On the indices of minimal orbits of Hermann actions

We give a formula to calculate the indices of special (non-totally geodesic) minimal orbits of Hermann actions. Also, we give examples of such minimal orbits of Hermann actions and calculate their indices by using the formula.

On proper complex equifocal submanifolds

First we show that a curvature-adapted proper complex equifocal submanifold is a principal orbit of a Hermann type action under certain condition. Next we show that a proper complex equifocal submanifold is curvature-adapted under certain condition.

Collapse of the mean curvature flow for equifocal submanifolds

In this paper, we investigate the mean curvature flows for an equifocal submanifold in a symmetric space of compact type and its focal submanifolds as initial data. It is known that equifocal submanifolds of codimension greater than one in irreducible symmetric spaces of compact type occur as principal orbits of Hermann actions. However, we investigate the flows conceptionally without use of this fact. Concretely the investigation is performed by investigating the mean curvature flows having the lifts of the submanifolds to an (infinite deiminsional separable) Hilbert space through a Riemannian submersion as initial data.

A splitting theorem for equifocal submanifolds with non-flat section

In this paper, I prove a splitting theorem for equifocal submanifolds with non-flat section in a simply connected symmetric space of compact type. Also, by using the splitting theorem, I prove that the sections of equifocal submanifolds with non-flat section in an irreducible simply connected symmetric space of compact type are isometric to a sphere or a real projective space.

The mean curvature flow for equifocal submanifolds

In this paper, we investigate the mean curvature flow having equifocal submanifolds as initial data. The investigation are performed by investigating the mean curvature flow having the lifted submanifolds to a Hilbert space through a Riemannian submersion as initial data.

Hermann type actions on a pseudo-Riemannian symmetric space

We first investigate the geometry of orbits of the isotropy action on a semi-simple pseudo-Riemannian symmetric space by investigating the complexified action. Next we investigate the geometry of the orbits of Hermann type actions on the symmetric spaces. By considering two special Hermann type actions on the symmetric space, we recognize an interesting structure of the symmetric space.

On curvature-adapted and proper complex equifocal submaniflds

In this paper, we investigate a curvature-adapted and proper complex equifocal submanifold in a symmetric space of non-compact type. The class of these submanifolds contains principal orbits of Hermann type actions as homogeneous examples. In future, the results in this paper will be used to give a submanifold geometrical characterization of principal orbits of Hermann type actions.

Examples of a complex hyperpolar actions without singular orbit

The notion of a complex hyperpolar action on a symmetric space of non-compact type has recently been introduced as counterpart of a hyperpolar action on a symmetric space of compact type. In this paper, we construct examples of a complex hyperpolar action without singular orbit and investigate the geometry of the orbits of the examples.
