Sharp State-Independent Uncertainty Relations for Multipartite systems

Uncertainty relations constrain the fluctuations of incompatible observables, but most familiar bounds depend on the quantum state. State-independent uncertainty relations instead ask how much fluctuation remains unavoidable for every quantum state. For observables generated by a continuous symmetry, sharp state-independent bounds are known when the symmetry representation is irreducible. Multipartite collective systems, however, generally appear as reducible tensor-product representations of a symmetry algebra, which raises the question of how to determine their total uncertainty. We resolve this problem for multipartite quantum systems with a compact semisimple symmetry algebra $\mathfrak g$. Exploiting the symmetry structure, we formulate a general framework for state-independent uncertainty based on representation theory. The total variance admits an exact decomposition into intrinsic fluctuations within irreducible sectors and a nonnegative dispersion between sectors. This yields the sharp state-independent bound for the total variance $Δ_ρ^2(\mathfrak g)$ on the multipartite Hilbert space $\mathcal H$ \[ \min_ρΔ_ρ^2(\mathfrak g) = \min_{λ\inΛ(\mathcal H)} 2\langleλ,δ\rangle, \] where $ρ$ is any density operator on $\mathcal H$, $Λ(\mathcal H)$ is the set of highest weights $λ$ labeling those sectors, and $δ$ is the Weyl vector. This demonstrates that the ultimate uncertainty is completely controlled by its intrinsic symmetry structure. As a special example, this result confirms our previous conjecture that the total uncertainty floor of collective spin-$1/2$ systems depends only on the parity of the particle number. We further illustrate the framework for multipartite spin-$1$ systems, demonstrating that the same symmetry-sector mechanism persists beyond spin-$1/2$.

A skew Murnaghan--Nakayama rule for Hopf dual pairs

We develop a uniform skew Murnaghan--Nakayama theory for graded Hopf dual pairs equipped with a nondegenerate Hopf pairing. Using the completed Cauchy element, its grouplike factorization, and the resulting partial contraction operators, we establish a general skew Cauchy identity together with an abstract skew Murnaghan--Nakayama rule. Specializing this framework recovers and extends the classical skew Murnaghan--Nakayama rule for symmetric functions, and yields new skew Murnaghan--Nakayama formulas in several settings, including the dual pairs $(\mathrm{NSym}, \mathrm{QSym}) $ and $(Λ^{(k)}, Λ_{(k)}) $ arising in $k$-Schur theory, as well as the type $C$ affine Grassmannian context. As applications, we obtain generating functions for irreducible characters of Ariki--Koike algebras, including their type $A$ and type $B$ specializations, as well as Hecke--Clifford algebras and $\mathfrak q$-rook monoid algebras. We also give ribbon-tableau expansions for skew $(q,t)$-Kostka polynomials and for the entries of the inverse transition matrix, thereby answering a question of Carbonara (1998). Finally, by specializing the auxiliary alphabet $Y$ to sums of powers of primitive roots of unity, we derive a skew plethystic Murnaghan--Nakayama formula together with a Schur expansion for skew modular Schur functions; as a further consequence, we confirm Walker's conjecture (1994) by showing that if the transition from the modular Schur functions to the Schur basis is trivial in the row indexed by $λ$, then $λ$ must be a $k$-core.

Zassenhaus Expansion in Solving the Schrödinger Equation

A fundamental challenge in quantum simulation is approximating the time-evolution operator \(U(t)=e^{-i\mathcal{H}t}\) generated by a large sum of typically non-commuting Hamiltonians using resource-efficient circuits compatible with near-term devices. We present a refinement of fixed-depth Lie-theoretic simulation that incorporates second-order Zassenhaus commutator corrections into a Cartan/KAK decomposition template. The resulting approximation retains constant circuit depth while achieving local error \(\mathcal{O}(t^3)\) in operator norm under standard boundedness assumptions, and it substantially reduces gate counts relative to first-order product formulas when time is large and depth is constrained. The method leverages closure of Pauli commutators inside Pauli-generated Lie algebras, enabling symbolic commutator evaluation and avoiding explicit matrix exponentiation in classical preprocessing. This yields a structured pathway to compile lattice and chemistry-inspired Hamiltonians with locality constraints into fixed-depth circuits suitable for noisy intermediate-scale quantum hardware.

