Dynamical systems analysis of tachyon dark energy model from a new perspective

In this work we present a new scheme to study the tachyon dark energy model using dynamical systems analysis by considering parametrization of the equation of state(EoS) of the dark energy. Both the canonical and phantom field dynamics are investigated. In our method we do not require any explicit form of the tachyon potential. Instead of the potential we start with an approximate form of the EoS of the tachyon field. This EoS is phenomenologically motivated and contains some dimensionless parameters. Using our method we can construct the dynamical system which gives rise to the time evolution of the universe. We have considered two different parametrizations of the EoS and studied the phase space dynamics in details. Our analysis shows Taylor series parametrization of the EoS has serious cosmological limitations. Our proposal is generic in nature and can be applied to other scalar field dark energy models.

Quintessence or Phantom: Study of scalar field dark energy models through a general parametrization of the Hubble parameter

In this work we propose a simple general parametrization scheme of the Hubble parameter for the scalar field dark energy models. In our approach it is possible to incorporate both the quintessence and phantom scalar field in a single analytical scheme and write down relevant cosmological parameters which are independent of the nature of the scalar field. A general condition for the phantom barrier crossing has also been obtained. To test this approach, a well behaved parametrization of the normalized Hubble parameter has been considered and a wide variety of observational data like CMB data, Supernovae data, BAO data etc. has been used to constraint the various cosmological parameters. It has been found that data prefer the present value of the equation of state of the dark energy to be in the phantom domain. One interesting outcome of this analysis is that although the current value of the dark energy equation of state is phantom in nature, a phantom crossing of the EOS has taken place in the recent past. We have also carried out the Bayesian model comparison between $ΛCDM$ model and the proposed model which indicates that this model is favored by data as compared to $ΛCDM$ model.

Tracker phantom field and a cosmological constant: dynamics of a composite dark energy model

In this work, we study tracker phantom dark energy models with a general parameterization of the scalar potentials. Our analysis also considers the scenario of having both phantom field and the cosmological constant as the dark energy components. A detailed statistical analysis with current cosmological observations shows an increase in the value of the Hubble parameter due to the presence of phantom dark energy but it can not alleviate the Hubble tension completely. Our results using Bayesian methods suggests a decisive evidence in favor of a phantom field over a positive cosmological constant, although the possibility of a negative cosmological constant cannot be ruled out hidden in the dark sector.

Generalized tracker quintessence models for dark energy

We study the dynamical properties of tracker quintessence models using a general parametrization of their corresponding potentials, and show that there is a general condition for the appearance of a tracker behavior at early times. Likewise, we determine the conditions under which the quintessence tracker models can also provide an accelerating expansion of the universe with an equation of state closer to $-1$. Apart from the analysis of the background dynamics, we also include linear density perturbations of the quintessence field in a consistent manner and using the same parametrization of the potential, with which we show the influence they have on some cosmological observables. The generalized tracker models are compared to observations, and we discuss their appropriateness to ameliorate the fine-tuning of initial conditions and their consistency with the accelerated expansion of the Universe at late times.

Dynamical System Analysis for Steep Potentials

In this work we have performed the dynamical system analysis for steep(er) exponential potentials considering different values of the steepness index $n$. We have performed the analysis using centre manifold theory as well as by employing numerical method. We have shown that in most of the cases, the higher values of steepness index corresponds to an unstable solution. We have shown that with this steep(er) potentials one can not have a phase transition from dark matter to dark energy in the past.

The arbitrariness of potentials in interacting quintessence models

We study the interacting quintessence model with two different types of interaction by introducing a general parameterization of the quintessence potentials. The form of the quintessence potentials is arbitrary as the recent cosmological observations failed to constrain any particular form of the potentials. We explore the interacting quintessence models and investigate if an introduction of interaction between the dark sectors can constrain any particular form of the potential. Our findings reconfirm the arbitrariness of the quintessence potentials even for the interacting dark energy models. As a result, it is shown that the current observations are able to put an upper bound to the interaction parameter for both of the interactions we consider, although it is not possible to constrain the form of the potentials.

