Beat-to-Beat Fetal Heart Rate Analysis Using Portable Medical Device and Wavelet Transformation Technique

A beat-to-beat Tele-fetal Monitoring and comparison with clinical data are studied with a wavelet transformation approach. Tele-fetal monitoring is a big progress toward a wearable medical device for a pregnant woman capable of obtaining prenatal care at home. We apply a wavelet transformation algorithm for fetal cardiac monitoring using a portable fetal Doppler medical device. Choosing an appropriate mother wavelet, 85 different mother wavelets are investigated. The efficiency of the proposed method is evaluated using two data sets including public and clinical. From publicly available data on PhysioBank, and simultaneous clinical measurement, we prove that the comparison between obtained fetal heart rate by the algorithm and the baselines yields a promising accuracy beyond 95%. Finally, we conclude that the proposed algorithm would be a robust technique for any similar tele-fetal monitoring approach.

Quantum atom-light interfaces in the gaussian description for spin-1 systems

We extend the covariance-matrix description of atom--light quantum interfaces, originally developed for real and effective spin-1/2 atoms, to include "spin alignment" degrees of freedom. This allows accurate modeling of optically-probed spin-1 ensembles in arbitrary magnetic fields. We also include technical noise terms that are very common in experimental situations. These include magnetic field noise, variable atom number and the effect of magnetic field inhomogeneities. We demonstrate the validity of our extended model by comparing numerical simulations to a free--induction decay (FID) measurement of polarized $^{87}$Rb atoms in the $f = 1$ ground state. We qualitatively and quantitatively reproduce experimental results with all free parameters of the simulations fixed. The model can be easily extended to larger spin systems, and adapted to more complicated experimental situations.

Real-time vector field tracking with a cold-atom magnetometer

We demonstrate a fast three-axis optical magnetometer using cold, optically-trapped $^{87}$Rb gas as a sensor. By near-resonant Faraday rotation we record the free-induction decay following optical pumping along two orthogonal axes to obtain the three field components and one gradient component. A single measurement achieves shot-noise limited sub-nT sensitivity in 1 ms, with transverse spatial resolution of $\sim$ 20 $μ$m. We make a detailed analysis of the shot-noise-limited sensitivity.

GHZ and W Entanglement Witnesses for the Non-interacting Fermi gas

The existence and nature of tripartite entanglement of a noninteracting Fermi gas (NIFG) is investigated. Three new classes of parameterized entanglement witnesses (EWs) are introduced with the aim of detecting genuine tripartite entanglement in the three-body reduced density matrix and discriminating between the presence of the two types of genuine tripartite entanglement, W\B and GHZ\W. By choosing appropriate EW operators, the problem of finding GHZ and W EWs is reduced to linear programming. Specifically, we devise new W EWs based on a spin-chain model with periodic boundary conditions, and we construct a class of parametrized GHZ EWs by linearly combining projection operators corresponding to all the different state-vector types arising for a three-fermion system. A third class of EWs is provided by a GHZ stabilizer operator capable of distinguishing W\B from GHZ\B entanglement, which is not possible with $W$ EWs. Implementing these classes of EWs, it is found that all states containing genuine tripartite entanglement are of W type, and hence states containing GHZ\W genuine tripartite entanglement do not arise. Some genuine tripartite entangled states that have a positive partial transpose (PPT) with respect to some bipartition are detected. Finally, it is demonstrated that a NIFG does not exhibit "pure" W\B genuine tripartite entanglement: three-party entanglement without any separable or biseparable admixture does not occur.
