MedImageInsight: An Open-Source Embedding Model for General Domain Medical Imaging

In this work, we present MedImageInsight, an open-source medical imaging embedding model. MedImageInsight is trained on medical images with associated text and labels across a diverse collection of domains, including X-Ray, CT, MRI, dermoscopy, OCT, fundus photography, ultrasound, histopathology, and mammography. Rigorous evaluations demonstrate MedImageInsight's ability to achieve state-of-the-art (SOTA) or human expert level performance across classification, image-image search, and fine-tuning tasks. Specifically, on public datasets, MedImageInsight achieves SOTA in CT 3D medical image retrieval, as well as SOTA in disease classification and search for chest X-ray, dermatology, and OCT imaging. Furthermore, MedImageInsight achieves human expert performance in bone age estimation (on both public and partner data), as well as AUC above 0.9 in most other domains. When paired with a text decoder, MedImageInsight achieves near SOTA level single image report findings generation with less than 10\% the parameters of other models. Compared to fine-tuning GPT-4o with only MIMIC-CXR data for the same task, MedImageInsight outperforms in clinical metrics, but underperforms on lexical metrics where GPT-4o sets a new SOTA. Importantly for regulatory purposes, MedImageInsight can generate ROC curves, adjust sensitivity and specificity based on clinical need, and provide evidence-based decision support through image-image search (which can also enable retrieval augmented generation). In an independent clinical evaluation of image-image search in chest X-ray, MedImageInsight outperformed every other publicly available foundation model evaluated by large margins (over 6 points AUC), and significantly outperformed other models in terms of AI fairness (across age and gender). We hope releasing MedImageInsight will help enhance collective progress in medical imaging AI research and development.

The LHC potential of Vector-like quark doublets

The existence of new vector-like quarks is often predicted by models of new physics beyond the Standard Model, and the development of discovery strategies at colliders is the object of an intense effort from the high-energy community. Our analysis aims at identifying the constraints on and peculiar signatures of simplified scenarios containing \textit{two} vector-like quark doublets mixing with \textit{any} of the SM quark generations. This scenario is a necessary ingredient of a broad class of theoretically motivated constructions. We focus on the two charge $2/3$ states $t_{1,2}^\prime$ that, due to their peculiar mixing patterns, feature new production and decay modes that are not searched for at the LHC: single production of the heavier state can dominate over the light one, while pair production via electroweak interactions overcomes the QCD one for masses at the TeV scale.

Interplay of vector-like top partner multiplets in a realistic mixing set-up

The ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the LHC have performed analyses on the existing data sets, studying the case of one vector-like fermion or multiplet coupling to the standard model Yukawa sector. In the near future, with more data available, these experimental collaborations will start to investigate more realistic cases. The presence of more than one extra vector-like multiplet is indeed a common situation in many extensions of the standard model. The interplay of these vector-like multiplet between precision electroweak bounds, flavour and collider phenomenology is a important question in view of establishing bounds or for the discovery of physics beyond the standard model. In this work we study the phenomenological consequences of the presence of two vector-like multiplets. We analyse the constraints on such scenarios from tree-level data and oblique corrections for the case of mixing to each of the SM generations. In the present work, we limit to scenarios with two top-like partners and no mixing in the down-sector.

Heavy Vector-like Top Partners at the LHC and flavour constraints

We consider the phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider of new heavy vector-like quarks which couple mainly to the third generation quarks via Yukawa interactions, with special emphasis on non-standard doublet representations which are less constrained from present data. We also discuss in detail the flavour limits at tree level and loop level and implications of a generalised CKM mixing matrix to these cases.

h\to γγIn Inert Higgs Doublet Model

Motivated by the recent result reported from LHC on the di-photon search for a Standard Model (SM) Higgs-like boson. We discuss the implications of this possible signal in the framework of the Inert Higgs Doublet Model (IHDM), taking into account previous limits from Higgs searches at LEP, the Tevatron and the LHC as well as constraints from unitarity, vacuum stability and electroweak precision tests. We show that the charged Higgs contributions can interfere constructively or destructively with the W gauge bosons loops leading to enhancement or suppression of the di-photon rate with respect to SM rate. We show also that the invisible decay of the Higgs, if open, could affect the total width of the SM Higgs boson and therefore suppress the di-photon rate.

Leptonic signatures of doubly charged Higgs boson production at the LHC

The production of doubly charged Higgs bosons (H^{\pm\pm}) at the CERN LHC can give rise to distinctive multi-lepton signatures. The discovery potential of H^{\pm\pm} can be optimized by considering a search strategy which is sensitive to both of the dominant production mechanisms, q\bar q\to H^{++}H^{--} and q\bar {q'}\to H^{\pm\pm}H^{\mp}. We compare the discovery potential for the signatures of exactly four leptons and at least three leptons in the final state, using the same set of cuts. We have carried out fast detector simulations at the LHC for both signal and backgrounds for a wide range of values of the charged Higgs mass. We find that the use of the latter channel can substantially improve the detection prospects of the doubly charged Higgs boson at the LHC.

Analysis of the ${\bar B} \to {\bar K}_2(1430) \ell^+ \ell^-$ decay

We present an analysis of the decay process ${\bar B} \to {\bar K}_2(1430) \ell^+ \ell^-$, where this process has all the features of the related and well investigated process ${\bar B} \to {\bar K}^*(890) \ell^+ \ell^-$, with theoretically comparable branching ratios. The differential decay rate as well as the forward-backward asymmetry are worked out, where the sensitivity of these to possible right-handed couplings for the related $b \to s$ radiative decay are also investigated.

