Complete analysis of ensemble inequivalence in the Blume-Emery-Griffiths model

We study inequivalence of canonical and microcanonical ensembles in the mean-field Blume-Emery-Griffiths model. This generalizes previous results obtained for the Blume-Capel model. The phase diagram strongly depends on the value of the biquadratic exchange interaction K, the additional feature present in the Blume-Emery-Griffiths model. At small values of K, as for the Blume-Capel model, lines of first and second order phase transitions between a ferromagnetic and a paramagnetic phase are present, separated by a tricritical point whose location is different in the two ensembles. At higher values of K the phase diagram changes substantially, with the appearance of a triple point in the canonical ensemble which does not find any correspondence in the microcanonical ensemble. Moreover, one of the first order lines that starts from the triple point ends in a critical point, whose position in the phase diagram is different in the two ensembles. This line separates two paramagnetic phases characterized by a different value of the quadrupole moment. These features were not previously studied for other models and substantially enrich the landscape of ensemble inequivalence, identifying new aspects that had been discussed in a classification of phase transitions based on singularity theory. Finally, we discuss ergodicity breaking, which is highlighted by the presence of gaps in the accessible values of magnetization at low energies: it also displays new interesting patterns that are not present in the Blume-Capel model.

Magnetization and Thermal Entanglement of the Spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg Polymer Chain

We establish a solvable Heisenberg-Ising model on a spin-1 Ni-containing polymer chain, $[Ni (NN'-dmen) (μ-N_3)_2]$, with $NN'-dmen$ being $NN'-dimethylethylenediamine$, that fully covers the interaction characteristics of the material and by which, we can characterize all the peculiar magnetic features of the polymer, which has been partly studied in experiment. By purely analytical calculations, we can see that the magnetization exhibits three plateaus at zero, mid, and 3/4 of the saturation value at low temperatures below 2 K. The corresponding featuring peaks of magnetic susceptibility are clearly shown. The model also displays plateaus in thermal entanglement that captures the one-to-one correspondence between thermal entanglement plateaus and those of the magnetization. The calculations are done by the transfer matrix technique.

Magnetization and the Concurrence of the Spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg Pyrochlore Ladder

We have established a quantum antiferromagnetic Heisenberg-Ising model on a spin-1/2 pyrochlore edge-shared ladder with Heisenberg intra-rung and Ising inter-rung interactions as a perspicuous candidate to exhibit magnetization mid and zero plateaus, characteristic peaks of magnetic susceptibility, and thermal entanglement mid plateau. The model is exactly solvable and thus, all the essential properties such as the thermal entanglement and the magnetic properties of the system can be exactly calculated. The calculations are done both through the transfer matrix technique and through the reduced density matrix. The magnetization plateaus are observed at zero and half the saturation value and the magnetic susceptibility exhibits a clear demonstration of the associated characteristic peaks. The model also displays the mid plateau of the thermal entanglement as a function of the external magnetic field at low temperatures.

Entanglement, magnetic and quadrupole moments properties of the mixed spin Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain

Thermal entanglement, magnetic and quadrupole moments properties of the mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg model on a diamond chain are considered. Magnetization and quadrupole moment plateaus are observed for the antiferromagnetic couplings. Thermal negativity as a measure of quantum entanglement of the mixed spin system is calculated. Different behavior for the negativity is obtained for the various values of Heisenberg dipolar and quadrupole couplings. The intermediate plateau of the negativity has been observed at absence of the single-ion anisotropy and quadrupole interaction term. When dipolar and quadrupole couplings are equal there is a similar behavior of negativity and quadrupole moment.

Cyclic Period-3 Window in Antiferromagnetic Potts and Ising Models on Recursive Lattices

The magnetic properties of the antiferromagnetic Potts model with two-site interaction and the antiferromagnetic Ising model with three-site interaction on recursive lattices have been studied. A cyclic period-3 window has been revealed by the recurrence relation method in the antiferromagnetic Q-state Potts model on the Bethe lattice (at Q<2) and in the antiferromagnetic Ising model with three-site interaction on the Husimi cactus. The Lyapunov exponents have been calculated, modulated phases and a chaotic regime in the cyclic period-3 window have been found for one-dimensional rational mappings determined the properties of these systems.

Magnetic properties, Lyapunov exponent and superstability of the spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond chain

The exactly solvable spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond chain has been considered. We have found the exact results for the magnetization by using recursion relation method. The existence of the magnetization plateau has been observed at one third of the saturation magnetization in the antiferromagnetic case. Some ground-state properties of the model are examined. At low temperatures, the system has two ferrimagnetic (FRI1 and FRI2) phases and one paramagnetic (PRM) phase. Lyapunov exponents for the various values of the exchange parameters and temperatures have been analyzed. It have also been shown that the maximal Lyapunov exponent exhibits plateau. Lyapunov exponents exhibit different behavior for two ferrimagnetic phases. We have found the existence of the supercritical point for the multi-dimensional rational mapping of the spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on diamond chain for the first time at absence of the external magnetic field and $T \rightarrow 0$ in the antiferromagnetic case.

