Rainbow Perfect and Near-Perfect Matchings in Complete Graphs with Edges Colored by Circular Distance

Given an edge-colored complete graph $K_n$ on $n$ vertices, a perfect (respectively, near-perfect) matching $M$ in $K_n$ with an even (respectively, odd) number of vertices is rainbow if all edges have distinct colors. In this paper, we consider an edge coloring of $K_n$ by circular distance, and we denote the resulting complete graph by $K^{\bullet}_n$. We show that when $K^{\bullet}_n$ has an even number of vertices, it contains a rainbow perfect matching if and only if $n=8k$ or $n=8k+2$, where $k$ is a nonnegative integer. In the case of an odd number of vertices, Kirkman matching is known to be a rainbow near-perfect matching in $K^{\bullet}_n$. However, real-world applications sometimes require multiple rainbow near-perfect matchings. We propose a method for using a recursive algorithm to generate multiple rainbow near-perfect matchings in $K^{\bullet}_n$.

Virtual Secure Platform: A Five-Stage Pipeline Processor over TFHE

We present Virtual Secure Platform (VSP), the first comprehensive platform that implements a multi-opcode general-purpose sequential processor over Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) for Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC). VSP protects both the data and functions on which the data are evaluated from the adversary in a secure computation offloading situation like cloud computing. We proposed a complete processor architecture with a five-stage pipeline, which improves the performance of the VSP by providing more parallelism in circuit evaluation. In addition, we also designed a custom Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) to reduce the gate count of our processor, along with an entire set of toolchains to ensure that arbitrary C programs can be compiled into our custom ISA. In order to speed up instruction evaluation over VSP, CMUX Memory based ROM and RAM constructions over FHE are also proposed. Our experiments show that both the pipelined architecture and the CMUX Memory technique are effective in improving the performance of the proposed processor. We provide an open-source implementation of VSP which achieves a per-instruction latency of less than 1 second. We demonstrate that compared to the best existing processor over FHE, our implementation runs nearly 1,600$\times$ faster.

Feedback game on $3$-chromatic Eulerian triangulations of surfaces

In this paper, we study the feedback game on $3$-chromatic Eulerian triangulations of surfaces. We prove that the winner of the game on every $3$-chromatic Eulerian triangulation of a surface all of whose vertices have degree $0$ modulo $4$ is always fixed. Moreover, we also study the case of $3$-chromatic Eulerian triangulations of surfaces which have at least two vertices whose degrees are $2$ modulo $4$, and in particular, we determine the winner of the game on a concrete class of such graphs, called an octahedral path.

Feedback game on Eulerian graphs

In this paper, we introduce a two-player impartial game on graphs, called a {\em feedback game}, which is a variant of the generalized geography. We study the feedback game on Eulerian graphs. In particular, we show that the PSPACE-completeness of the game and determine the winner of the game on several classes of Eulerian graphs.

On uniquely 3-colorable plane graphs without prescribed adjacent faces

A graph $G$ is \emph{uniquely k-colorable} if the chromatic number of $G$ is $k$ and $G$ has only one $k$-coloring up to permutation of the colors. For a plane graph $G$, two faces $f_1$ and $f_2$ of $G$ are \emph{adjacent $(i,j)$-faces} if $d(f_1)=i$, $d(f_2)=j$ and $f_1$ and $f_2$ have a common edge, where $d(f)$ is the degree of a face $f$. In this paper, we prove that every uniquely 3-colorable plane graph has adjacent $(3,k)$-faces, where $k\leq 5$. The bound 5 for $k$ is best possible. Furthermore, we prove that there exist a class of uniquely 3-colorable plane graphs having neither adjacent $(3,i)$-faces nor adjacent $(3,j)$-faces, where $i,j\in \{3,4,5\}$ and $i \neq j$. One of our constructions implies that there exist an infinite family of edge-critical uniquely 3-colorable plane graphs with $n$ vertices and $\frac{7}{3}n-\frac{14}{3}$ edges, where $n(\geq 11)$ is odd and $n\equiv 2\pmod{3}$.

Continuous Creation of a Vortex in a Bose-Einstein Condensate with Hyperfine Spin F=2

It is shown that a vortex can be continuously created in a Bose-Einstein condensate with hyperfine spin F=2 in a Ioffe-Pritchard trap by reversing the axial magnetic field adiabatically. It may be speculated that the condensate cannot be confined in the trap since the weak-field seeking state makes transitions to the neutral and the strong-field seeking states due to the degeneracy of these states along the vortex axis when the axial field vanishes. We have solved the Gross-Pitaevskii equation numerically with given external magnetic fields to show that this is not the case. It is shown that a considerable fraction of the condensate remains in the trap even when the axial field is reversed rather slowly. This scenario is also analysed in the presence of an optical plug along the vortex axis. Then the condensate remains within the $F_z=2$ manifold, with respect to the local magnetic field, throughout the formation of a vortex and hence the loss of atoms does not take place.
