneider theorem on convex functions is established. In addition, an extension theorem for valuations defined on functions with lower dimensional domains is proved, and its connection to the Abel transform is explained.

Affine fractional $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities

Sharp affine fractional $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities for functions on $\mathbb R^n$ are established. The new inequalities are stronger than (and directly imply) the sharp fractional $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities. They are fractional versions of the affine $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities of Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang. In addition, affine fractional asymmetric $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities are established.

Affine Fractional Sobolev and Isoperimetric Inequalities

Sharp affine fractional Sobolev inequalities for functions on $\mathbb R^n$ are established. For each $0<s<1$, the new inequalities are significantly stronger than (and directly imply) the sharp fractional Sobolev inequalities of Almgren and Lieb. In the limit as $s\to 1^-$, the new inequalities imply the sharp affine Sobolev inequality of Gaoyong Zhang. As a consequence, fractional Petty projection inequalities are obtained that are stronger than the fractional Euclidean isoperimetric inequalities and a natural conjecture for radial mean bodies is proved.

Geometric valuation theory

A brief introduction to geometric valuation theory is given. The focus is on classification results for valuations on convex bodies and on function spaces.

The Hadwiger theorem on convex functions, II: Cauchy-Kubota formulas

A new version of the Hadwiger theorem on convex functions is established and an explicit representation of functional intrinsic volumes is found using new functional Cauchy-Kubota formulas. In addition, connections between functional intrinsic volumes and their classical counterparts are obtained and non-negative valuations are classified.

math.FA

The Hadwiger theorem on convex functions, I

A complete classification of all continuous, epi-translation and rotation invariant valuations on the space of super-coercive convex functions on ${\mathbb R}^n$ is established. The valuations obtained are functional versions of the classical intrinsic volumes. For their definition, singular Hessian valuations are introduced.

Minkowski valuations on convex functions

A classification of SL$(n)$ contravariant Minkowski valuations on convex functions and a characterization of the projection body operator are established. The associated LYZ measure is characterized. In addition, a new SL$(n)$ covariant Minkowski valuation on convex functions is defined and characterized.

Tensor valuations on lattice polytopes

The Ehrhart polynomial and the reciprocity theorems by Ehrhart \& Macdonald are extended to tensor valuations on lattice polytopes. A complete classification is established of tensor valuations of rank up to eight that are equivariant with respect to the special linear group over the integers and translation covariant. Every such valuation is a linear combination of the Ehrhart tensors which is shown to no longer hold true for rank nine.

Valuations on Convex Functions

All continuous, SL$(n)$ and translation invariant valuations on the space of convex functions on ${\mathbb R}^n$ are completely classified.

Weighted floating bodies and polytopal approximation

Asymptotic results for weighted floating bodies are established and used to obtain new proofs for the existence of floating areas on the sphere and in hyperbolic space and to establish the existence of floating areas in Hilbert geometries. Results on weighted best and random approximation and the new approach to floating areas are combined to derive new asymptotic approximation results on the sphere, in hyperbolic space and in Hilbert geometries.

Affine invariant valuations on polytopes

A classification of SL$(n)$ invariant valuations on the space of convex polytopes in $R^n$ without any continuity assumptions is established. A corresponding result is obtained on the space of convex polytopes in $R^n$ that contain the origin.

Minkowski valuations on lattice polytopes

A complete classification is established of Minkowski valuations on lattice polytopes that intertwine the special linear group over the integers and are translation invariant. In the contravariant case, the only such valuations are multiples of projection bodies. In the equivariant case, the only such valuations are generalized difference bodies combined with multiples of the newly defined discrete Steiner point.