Unified monogamy and polygamy relations for multipartite systems

For a bipartite entanglement measure $\mathcal{E}$ that satisfies the $γ$th-power monogamy inequality (Eq.~\eqref{e:chap1-ineq1}), and for its assisted counterpart $\mathcal{E}_a$ that obeys the $δ$th-power polygamy inequality (Eq.~\eqref{e:chap1-ineq2}), we introduce a unified, tunable framework indexed by a parameter $m\geq1$. Within this framework, we derive two hierarchical families of refined inequalities: a tightened $α$-power monogamy relation for $\mathcal{E}$, valid for all $α\geq mγ$; a tightened $β$-power polygamy relation for $\mathcal{E}_a$, applicable for $(m-1)δ< β\leq mδ$. As $m$ increases, the bounds become progressively tighter, recovering known results at $m=1$. Notably, the optimal monogamy bound emerges as a piecewise function of $α$, with additional correction terms activated as $α$ crosses successive integer thresholds, thereby offering a sharper characterization of entanglement distribution. We demonstrate that our results generalize and strengthen existing monogamy and polygamy relations through analytical comparisons and numerical evaluations using concurrence and concurrence of assistance. This hierarchical, parameterized approach offers enhanced and flexible tools for applications in quantum communication, quantum networks, and multipartite quantum information processing.

Measures and generalizations of dual Littlewood identities

We introduce three families of vectors $|\underlineλ^{so}\rangle$, $|\underlineλ^{sp}\rangle$ and $|\underlineλ^{o}\rangle$ parametrized by partitions in the Fock space by using products of adjoint vertex operators. We show that the quotient space of the dual vacuum vector is spanned by the partition vectors indexed by a special family of partitions. The partition-indexed vectors also help us to derive the dual Littlewood identities of types B, C, and D in a new manner associated to the special family of partitions. As an application, we obtain a new free fermionic construction to show that the measures related to dual Littlewood identities introduced by Rains \cite[Section 7]{Rai2000} and Betea \cite[Section 3]{Be2020} are determinantal with repect to some explicit correlation kernels. Furthermore we establish a number of generalized Littlewood identities summed over certain restricted partitions by computing the inner products with elements indexed by one-column partitions {or generalized partitions $(0^m)$} in the complete dual Fock space. {In particular, for each positive integer $n$, we obtain generalized Littlewood identities for $(-n)$-asymmetric partitions. We show that these generalized Littlewood identities contain several well-known Littlewood-type identities as special cases. Consequently we also give a new proof of the generalized Littlewood identity \cite[(5.25)]{LSV2008} for Lie superalgebras. } %We also produce infinite generalized Littlewood identities by calculating the inner products between these elements and some elements indexed by one-column partitions in the complete dual Fock space.

State-independent uncertainty relations on multipartite spin $1/2$-systems

Uncertainty relations quantify fundamental limits on simultaneous measurement of quantum observables. While conventional formulations are state-dependent, state-independent uncertainty relations (SIURs) impose universal bounds determined solely by the algebraic structure of the operators, with applications across metrology, quantum cryptography, and entanglement detection. Despite extensive study, exact analytical variance-based SIURs have so far been established primarily for one- and bi-partite systems, while entropic SIURs have been extended to multipartite and memory-assisted settings through information-theoretic constructions. In contrast, exact variance-based SIURs beyond the bipartite level have remained analytically unresolved.} Here we develop a representation-theoretic framework for multipartite SIURs in collective spin-$\tfrac{1}{2}$ systems. Using the Clebsch--Gordan decomposition and extremal analysis of total spin variance, we derive exact state-independent bounds up to quintipartite systems. A clear structural dichotomy emerges: odd $n$ systems exhibit strictly positive universal bounds (e.g., $Δ^2(\mathfrak{su}_2)\!\ge\!4/11$ for $n=3$), whereas even $n$ admit vanishing variance on trivial sectors but retain positive reduced-space bounds (e.g., $Δ^2(\mathfrak{su}_2)\!\ge\!1/8$ for $n=4$). These results establish the first unified, algebraic framework for multipartite variance-based SIURs in qubit ensembles.

Cayley's First Hyperdeterminant is an Entanglement Measure

Previously, it was shown that both the concurrence and $n$-tangle on $2n$-qubit pure quantum states can be expressed in terms of Cayley's first hyperdeterminant \cite{dobes2024qubits}, indicating that Cayley's first hyperdeterminant, denoted $\mathrm{hdet}$, captures some aspects of a state's $2n$-way entanglement. In this paper, we rigorously prove that on both pure and mixed states, $|\mathrm{hdet}|^{2/d}$ is identically zero on separable states, is an LU invariant, and is non-increasing on average under LOCC, thus demonstrating that $|\mathrm{hdet}|^{d/2}$ is a physically meaningful and legitimate entanglement measure. Moreover, we discuss a few key examples to illustrate the particular type of entanglement Cayley's first hyperdeterminant is detecting: genuine full $d$-level GHZ-type entanglement across all $2n$ parties. Combined, this establishes Cayley's first hyperdeterminant (or $|\mathrm{hdet}|^{2/d}$ to be precise), as a physically significant generalization of the $G$-concurrence and the $n$-tangle to $2n$-qudit states.

