We apply Davies' method for obtaining pointwise lower bounds on the heat kernels of higher-order differential operators to obtain pointwise lower bounds in the presence of a polynomialy bounded potential.
We obtain Gaussian upper bounds for heat kernels of higher order differential operators with Dirichlet boundary conditions on bounded domains in $\R^N$. The bounds exhibit explicitly the nature of the spatial decay of the heat kernel close to the boundary as well as the long-time exponential decay implied by the spectral gap. We build on the work by Davies, extending the Helffer-Sjöstrand Functional Calculus domain for semi-bounded operators on Banach spaces given a priori controlled growth of the resolvents. We employ Seeley's Extension Theorem to extend smooth functions on the half line to the whole line and thus indirectly define functions of these operators.
