Rainbow Neighbourhoods of Graphs

In this paper, we introduce the notion of the rainbow neighbourhood and a related graph parameter namely, the rainbow neighbourhood number of a graph $G$. We report on preliminary results thereof. We also establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a rainbow neighbourhood in the line graph of a graph $G$.

A note on chromatic blending of colour clusters

For a colour cluster $\C =(\mathcal{C}_1,\mathcal{C}_2, \mathcal{C}_3,\dots,\mathcal{C}_\ell)$, $\mathcal{C}_i$ is a colour class, and $|\mathcal{C}_i|=r_i \geq 1$, we investigate a simple connected graph structure $G^{\C}$, which represents a graphical embodiment of the colour cluster such that the chromatic number $χ(G^{\C})= \ell,$ and the number of edges is a maximum, denoted $\varepsilon^+(G^{\C})$. We also extend the study by inducing new colour clusters recursively by blending the colours of all pairs of adjacent vertices. Recursion repeats until a maximal homogeneous blend between all $\ell$ colours is obtained. This is called total chromatic blending. Total chromatic blending models for example, total genetic, chemical, cultural or social orderliness integration.

Chromatic Zagreb indices for graphical embodiment of colour clusters

For a colour cluster $\mathbb{C} =(\mathcal{C}_1,\mathcal{C}_2, \mathcal{C}_3,\ldots,\mathcal{C}_\ell)$, where $\mathcal{C}_i$ is a colour class such that $|\mathcal{C}_i|=r_i$, a positive integer, we investigate two types of simple connected graph structures $G^{\mathbb{C}}_1$, $G^{\mathbb{C}}_2$ which represent graphical embodiments of the colour cluster such that the chromatic numbers $χ(G^{\mathbb{C}}_1)=χ(G^{\mathbb{C}}_2)=\ell$ and $\min\{\varepsilon(G^{\mathbb{C}}_1)\}=\min\{\varepsilon(G^{\mathbb{C}}_2)\} =\sum\limits_{i=1}^{\ell}r_i-1$. Therefore, the problem is the edge-minimality inverse to finding the chromatic number of a given simple connected graph. In this paper, we also discuss the chromatic Zagreb indices corresponding to $G^{\mathbb{C}}_1$, $G^{\mathbb{C}}_2$.

A Note on the Tattoo Index of Graphs

Consider a network $D$ of pipes which have to be cleaned using some cleaning agents, called brushes, assigned to some vertices. The tattooing of a simple connected directed graph $D$ is a particular type of the cleaning in which an arc are coloured by the colour of the colour-brush transiting it and the tattoo number of $D$ is a corresponding derivative of brush numbers in it. In this paper, we introduce a new concept, called the tattoo index of a given graph $G$, which is an efficiency index related to the tattooing sequence and we establish some introductory results on this parameter.

Tattooing and the Tattoo Number of Graphs

Consider a network $D$ of pipes which have to be cleaned using some cleaning agents, called brushes, assigned to some vertices. The minimum number of brushes required for cleaning the network $D$ is called its brush number. The tattooing of a simple connected directed graph $D$ is a particular type of the cleaning in which an arc are coloured by the colour of the colour-brush transiting it and the tattoo number of $D$ is a corresponding derivative of brush numbers in it. Tattooing along an out-arc of a vertex $v$ may proceed if a minimum set of colour-brushes is allocated (primary colours) or combined with those which have arrived (including colour blends) together with mutation of permissible new colour blends, has cardinality greater than or equal to $d^+_G(v)$.

Topological Integer Additive Set-Sequential Graphs

Let $\mathbb{N}_0$ denote the set of all non-negative integers and $X$ be any non-empty subset of $\mathbb{N}_0$. Denote the power set of $X$ by $\mathcal{P}(X)$. An integer additive set-labeling (IASL) of a graph $G$ is an injective set-valued function $f:V(G)\to \mathcal{P}(X)$ such that the induced function $f^+:E(G) \to \mathcal{P}(X)$ is defined by $f^+ (uv) = f(u)+ f(v)$, where $f(u)+f(v)$ is the sumset of $f(u)$ and $f(v)$. If the associated set-valued edge function $f^+$ is also injective, then such an IASL is called an integer additive set-indexer (IASI). An IASL $f$ is said to be a topological IASL (TIASL) if $f(V(G))\cup \{\emptyset\}$ is a topology of the ground set $X$. An IASL is said to be an integer additive set-sequential labeling (IASSL) if $f(V(G))\cup f^+(E(G))= \mathcal{P}(X)-\{\emptyset\}$. An IASL of a given graph $G$ is said to be a topological integer additive set-sequential labeling of $G$, if it is a topological integer additive set-labeling as well as an integer additive set-sequential labeling of $G$. In this paper, we study the conditions required for a graph $G$ to admit this type of IASL and propose some important characteristics of the graphs which admit this type of IASLs.