Dual Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for Hecke algebras in Type $A$

Let $χ^λ_μ$ be the value of the irreducible character $χ^λ$ of the Hecke algebra of the symmetric group on the conjugacy class of type $μ$. The usual Murnaghan-Nakayama rule provides an iterative algorithm based on reduction of the lower partition $μ$. In this paper, we establish a dual Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for Hecke algebras of type $A$ using vertex operators by applying reduction to the upper partition $λ$. We formulate an explicit recursion of the dual Murnaghan-Nakayama rule by employing the combinatorial model of ``brick tabloids", which refines a previous result by two of us (J. Algebra 598 (2022), 24--47).

Quantum Super Littlewood Correspondences

In this paper, we study the Littlewood theory associated with the quantum super immanants and supersymmetric polynomials, including both the super case and the quantum generalization. In the setting of quantum super Schur-Weyl duality between the quantum superalgebra $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$ and the Iwahori-Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_r$ of type A, we explicitly construct basis vectors of the $(U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n}), \mathcal{H}_r)$-bimodule on the tensor product space $(\mathbb{C}^{m|n})^{\otimes r}$. Using this construction, we interpret the quantum super immanants via weight spaces of covariant tensor representations of $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$.

Super-immanants and Littlewood correspondences

In this paper, we introduce the notion of super-immanants for supermatrices over a supercommutative algebra. Using the super Schur-Weyl duality we show that the super immanants play a significant role in covariant tensor representations of the general linear Lie superalgebra. Among various things, we obtain a supertrace formula for super-immanants, which generalizes Kostant's trace formula to the super setting. Furthermore, we show that the Littlewood correspondences between super-immanants and supersymmetric polynomials establish an isomorphism between their corresponding algebras.

Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for the cyclotomic Hecke algebra and applications

We establish a Murnaghan--Nakayama rule for the irreducible characters of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra $\mathscr H_{m,n}(q,u)$ on Shoji's standard elements. Combined with Shoji's determinacy result, our formula provides a direct combinatorial route to the full irreducible character table of $\mathscr H_{m,n}(q,u)$. Our construction is based on our recent multi-parameter Murnaghan--Nakayama rule for Macdonald polynomials and specializes uniformly to several previously known formulas, including those for the complex reflection group of type $G(m,1,n)$ and the Iwahori--Hecke algebras of types $A$ and $B$. In a dual framework, using the vertex operator realization of Schur functions, we also derive a complementary iterative formula for irreducible characters on upper multipartitions, which may be viewed as a dual Murnaghan--Nakayama rule. As applications, we obtain a Regev-type formula and a Lübeck--Prasad--Adin--Roichman-type formula for cyclotomic Hecke algebras, extending the corresponding formulas for the Iwahori--Hecke algebra of type $A$ and the complex reflection group, respectively. We further introduce the notion of multiple bitrace for cyclotomic Hecke algebras and give a general combinatorial formula for the multiple bitrace. As a specialization, this yields the second orthogonality relation for irreducible characters of the complex reflection group $W_{m,n}$. For practical computation, we also include in an appendix a SageMath implementation of our Murnaghan--Nakayama rule, which computes individual character values and the full character table.