New general parametrization of quintessence fields and its observational constraints

We present a new parameterization of quintessence potentials for dark energy based directly upon the dynamical properties of the equations of motion. Such parameterization arises naturally once the equations of motion are written as a dynamical system in terms of properly defined polar variables. We have identified two different classes of parameters, and we dubbed them as dynamical and passive parameters. The dynamical parameters appear explicitly in the equations of motion, but the passive parameters play just a secondary role in their solutions. The new approach is applied to the so-called thawing potentials and it is argued that only three dynamical parameters are sufficient to capture the evolution of the quintessence fields at late times. This work reconfirms the arbitrariness of the quintessence potentials as the recent observational data fail to constrain the dynamical parameters.

Dynamical systems analysis of phantom models

In this work, we study the dynamical systems analysis of phantom dark energy models considering a general potential. The stability analysis of the system shows that there is only one fixed point which could be the beginning of the universe but there could be many options for our future destiny. A detail numerical analysis of the system is also done using three different schemes and it shows that the late time behavior of the system is consistent with the recent observations.

Second Order Perturbative Effects on the Acoustic Geometry

In this work, we have studied the effect of higher order perturbations, particularly the second order in details, on the sonic horizon. We have considered two different schemes of perturbations which are velocity potential perturbation and mass acceleration rate perturbation. These two schemes give us qualitatively similar behaviour. We have found that the analogue gravity formalism also holds for the higher order perturbations.

Extended Phase Space Analysis of Interacting Dark Energy Models in Loop Quantum Cosmology

The present work deals with the dynamical system investigation of interacting dark energy models (quintessence and phantom) in the framework of Loop Quantum Cosmology by taking into account a broad class of self-interacting scalar field potentials. The main reason for studying potentials beyond the exponential type is to obtain additional critical points which can yield more interesting cosmological solutions. The stability of critical points and the asymptotic behavior of the phase space are analyzed using dynamical system tools and numerical techniques. We study two class of interacting dark energy models and consider two specific potentials as examples: the hyperbolic potential and the inverse power-law potential. We found a rich and interesting phenomenology including the avoidance of big rip singularities due to loop quantum effects, smooth and non-linear transitions from matter domination to dark energy domination and finite periods of phantom domination with dynamical crossing of the phantom barrier.

Generalized Brans-Dicke Theory: A Dynamical Systems Analysis

The stability criteria for the generalized Brans-Dicke cosmology in a spatially flat, homogeneous and isotropic cosmological model is discussed in the presence of a perfect fluid. The generalization comes through the channel that the Brans-Dicke coupling parameter $ω$ is allowed to be a function of the scalar field $ϕ$. This generalization can lead to a host of scalar-tensor theories of gravity for various choices of $ω= ω(ϕ)$. A very interesting general result has been found. Excepting for the case of a radiation distribution as the choice of the fluid, all other solutions find a natural habitat in the corresponding solutions in general relativity in an infinite $ω$ limit. For the radiation distribution, the dependence of stability on $ω$ is a bit obscure. If a scalar potential, function of the Brans-Dicke scalar field, is added to the action, the requirement of an infinite $ω$ for stability is relaxed for a matter distribution with a non-zero trace whereas it becomes a possibility for a radiation distribution.

Dynamical systems study of Chameleon scalar field

The present work is an extensive study of the viable stable solutions of chameleon scalar field models leading to possibilities of an accelerated expansion of the universe. It is found that for various combinations of the chameleon field potential $V(ϕ)$ and the coupling $f(ϕ)$ of the chameleon field with matter, a stable solution for an accelerated expansion is quite possible. The investigation provides a diagnostics for the stability criteria for all sorts of combinations of $V(ϕ)$ and $f(ϕ)$.

The stability of interacting holographic dark energy model is discussed. It is found that for some class of the rate of interaction between dark matter and dark energy, the system has a natural solution where the universe had been decelerating in the begnning but finally settles down to an acelerated phase of expansion.

Quintessence Scalar Field: A Dynamical Systems Study

The present work deals with a dynamical systems study of quintessence potentials leading to the present accelerated expansion of the universe. The principal interest is to check for late time attractors which give an accelerated expansion for the universe. Two examples are worked out, namely the exponential and the power-law potentials.
