CAPTCHA Types and Breaking Techniques: Design Issues, Challenges, and Future Research Directions

The proliferation of the Internet and mobile devices has resulted in malicious bots access to genuine resources and data. Bots may instigate phishing, unauthorized access, denial-of-service, and spoofing attacks to mention a few. Authentication and testing mechanisms to verify the end-users and prohibit malicious programs from infiltrating the services and data are strong defense systems against malicious bots. Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) is an authentication process to confirm that the user is a human hence, access is granted. This paper provides an in-depth survey on CAPTCHAs and focuses on two main things: (1) a detailed discussion on various CAPTCHA types along with their advantages, disadvantages, and design recommendations, and (2) an in-depth analysis of different CAPTCHA breaking techniques. The survey is based on over two hundred studies on the subject matter conducted since 2003 to date. The analysis reinforces the need to design more attack-resistant CAPTCHAs while keeping their usability intact. The paper also highlights the design challenges and open issues related to CAPTCHAs. Furthermore, it also provides useful recommendations for breaking CAPTCHAs.

General Solutions of Cosmological Equations with Inequalities for Perfect Fluid and Scalar Field

Spherically symmetric cosmological equations in the usual FLRW coordinates are explored, with different sources. The first couples a perfect fluid with a quintessence scalar field and the second couples a perfect fluid to a tachyonic scalar field. In both cases, in the inflationary regime, the scale factor a(t) and its first two time derivatives are positive definite. Both sources in the matter phase yield a scale factor and its first derivative as positive definite. In both cases and in each phase, the general solutions of the differential equations together with the algebraic and differential inequalities are obtained. As special cases, exponential, hyperbolic, and power law inflation, as well as power law expansion for the matter phase are all derived from the general solutions. With recent data on baryonic matter, Hubble parameter and deceleration parameter, the relative percentages of baryonic matter, daek matter and dark energy are calculated. The quintessence model yields: 4% baryonic matter, 18% dark matter, and 78% dark energy. The tachyonic model gives: 4% baryonic matter, 36% dark matter, and 60% dark energy.

Relativistic particle, fluid and plasma mechanics coupled to gravity

In this introductory review article, we explore the special relativistic equations of particle motions and the consequent derivation of Einstein's famous formula $E=mc^2$. Next, we study the special relativistic electromagnetic field equations and generalizations of Lorentz equations of motion for charged particles. We then introduce the special relativistic gravitational field as a symmetric second order tensor field. Particle motions in the presence of static gravity are explored which could be used to study planetary dynamics, revealing perihelion shifts. Next, we investigate the system of consisting of pressureless plasmas and neutral perfect fluids coupled to the gravitational field. In that arena, we derive the relativistic Euler equation. Finally, we investigate the relativistic dynamics of a perfect fluid plasma and extensions to viscous flow and derive the relativistic Navier-Stokes equation.

General solutions of Einstein's spherically symmetric gravitational equations with junction conditions

Einstein's spherically symmetric interior gravitational equations are investigated. Following Synge's procedure, the most general solution of the equations is furnished in case $T^{1}_{1}$ and $T^{4}_{4}$ are prescribed. The existence of a total mass function, $M(r,t)$, is rigorously proved. Under suitable restrictions on the total mass function, the Schwarzschild mass $M(r,t)=m$, implicitly defines the boundary of the spherical body as $r=B(t)$. Both Synge's junction conditions as well as the continuity of the second fundamental form are examined and solved in a general manner. The weak energy conditions for an \emph{arbitrary boost} are also considered. The most general solution of the spherically symmetric anisotropic fluid model satisfying both junction conditions is furnished. In the final section, various exotic solutions are explored using the developed scheme including gravitational instantons, interior $T$-domains and $D$-dimensional generalizations.