Complexity Bounds for Hamiltonian Simulation in Unitary Representations

For any unitary representation $ρ$ on a finite-dimensional Hilbert space \(V\) with differential \(dρ: \mathfrak{g} \to \mathfrak{u}(V)\) for the Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$, we consider the Hamiltonian evolution \[ U_X(t) \coloneqq ρ(\exp(tX)) = e^{t\,dρ(X)}, \qquad t\in\mathbb{R}. \] For any complexification $ X_\mathbb{C} = X_0 + \sum\limits_{α\inΔ} x_αE_α$ associated with the root system $Δ$, we introduce the numerical invariants %\emph{root activity} and \emph{root curvature} functionals \begin{align*} \mathcal{A}_p(X) &\coloneqq \Bigl(\sum_{α\inΔ} |x_α|^p \,\|dρ(E_α)\|_{\mathrm{op}}^p\Bigr)^{1/p}, \quad 1\le p<\infty\\ \mathcal{C}(X) &\coloneqq \Bigl(\sum_{α\inΔ} |α(X_0)|^2\,|x_α|^2 \,\|dρ(E_α)\|_{\mathrm{op}}^2\Bigr)^{1/2}, \end{align*} where \(\|\cdot\|_{\mathrm{op}}\) is the operator norm on \(\mathrm{End}(V)\). We first describe how the Hamiltonian \(dρ(X)\) is distributed along the directions of root spaces $\mathfrak{g}_α$. Our main result shows that for each fixed \(X\in\mathfrak{g}\) there exists a constant \(C_X>0\) such that \[ \bigl\| e^{t(dρ(X_0)+dρ(X_{\mathrm{root}}))} - e^{\frac{t}{2}dρ(X_0)} e^{t dρ(X_{\mathrm{root}})} e^{\frac{t}{2}dρ(X_0)} \bigr\|_{\mathrm{op}} \le C_X\,t^{3}\,\bigl(\mathcal{C}(X)+\mathcal{A}_1(X_{\mathrm{root}})\bigr) \] for all sufficiently small \(|t|\). We also introduce a root-gate circuit model and test this on spin$-$chain Hamiltonians on \((\mathbb{C}^2)^{\otimes n}\subset\mathfrak{su}(2^n)\), where root spaces are spanned by matrix units, \(\mathcal{A}_p\), and \(\mathcal{C}\), which gives sharper complexity bounds and dimension$-$free representation$-$theoretic invariants.

A note on entanglement detection via the generalized realignment moments

The experimental detection of quantum entanglement is of great importance in quantum information processing. We present two separability criteria based on the generalized realignment moments. By incorporating additional parameters, these criteria prove to be more flexible and stronger than some of existing ones. Detailed examples are given to demonstrate their availability and feasibility for entanglement detection.

Vertex operators, infinite wedge representations, and correlation functions of the t-Schur measure

We study the $t$-Schur measure on partitions, defined by $ \mathbb{P}(λ)=Z^{-1}S_λ(x;t)s_λ(y) $, where $S_λ(x;t)$ denotes the $t$-Schur symmetric functions and $s_λ(y)$ the ordinary Schur functions, and $Z$ is the normalising constant. Using vertex operator calculus, we realise $S_λ(x;t)$ in the charged free-fermion Fock space, yielding a $t$-deformation of the classical boson-fermion correspondence. These realisations give vertex-algebraic proofs of the $t$-Cauchy identities and $t$-Gessel identity. Building on this framework, we compute the correlation functions of the $t$-Schur measure and show that the associated point process is determinantal, with an explicit correlation kernel. The Poissonised $t$-Plancherel measure appears as a specialisation of our construction, so its correlation functions follow as a corollary. As an application, we derive the limiting distribution for the length of the longest ascent pair in a random permutation. Our results interpolate the Schur case at $t=0$, connect to the Schur-$Q$ theory at $t=-1$, and provide a probabilistic interpretation of a natural $t$-refinement of increasing subsequences via a generalised RSK correspondence.

Associating modules for the $h$-Yangian and quantum elliptic algebra in type $A$ with $h$-adic quantum vertex algebras

We consider the Etingof-Kazhdan quantum vertex algebra $\mathcal{V}^c(R)$ associated with the trigonometric and elliptic $R$-matrix of type $A.$ We establish a connection between (restricted) modules for the $h$-Yangian $\textrm{Y}_h(\mathfrak{gl}_N)$ and the elliptic quantum algebra $\mathcal{A}_{h,p}(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_2)$ of level zero, and deformed (twisted) $ϕ$-coordinated $\mathcal{V}^c(R)$-modules. As its application, in the trigonometric case, we construct new families of central elements of $\mathcal{V}^c(R)$ at the critical level $c=-N,$ which we then use to derive commutative families in the $h$-Yangian $\textrm{Y}_h(\mathfrak{gl}_N).$

In this paper, we study a class of non-weight modules over the generalized Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra of rank two $\widetilde{L}(p_1, p_2)$. We construct a family of irreducible $\widetilde{L}(p_1, p_2)$-modules, determine the isomorphism classes and show that these modules exhaust all the $\widetilde{L}(p_1, p_2)$-modules that are free modules of rank one over the Cartan subalgebra.

On a Pieri-like rule for the Petrie symmetric functions

A $k$-ribbon tiling is a decomposition of a connected skew diagram into disjoint ribbons of size $k$. In this paper, we establish a connection between a subset of $k$-ribbon tilings and Petrie symmetric functions, thus providing a combinatorial interpretation for the coefficients in a Pieri-like rule for the Petrie symmetric functions due to Grinberg (Algebr. Comb. 5 (2022), no. 5, 947-1013). This also extends a result by Cheng, Chou and Eu et al. (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 151 (2023), no. 5, 1839-1854). As a bonus, our findings can be effectively utilized to derive certain specializations.
