Multivariable Wold-Type Decomposition and Analytic Models for a class of left-inverse commuting pairs

This work establishes a multivariable Wold-type decomposition for left-inverse commuting $n$-tuples of bounded operators, built on the hypothesis that each component admits a Wold-type decomposition. For pairs of operators, we obtain a complete analytic model: every left-inverse commuting analytic toral $2$-isometric pair is unitarily equivalent to the pair of multiplication operator by co-ordinate functions $(M_{z_1}, M_{z_2})$ acting on some $\mathcal{E}$-valued Dirichlet-type space $\mathcal D_{\mathcal E}(\mu_1, \mu_2)$ associated with two finite positive operator-valued Borel measures $\mu_1$ and $\mu_2$ on the unit circle. An explicit functional model is further derived for the non-analytic case.

Wold-type decomposition for Doubly commuting two-isometries

In this article, we prove that any pair of doubly commuting $2$-isometries on a Hilbert space has a Wold-type decomposition. Moreover, the analytic part of the pair is unitary equivalent to the pair of multiplication by coordinate function on a Dirichlet-type space on the bidisc.

Dirichlet type spaces in the unit bidisc and Wandering Subspace Property for operator tuples

In this article, we define Dirichlet-type space $\mathcal{D}^{2}(\boldsymbol{\mu})$ over the bidisc $\mathbb D^2$ for any measure $\boldsymbol{\mu}\in\mathcal{P}\mathcal{M}_{+}(\mathbb T^2).$ We show that the set of polynomials is dense in $\mathcal{D}^{2}(\boldsymbol{\mu})$ and the pair $(M_{z_1}, M_{z_2})$ of multiplication operator by co-ordinate functions on $\mathcal{D}^{2}(\boldsymbol{\mu})$ is a pair of commuting $2$-isometries. Moreover, the pair $(M_{z_1}, M_{z_2})$ is a left-inverse commuting pair in the following sense: $L_{M_{z_i}} M_{z_j}=M_{z_j}L_{M_{z_i}}$ for $1\leqslant i\neq j\leqslant n,$ where $L_{M_{z_i}}$ is the left inverse of $M_{z_i}$ with $\ker L_{M_{z_i}} =\ker M_{z_i}^*$, $1\leqslant i \leqslant n$. Furthermore, it turns out that, for the class of left-inverse commuting tuple $\boldsymbol T=(T_1, \ldots, T_n)$ acting on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, the joint wandering subspace property is equivalent to the individual wandering subspace property. As an application of this, the article shows that the class of left-inverse commuting pair with certain splitting property is modelled by the pair of multiplication by co-ordinate functions $(M_{z_1}, M_{z_2})$ on $\mathcal{D}^{2}(\boldsymbol{\mu})$ for some $\boldsymbol{\mu}\in\mathcal{P}\mathcal{M}_{+}(\mathbb T^2).$

A characterization of completely alternating functions

In this article, we characterize completely alternating functions on an abelian semigroup $S$ in terms of completely monotone functions on the product semigroup $S\times \mathbb Z_+$. We also discuss completely alternating sequences induced by a class of rational functions and obtain a set of sufficient conditions (in terms of it's zeros and poles) to determine them. As an application, we show a complete characterization of several classes of completely monotone functions on $\mathbb Z_+^2$ induced by rational functions in two variables. We also derive a set of necessary conditions for the complete monotonicity of the sequence $\{\prod_{i=1}^{k}\frac{(n+a_i)}{(n+b_i)}\}_{n \in \mathbb Z_+}, a_i, b_i \in (0,\infty)$

$\clw$-hypercontractions and their model

We revisit the study of $ω$-hypercontractions corresponding to a single weight sequence $ω=\{ω_k\}_{k\geq0}$ introduced by Olofsson in \cite{O} and find an analogue of Nagy-Foias characteristic function in this setting. Explicit construction of characteristic functions is obtained and it is shown to be a complete unitary invariant. By considering a multi-weight sequence $\clw$ and $\clw$-hypercontractions we extend Olofsson's work \cite{O} in the multi-variable setting. Model for $\clw$-hypercontractions is obtained by finding their dilations on certain weighted Bergman spaces over the polydisc corresponding to the multi-weight sequence $\clw$. This recovers and provides a different proof of the earlier work of Curto and Vasilescu \cite{CVPoly, CV} for $γ$-contractive multi-operators through a particular choice of multi-weight sequence.