Thermal entanglement in exactly solvable Ising-XXZ diamond chain structure

Most quantum entanglement investigations are focused on two qubits or some finite (small) chain structure, since the infinite chain structure is a considerably cumbersome task. Therefore, the quantum entanglement properties involving an infinite chain structure is quite important, not only because the mathematical calculation is cumbersome but also because real materials are well represented by an infinite chain. Thus, in this paper we consider an entangled diamond chain with Ising and anisotropic Heisenberg (Ising-XXZ) coupling. Two interstitial particles are coupled through Heisenberg coupling or simply two-qubit Heisenberg, which could be responsible for the emergence of entanglement. These two-qubit Heisenberg operators are interacted with two nodal Ising spins. An infinite diamond chain is organized by interstitial-interstitial and nodal-interstitial (dimer-monomer) site couplings. We are able to get the thermal average of the two-qubit operator, called the reduced two-qubit density operator. Since these density operators are spatially separated, we could obtain the concurrence (entanglement) directly in the thermodynamic limit. The thermal entanglement (concurrence) is constructed for different values of the anisotropic Heisenberg parameter, magnetic field and temperature. We also observed the threshold temperature via the parameter of anisotropy, Heisenberg and Ising interaction, external magnetic field, and temperature.

Thermal Entanglement of a Spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg Model on a Symmetrical Diamond Chain

The entanglement quantum properties of a spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on a symmetrical diamond chain were analyzed. Due to the separable nature of the Ising-type exchange interactions between neighboring Heisenberg dimers, calculation of the entanglement can be performed exactly for each individual dimer. Pairwise thermal entanglement was studied in terms of the isotropic Ising-Heisenberg model, and analytical expressions for the concurrence (as a measure of bipartite entanglement) were obtained. The effects of external magnetic field $H$ and next-nearest neighbor interaction $J_m$ between nodal Ising sites were considered. The ground-state structure and entanglement properties of the system were studied in a wide range of the coupling constant values. Various regimes with different values of the ground-state entanglement were revealed, depending on the relation between competing interaction strengths. Finally, some novel effects, such as the two-peak behavior of concurrence versus temperature and coexistence of phases with different values of magnetic entanglement were observed.

Geometrical frustration of an extended Hubbard diamond chain in the quasi-atomic limit

We study the geometrical frustration of extended Hubbard model on diamond chain, where vertical lines correspond to the hopping and repulsive Coulomb interaction terms between sites, while the rest of them represent only the Coulomb repulsion one. The phase diagrams at zero temperature show quite curious phases: five types of frustrated states and four types of non-frustrated ones, ordered antiferromagnetically. Although decoration transformation was derived to spin coupling systems, this approach can be applied to electron coupling ones. Thus the extended Hubbard model can be mapped onto another effective extended Hubbard model in atomic limit with additional three and four-body couplings. This effective model is solved exactly through transfer matrix method. In addition, using the exact solution of this model we discuss several thermodynamic properties away from half filled band, such as chemical potential behavior, electronic density, entropy, where we study the geometrical frustration, consequently we investigate the specific heat as well.

Magnetic Properties and Thermal Entanglement on a Triangulated Kagome Lattice

The magnetic and entanglement thermal (equilibrium) properties in spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on a triangulated Kagome lattice are analyzed by means of variational mean-field like treatment based on Gibbs-Bogoliubov inequality. Because of the separable character of Ising-type exchange interactions between the Heisenberg trimers the calculation of quantum entanglement in a self-consistent field can be performed for each of the trimers individually. The concurrence in terms of three qubit isotropic Heisenberg model in effective Ising field is non-zero even in the absence of a magnetic field. The magnetic and entanglement properties exhibit common (plateau and peak) features observable via (antferromagnetic) coupling constant and external magnetic field. The critical temperature for the phase transition and threshold temperature for concurrence coincide in the case of antiferromagnetic coupling between qubits. The existence of entangled and disentangled phases in saturated and frustrated phases is established.

Arnold Tongues and Feigenbaum Exponents of the Rational Mapping for Q-state Potts Model on Recursive Lattice: Q<2

We considered Q-state Potts model on Bethe lattice in presence of external magnetic field for Q<2 by means of recursion relation technique. This allows to study the phase transition mechanism in terms of the obtained one dimensional rational mapping. The convergence of Feigenabaum $α$ and $δ$ exponents for the aforementioned mapping is investigated for the period doubling and three cyclic window. We regarded the Lyapunov exponent as an order parameter for the characterization of the model and discussed its dependence on temperature and magnetic field. Arnold tongues analogs with winding numbers w=1/2, w=2/4 and w=1/3 (in the three cyclic window) are constructed for Q<2. The critical temperatures of the model are discussed and their dependence on Q is investigated. We also proposed an approximate method for constructing Arnold tongues via Feigenbaum $δ$ exponent.