Universality test of the charged Higgs boson couplings at the LHC and at B factories

Many extensions of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics predict the existence of charged Higgs bosons with substantial couplings to SM particles, which would render them observable both directly at the LHC and indirectly at B-factories. For example, the charged Higgs boson couplings to fermions in two doublet Higgs models of type II, are proportional to the ratio of the two Higgs doublet vacuum expectation values (tan(beta)) and fermionic mass factors and could thus be substantial at large tan(beta) and/or for heavy fermions. In this work we perform a model-independent study of the charged Higgs boson couplings at the LHC and at B-factories for large values of tan(beta). We have shown that at high luminosity it is possible to measure the couplings of a charged Higgs boson to the third generation of quarks up to an accuracy of 10%. We further argue that by combining the possible measurements of the LHC and the B-factories, it is possible to perform a universality test of charged Higgs boson couplings to quarks.

Charged Lepton Flavour Violation in Littlest Higgs model with T-parity

The Little Higgs model with T-parity (LHT) belongs to the non-minimal flavour violating model. This model has new sources of flavour and CP violation both in quark and leptonic sectors. These new sources of flavour violation originates by the interaction of Standard Model (SM) fermions with heavy gauge bosons and heavy (or mirror) fermions. In this work we will present the impact of the new flavour structure of T-parity models on flavour violations in leptonic sector.

$B \to K_1(1270) (\to ρK) \ell^+ \ell^-$ in LEET

Flavour Changing Neutral Current decays of the $B$-meson are a very useful tool for studying possible physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model (SM), where of the many FCNC modes radiative, purely leptonic and semi-leptonic decays of the $B$-meson are relatively clean tests. Within this context the BELLE collaboration has searched for the $B \to K_1(1270) γ$ process and provided an upper bound on this decay. In this work we have used this upper bound in studying the angular coorelations for the related semi-leptonic decay mode $B \to K_1(1270) (\to ρK) \ell^+ \ell^-$, where we have used the form factors that have already been estimated for the $B \to K_1(1270) γ$ mode. Note that the additional form factors that are required were calculated using the Large Energy Effective Theory (LEET).

B \to K(K^*) missing energy in Unparticle physics

In the present work we study the effects of an unparticle $\unpart$ as the possible source of missing energy in the decay $B \to K (K^*) + {\rm missing energy}$. We find that the dependence of the differential branching ratio on the $K$($K^*$)-meson's energy in the presence of the vector unparticle operators is very distinctive from that of the SM. Moreover, in using the existing upper bound on $B \to K (K^*) + {\rm missing energy}$ decays, we have been able to put more stringent constraints on the parameters of unparticle stuff.

Lepton Flavour Violation in Unparticle Physics

Recently H. Georgi has introduced an unparticle $\unpart$ in order to describe the low energy physics of a nontrivial scale invariant sector of an effective theory. In this work we have explored the phenomenology of an unparticle using the lepton flavour violating decay $μ^{-}\to e^{-} e^{+} e^{-}$, and found that the branching ratio of this decay is strongly dependent on the scaling dimension.

Lepton flavour violation in The Little Higgs model

Little Higgs models with T-parity have a new source of lepton flavour violation. In this paper we consider the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon \gmtwo and the lepton flavour violating decays \mutoeg and \tautomug in Little Higgs model with T-parity \cite{Goyal:2006vq}. Our results shows that present experimental constraints of \mutoeg is much more useful to constrain the new sources of flavour violation which are present in T-parity models.

Little Higgs model effects in $γγ\to γγ$

Though the predictions of the Standard Model (SM) are in excellent agreement with experiments there are still several theoretical problems associated with the Higgs sector of the SM, where it is widely believed that some ``{\it new physics}'' will take over at the TeV scale. One beyond the SM theory which resolves these problems is the Little Higgs (LH) model. In this work we have investigated the effects of the LH model on $\gggg$ scattering \cite{Choudhury:2006xa}.

Little Higgs model effects at $γγ$ collider

Though the predictions of the Standard Model (SM) are in excellent agreement with experiments there are still several theoretical problems, such as fine-tuning and the hierarchy problem. These problems are associated with the Higgs sector of the SM, where it is widely believed that some {\it ``new physics"} will take over at the TeV scale. One beyond the SM theory which resolves these problems is the Little Higgs (LH) model. In this work we shall investigate the effects of the LH model on $\gggg$ scattering; where the process $\gggg$ at high energies occurs in the SM through diagrams involving $W$, charged quark and lepton loops (and is, therefore, particularly sensitive to any new physics

Lepton number violation in Little Higgs model

In this note we examine the constraints imposed by muon anomalous magnetic moment ($(g-2)_μ$) and $μ^- \to e^+ e^- e^-$ on lepton number violating (LNV) couplings of the triplet Higgs in Little Higgs (LH) model.

CP violation in the $B \to K \ell^+ \ell^-$ decay

Standard Model (SM) CP asymmetries in $B \to K \ell^+ \ell^-$ are expected to be very small. This feature could help in the understanding of new physics scenarios which predict the existence of CP odd phases in various Wilson coefficients. In this paper we have analyzed the $B \to K \ell^+ \ell^-$ decay in beyond the SM scenarios where the Wilson coefficients have new CP odd phases. The sensitivity of the CP asymmetries on these new weak phases is discussed.

FB asymmetries in the $B \to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ decay: A model independent approach

Among the various "rare" semi-leptonic decays of $B$-mesons the $B \to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ mode is of special interest. This is because it has the highest branching ratio among all the semi-leptonic B decays within the SM. This channel also provides us with a very large number of possible observables, such as the Forward Backward (FB) asymmetry, lepton polarization asymmetry etc. Of special interest is the zero which the FB asymmetry has in this decay mode. In this work we have studied this zero in the most general model independent framework.