Beurling quotient modules on the polydisc

Let $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ denote the Hardy space over the polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$, $n \geq 2$. A closed subspace $\mathcal{Q} \subseteq H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ is called Beurling quotient module if there exists an inner function $θ\in H^\infty(\mathbb{D}^n)$ such that $\mathcal{Q} = H^2(\mathbb{D}^n) /θH^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$. We present a complete characterization of Beurling quotient modules of $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$: Let $\mathcal{Q} \subseteq H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ be a closed subspace, and let $C_{z_i} = P_{\mathcal{Q}} M_{z_i}|_{\mathcal{Q}}$, $i=1, \ldots, n$. Then $\mathcal{Q}$ is a Beurling quotient module if and only if \[ (I_{\mathcal{Q}} - C_{z_i}^* C_{z_i}) (I_{\mathcal{Q}} - C_{z_j}^* C_{z_j}) = 0 \qquad (i \neq j). \] We present two applications: first, we obtain a dilation theorem for Brehmer $n$-tuples of commuting contractions, and, second, we relate joint invariant subspaces with factorizations of inner functions. All results work equally well for general vector-valued Hardy spaces.

Commuting row contractions with polynomial characteristic functions

A characteristic function is a special operator-valued analytic function defined on the open unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ associated with an $n$-tuple of commuting row contraction on some Hilbert space. In this paper, we continue our study of the representations of $n$-tuples of commuting row contractions on Hilbert spaces, which have polynomial characteristic functions. Gleason's problem plays an important role in the representations of row contractions. We further complement the representations of our row contractions by proving theorems concerning factorizations of characteristic functions. We also emphasize the importance and the role of the noncommutative operator theory and noncommutative varieties to the classification problem of polynomial characteristic functions.

Commutant lifting in several variables

In this article we study commutant lifting, more generally intertwining lifting, for different reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces over two domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, namely the unit ball and the unit polydisc. The reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces we consider are mainly weighted Bergman spaces. Our commutant lifting results are explicit in nature and that is why these results are new even in one variable $(n=1)$ set up.

Factors of Hypercontractions

In this article, we study a class of contractive factors of $m$-hypercontractions for $m \in \mathbb{N}$. We find a characterization of such factors and this is achieved by finding explicit dilation of these factors on some weighted Bergman spaces. This is a generalization of the work done in [14].

Hypercontractions and factorizations of multipliers in one and several variables

We introduce the notion of characteristic functions for commuting tuples of hypercontractions on Hilbert spaces, as a generalization of the notion of Sz.-Nagy and Foias characteristic functions of contractions. We present an explicit method to compute characteristic functions of hypercontractions and relate characteristic functions by means of the factors of Schur-Agler class of functions and universal multipliers on the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n$. We also offer some factorization properties of multipliers. Characteristic functions of hypercontrctions are complete unitary invariant. The Drury-Arveson space and the weighted Bergman spaces on the unit ball continues to play a significant role in our consideration. Our results are new even in the special case of single hypercontractions.

Operator Positivity and Analytic Models of Commuting Tuples of Operators

We study analytic models of operators of class $C_{\cdot 0}$ with natural positivity assumptions. In particular, we prove that for an $m$-hypercontraction $T \in C_{\cdot 0}$ on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, there exists a Hilbert space $\mathcal{E}$ and a partially isometric multiplier $θ\in \mathcal{M}(H^2(\mathcal{E}), A^2_m(\mathcal{H}))$ such that \[\mathcal{H} \cong \mathcal{Q}_θ = A^2_m(\mathcal{H}) \ominus θH^2(\mathcal{E}), \quad \quad \mbox{and} \quad \quad T \cong P_{\mathcal{Q}_θ} M_z|_{\mathcal{Q}_θ},\]where $A^2_m$ is the weighted Bergman space and $H^2$ is the Hardy space over the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$. We then proceed to study and develop analytic models for doubly commuting $n$-tuples of operators and investigate their applications to joint shift co-invariant subspaces of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces over polydisc. In particular, we completely analyze doubly commuting quotient modules of a large class of reproducing kernel Hilbert modules, in the sense of Arazy and Englis, over the unit polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$.