Topological Disorder in Spin Models on Hierarchical Lattices

A general approach for the description of spin systems on hierarchial lattices with coordination number $q$ as a dynamical variable is proposed. The ferromagnetic Ising model on the Bethe lattice was studied as a simple example demonstrating our method. The annealed and partly annealed versions of disorder concerned with the lattice coordination number are invented and discussed. Recurrent relations are obtained for the evaluation of magnetization. The magnetization is calculated for the particular disorder choices, $q=2,3$ and $q=3,4$. A nontrivial localization of critical point is revealed.

Magnetization plateaus in the Ising limit of the multiple-spin exchange model on plaquette chain

We consider the Ising spin system, which stems out from the corresponding Multiple-spin exchange (MSE) Hamiltonian, on the special one--dimensional lattice, diamond-plaquette chain. Using the technique e of transfer-matrix we obtain the exact expression for system free energy with the aid of which we obtain the magnetization function. Analyzing magnetization curves for varies values of temperature and couplin constants we found the magnetization plateaux at 1/3 and 2/3 of the full moment. The corresponding microscopic spin configurations are unknown by virtue of high frustration.

An exact solution on the ferromagnetic Face-Cubic spin model on a Bethe lattice

The lattice spin model with $Q$--component discrete spin variables restricted to have orientations orthogonal to the faces of $Q$-dimensional hypercube is considered on the Bethe lattice, the recursive graph which contains no cycles. The partition function of the model with dipole--dipole and quadrupole--quadrupole interaction for arbitrary planar graph is presented in terms of double graph expansions. The latter is calculated exactly in case of trees. The system of two recurrent relations which allows to calculate all thermodynamic characteristics of the model is obtained. The correspondence between thermodynamic phases and different types of fixed points of the RR is established. Using the technique of simple iterations the plots of the zero field magnetization and quadrupolar moment are obtained. Analyzing the regions of stability of different types of fixed points of the system of recurrent relations the phase diagrams of the model are plotted. For $Q \leq 2$ the phase diagram of the model is found to have three tricritical points, whereas for $Q> 2$ there are one triple and one tricritical points.

Observation of Resonant Diffusive Radiation in Random Multilayered Systems

Diffusive Radiation is a new type of radiation predicted to occur in randomly inhomogeneous media due to the multiple scattering of pseudophotons. This theoretical effect is now observed experimentally. The radiation is generated by the passage of electrons of energy 200KeV-2.2MeV through a random stack of films in the visible light region. The radiation intensity increases resonantly provided the Cherenkov condition is satisfied for the average dielectric constant of the medium. The observed angular dependence and electron resonance energy are in agreement with the theoretical predictions. These observations open a road to application of diffusive radiation in particle detection, astrophysics, soft X-ray generation and etc.. `

Magnetization plateaus in the ferromagnetic-ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic Ising chain

The Ising chain consisting of the antiferromagneticaly coupled ferromagnetic trimer is considered in the external magnetic field. In the framework of the transfer-matrix formalism the thermodynamics of the system is described. The magnetization per site (m) is obtained as the explicit function of the external magnetic field (H). The corresponding plots of m(H) are drawn. Two qualitatively different regions of the values of coupling constants are established: weak antiferromagnetic coupling (J_A<3J_F) and the strong antiferromagnetic coupling $(J_A\geq3J_F)$. For the latter case the magnetization curve with plateau at $m/m_{sat}=1/3$ is obtained. It is proven that the plateau is caused by the stability of spatially modulated spin structure <3111>. The values of magnetic field determining the width of the plateau are obtained in the limit of zero temperature.

Yang-Lee Zeros of the Q-state Potts Model on Recursive Lattices

The Yang-Lee zeros of the Q-state Potts model on recursive lattices are studied for non-integer values of Q. Considering 1D lattice as a Bethe lattice with coordination number equal to two, the location of Yang-Lee zeros of 1D ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic Potts models is completely analyzed in terms of neutral periodical points. Three different regimes for Yang-Lee zeros are found for Q>1 and 0 1. Complex magnetic field metastability regions are studied for the Q>1 and 0<Q<1 cases. The Yang-Lee edge singularity exponents are calculated for both 1D and Bethe lattice Potts models. The dynamics of metastability regions for different values of Q is studied numerically.

Partition function zeros of the one-dimensional Potts model: The recursive method

The Yang-Lee, Fisher and Potts zeros of the one-dimensional Q-state Potts model are studied using the theory of dynamical systems. An exact recurrence relation for the partition function is derived. It is shown that zeros of the partition function may be associated with neutral fixed points of the recurrence relation. Further, a general equation for zeros of the partition function is found and a classification of the Yang-Lee, Fisher and Potts zeros is given. It is shown that the Fisher zeros in a nonzero magnetic field are located on several lines in the complex temperature plane and that the number of these lines depends on the value of the magnetic field. Analytical expressions for the densities of the Yang-Lee, Fisher and Potts zeros are derived. It is shown that densities of all types of zeros of the partition function are singular at the edge singularity points with the same critical exponent σ=-1/2.
