Constructive solution of the inverse spectral problem for the matrix Sturm-Liouville operator

An inverse spectral problem is studied for the matrix Sturm-Liouville operator on a finite interval with the general self-adjoint boundary condition. We obtain a constructive solution based on the method of spectral mappings for the considered inverse problem. The nonlinear inverse problem is reduced to a linear equation in a special Banach space of infinite matrix sequences. In addition, we apply our results to the Sturm-Liouville operator on a star-shaped graph.

Inverse Sturm-Liouville problem with analytical functions in the boundary condition

The inverse spectral problem is studied for the Sturm-Liouville operator with a complex-valued potential and arbitrary entire functions in one of the boundary conditions. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for uniqueness, and develop a constructive algorithm for the inverse problem solution. The main results are applied to the Hochstadt-Lieberman half-inverse problem. As an auxiliary proposition, we prove local solvability and stability for the inverse Sturm-Liouville problem by the Cauchy data in the non-self-adjoint case.

Reconstruction and Solvability for Discontinuous Hochstadt-Lieberman Problems

We consider Sturm-Liouville problems with a discontinuity in an interior point, which are motivated by the inverse problems for the torsional modes of the Earth. We assume that the potential on the right half-interval and the coefficient in the right boundary condition are given. Half-inverse problems are studied, that consist in recovering the potential on the left half-interval and the left boundary condition from the eigenvalues. If the discontinuity belongs to the left half-interval, the position and the parameters of the discontinuity also can be reconstructed. In this paper, we provide reconstructing algorithms and prove existence of solutions for the considered inverse problems. Our approach is based on interpolation of entire functions.

On recovering Sturm-Liouville differential operators with deviating argument

We consider second-order functional differential operators with a constant delay. Properties of their spectral characteristics are obtained and a nonlinear inverse problem is studied, which consists in recovering the operators from their spectra. We establish the uniqueness and develop a constructive algorithm for solution of the inverse problem.

A partial inverse problem for the Sturm-Liouville operator on a star-shaped graph

The Sturm-Liouville operator on a star-shaped graph is considered. We assume that the potential is known a priori on all the edges except one, and study the partial inverse problem, which consists in recovering the potential on the remaining edge from the part of the spectrum. A constructive method is developed for the solution of this problem, based on the Riesz-basicity of some sequence of vector functions. The local solvability of the inverse problem and the stability of its solution are proved.

Partial inverse problems for Sturm-Liouville operators on trees

In this paper, inverse spectral problems for Sturm-Liouville operators on a tree (a graph without cycles) are studied. We show that if the potential on an edge is known a priori, then b - 1 spectral sets uniquely determine the potential functions on a tree with b external edges. Constructive solutions, based on the method of spectral mappings, are provided for the considered inverse problems.

Matrix Sturm-Liouville equation with a Bessel-type singularity on a finite interval

The matrix Sturm-Liouville equation on a finite interval with a Bessel-type singularity in the end of the interval is studied. Special fundamental systems of solutions for this equation are constructed: analytic Bessel-type solutions with the prescribed behavior at the singular point and Birkhoff-type solutions with the known asymptotics for large values of the spectral parameter. The asymptotic formulas for Stokes multipliers, connecting these two fundamental systems of solutions, are derived. We also set boundary conditions and obtain asymptotic formulas for the spectral data (the eigenvalues and the weight matrices) of the boundary value problem. Our results will be useful in the theory of direct and inverse spectral problems.

Recovery of the matrix quadratic differential pencil from the spectral data

We consider a pencil of matrix Sturm-Liouville operators on a finite interval. We study properties of its spectral characteristics and inverse problems that consist in recovering of the pencil by the spectral data: eigenvalues and so--called weight matrices. This inverse problem is reduced to a linear equation in a Banach space by the method of spectral mappings. Constructive algorithm for the solution of the inverse problem is provided.

An inverse spectral problem for the matrix Sturm-Liouville operator on the half-line

The matrix Sturm-Liouville operator with an integrable potential on the half-line is considered. We study the inverse spectral problem, which consists in recovering of this operator by the Weyl matrix. The main result of the paper is the necessary and sufficient conditions on the Weyl matrix of the non-self-adjoint matrix Sturm-Liouville operator. We also investigate the self-adjoint case and obtain the characterization of the spectral data as a corollary of our general result.

An inverse problem for the non-self-adjoint matrix Sturm-Liouville operator

The inverse problem of spectral analysis for the non-self-adjoint matrix Sturm-Liouville operator on a finite interval is investigated. We study properties of the spectral characteristics for the considered operator, and provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the inverse problem. Our approach is based on the constructive solution of the inverse problem by the method of spectral mappings. The characterization of the spectral data in the self-adjoint case is derived as a corollary of the main result.

An inverse problem for the matrix quadratic pencil on a finite interval

We consider a quadratic matrix boundary value problem with equations and boundary conditions dependent on a spectral parameter. We study an inverse problem that consists in recovering the differential pencil by the so-called Weyl matrix. We obtain asymptotic formulas for the solutions of the considered matrix equation. Using the ideas of the method of spectral mappings, we prove the uniqueness theorem for this inverse problem.
