Improved cosmological constraints on the curvature and equation of state of dark energy

We apply the Constitution compilation of 397 supernova Ia, the baryon acoustic oscillation measurements including the $A$ parameter, the distance ratio and the radial data, the five-year Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe and the Hubble parameter data to study the geometry of the universe and the property of dark energy by using the popular Chevallier-Polarski-Linder and Jassal-Bagla-Padmanabhan parameterizations. We compare the simple $χ^2$ method of joined contour estimation and the Monte Carlo Markov chain method, and find that it is necessary to make the marginalized analysis on the error estimation. The probabilities of $Ω_k$ and $w_a$ in the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder model are skew distributions, and the marginalized $1σ$ errors are $Ω_m=0.279^{+0.015}_{-0.008}$, $Ω_k=0.005^{+0.006}_{-0.011}$, $w_0=-1.05^{+0.23}_{-0.06}$, and $w_a=0.5^{+0.3}_{-1.5}$. For the Jassal-Bagla-Padmanabhan model, the marginalized $1σ$ errors are $Ω_m=0.281^{+0.015}_{-0.01}$, $Ω_k=0.000^{+0.007}_{-0.006}$, $w_0=-0.96^{+0.25}_{-0.18}$, and $w_a=-0.6^{+1.9}_{-1.6}$. The equation of state parameter $w(z)$ of dark energy is negative in the redshift range $0\le z\le 2$ at more than $3σ$ level. The flat $Λ$CDM model is consistent with the current observational data at the $1σ$ level.

1122 Hz rotation of XTE J1739-285 as a probe of quark matter in the interior of the neutron star

The recent discovery of burst oscillation at 1122Hz in the X-ray transient XTE J1739-285 supports the suggestion that it contains a submillisecond pulsar. In our estimations of the enormous dissipation effect in the transition boundary layer between quark matter core and hadron matter envelope, combing the viscosities of bulk mater in previous works, we show that XTE J1739-285 can be uniquely restricted to a quark star masquerading as a neutron star (hybrid star) that contains a pure quark matter or mixed quark-hadron matter core from minimizing gravitational wave radiation (r-mode) instability and Keplerian motion constraints at 1122Hz level through a three-parameters image. Such constraints allow the stellar radii in the range $9{\rm km}\leq R\leq 12{\rm km}$ and the stellar masses in the range $1.2M_\odot\leq M\leq 2.0M_\odot$. It perhaps implies that submillisecond pulsars are just probes of quark matter.

Probe into the interior of compact stars

The interior of neutron stars contains nuclear matter at very high density for numerous subatomic particles compete with each other. Therefore, confirming the components and properties there is our significant task. Here we summarize the possible methods especial the way of r-mode instability to probe into the neutron star and show our some results. The KHz pulsar in XTE J1739-285 may give a significant implication

Interior matter estimates of the X-ray pulsar in SAX J1808.4-3658 from mass-radius and rotation measurements

To constrain the equation of state of super-nuclear density matter and probe the interior composition of the X-ray pulsar in SAX J1808.4-3658. In our estimation, we consider both its persistent 2.49 ms X-ray pulsations discovered by Wijnands and van der Klis from using the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer, which is interpreted to come from an accreting-powered millisecond X-ray pulsar in the low mass X-ray binaries, and the corresponding mass-radius data analyzed of the light curves of SAX J1808.4-3685 during its 1998 and 2005 outbursts by Leahy et al. from assuming a hot spot model where the X-rays are originated from the surface of the neutron star.

Implication of Existence of Hybrid stars and Theoretical Expectation of Submillisecond Pulsars

We derive the bulk viscous damping timescale of hybrid stars, neutron stars with quark matter core. The r-mode instability windows of the stars show that the theoretical results are consistent with the rapid rotation pulsar data, which may give an indication for the existence of quark matter in the interior of neutron stars. Hybrid stars instead of neutron or strange stars may lead to submillisecond pulsars.

Observational constraints on quark matter in neutron stars

We estimate the constraints of observational mass and redshift on the properties of equations of state for quarks in the compact stars. We discuss two scenarios: strange stars and hybrid stars. We construct the equations of state utilizing MIT bag model taking medium effect into account for quark matter and relativistic mean field theory for hadron matter. We find that quark may exist in strange stars and the interior of neutron stars, and only these quark matters with stiff equations of state could be consistent with both constraints. The bag constant is main one parameter that affects the mass strongly for strange stars and only the intermediate coupling constant may be the best choice for compatibility with observational constraints in hybrid stars.

Bulk viscosity of Mixed nucleon-hyperon-quark Matter in Neutron stars

We calculate the coefficient of bulk viscosity by considering the non-leptonic weak interactions in the cores of hybrid stars with both hyperons and quarks. We first determine the dependence of the production rate of neutrons on the reaction rate of quarks in the non-leptonic processes, that is $Γ_{n}=K_{s}Γ_{s}+Γ_Λ+2Γ_{Σ^{-}}$. The conversion rate, $K_{s}$ in our scenario is a complicated function of baryon number density. We also consider medium effect of quark matter on bulk viscosity. Using these results, we estimate the limiting rotation of the hybrid stars, which may suppress the r-mode instability more effectively. Hybrid stars should be the candidates for the extremely rapid rotators .

Deconfinement Phase Transition Heating and Thermal Evolution of Neutron Stars

The deconfinement phase transition will lead to the release of latent heat during spins down of neutron stars if the transition is the first-order one.We have investigated the thermal evolution of neutron stars undergoing such deconfinement phase transition. The results show that neutron stars may be heated to higher temperature. This feature could be particularly interesting for high temperature of low-magnetic field millisecond pulsar at late stage.
