Identification of particles with Lorentz factor up to $10^{4}$ with Transition Radiation Detectors based on micro-strip silicon detectors

This work is dedicated to the study of a technique for hadron identification in the TeV momentum range, based on the simultaneous measurement of the energies and of the emission angles of the Transition Radiation (TR) X-rays with respect to the radiating particles. A detector setup has been built and tested with particles in a wide range of Lorentz factors (from about $10^3$ to about $4 \times 10^4$ crossing different types of radiators. The measured double-differential (in energy and angle) spectra of the TR photons are in a reasonably good agreement with TR simulation predictions.

Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 4. Deciphering the Nature of the Higgs Sector

This Report summarizes the results of the activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group in the period 2014-2016. The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Differential Distributions (CERN-2012-002), and Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 3. Higgs properties (CERN-2013-004). The current report serves as the baseline reference for Higgs physics in LHC Run 2 and beyond.

CP sensitive observables of a hypothetical heavy spin-0 particle with $γγ-$interactions dominant

We study observables sensitive to tensor structure of interactions of a hypothetical heavy spin-0 particle. It is assumed that the interactions of this particle are primary with photons; interactions with vector bosons $gg$, $WW$, $ZZ$, and quarks $t\bar{t}$ are suppressed. The above assumptions favor the production of this hypothetical particle through the vector boson fusion mechanism structurally dominated by $γγ$ and $γZ$ interactions. This particle will be produced in association with two light quarks. It is shown that the difference in azimuthal angle between the tagging jets provides an observable sensitive to the CP properties of this hypothetical particle.

Angular asymmetries as a probe for anomalous contributions to HZZ vertex at the LHC

In this article, the prospects for studying the tensor structure of the HZZ vertex with the LHC experiments are presented. The structure of tensor couplings in Higgs di-boson decays is investigated by measuring the asymmetries and by studing the shapes of the final state angular distributions. The expected background contributions, detector resolution, and trigger and selection efficiencies are taken into account. The potential of the LHC experiments to discover sizeable non-Standard Model contributions to the HZZ vertex with $300\;{\rm fb}^{-1}$ and $3000\;{\rm fb}^{-1}$ is demonstrated.