On New Thue Colouring Concepts of Certain Graphs

The Thue colouring of a graph is a colouring such that the sequence of vertex colours of any path of even and finite length in $G$ is non-repetitive. The change in the Thue number, $π(G)$, as edges are iteratively removed from a graph $G$ is studied. The notion of the $τ$-index denoted, $τ(G)$, of a graph $G$ is introduced as well. $τ(G)$ serves as a measure for the efficiency of edge deletion to reduce the Thue chromatic number of a graph.

On Disjunctive and Conjunctive Set-Labelings of Graphs

Let $X$ be a non-empty set and $\sP(X)$ be its power set. A set-valuation or a set-labeling of a given graph $G$ is an injective function $f:V(G) \to \sP(X)$ such that the induced function $f^{\ast}:E(G) \to \sP(X)$ defined by $f^{\ast} (uv) = f(u)\ast f(v)$, where $\ast$ is a binary operation on sets. A set-indexer of a graph $G$ is an injective set-valued function $f:V(G) \to \sP(X)$ such that the induced function $f^{\ast}:E(G) \to \sP(X)$ is also injective. In this paper, two types of set-labelings, called conjunctive set-labeling and disjunctive set-labeling, of graphs are introduced and some properties and characteristics of these types of set-labelings of graphs are studied.

The $b$-Chromatic Number of Certain Graphs and Digraphs

The studies on $b$-chromatic number attracted much interest since its introduction. In this paper, we discuss the $b$-chromatic number of certain classes of graphs and digraphs. The notion of a new general family of graphs called the Chithra graphs of a graph $G$ are also introduced.

A Study on Sprout Graphs

Sprout graphs are finite directed graphs matured over a finite subset of the non-negative time line. A simple undirected connected graph on at least two vertices is required to construct an infant graph to mature from. The maxi-max arc-weight principle and the maxi-min arc-weight principle are introduced in the paper. These principles are used to determine the maximum and minimum maturity weight of a sprout graph.

On the Curling Number of Certain Graphs

In this paper, we introduce the concept of curling subsequence of simple, finite and connected graphs. A curling subsequence is a maximal subsequence $C$ of the degree sequence of a simple connected graph $G$ for which the curling number $cn(G)$ corresponds to the curling number of the degree sequence per se and hence we call it the curling number of the graph $G$. A maximal degree subsequence with equal entries is called an identity subsequence. The number of identity curling subsequences in a simple connected graph $G$ is denoted $ic(G).$ We show that the curling number conjecture holds for the degree sequence of a simple connected graph $G$ on $n \geq 1$ vertices. We also introduce the notion of the compound curling number of a simple connected graph $G$ and then initiate a study on the curling number of certain standard graphs like Jaco graphs and set-graphs.

A Note on the Sparing Number of the Sieve Graphs of Certain Graphs

Let $\mathbb{N}_0$ denote the set of all non-negative integers and $\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ be its power set. An integer additive set-indexer (IASI) of a given graph $G$ is an injective function $f:V(G)\to \mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ such that the induced function $f^+:E(G) \to \mathcal{P}(\mathbb{N}_0)$ defined by $f^+ (uv) = f(u)+ f(v)$ is also injective. An IASI $f$ of a graph $G$ is said to be a weak IASI of $G$ if $|f^+(uv)|=\max(|f(u)|,|f(v)|)$ for all $u,v\in V(G)$. A graph which admits a weak IASI may be called a weak IASI graph. The sparing number of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of edges with singleton set-labels required for a graph $G$ to admit a weak IASI. In this paper, we introduce the notion of $k$-sieve graphs of a given graph and study their sparing numbers.
