AI-Driven Green Cognitive Radio Networks for Sustainable 6G Communication

The 6G wireless aims at the Tb/s peak data rates are expected, a sub-millisecond latency, massive Internet of Things/vehicle connectivity, which requires sustainable access to audio over the air and energy-saving functionality. Cognitive Radio Networks CCNs help in alleviating the problem of spectrum scarcity, but classical sensing and allocation are still energy-consumption intensive, and sensitive to rapid spectrum variations. Our framework which centers on AI driven green CRN aims at integrating deep reinforcement learning (DRL) with transfer learning, energy harvesting (EH), reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) with other light-weight genetic refinement operations that optimally combine sensing timelines, transmit power, bandwidth distribution and RIS phase selection. Compared to two baselines, the utilization of MATLAB + NS-3 under dense loads, a traditional CRN with energy sensing under fixed policies, and a hybrid CRN with cooperative sensing under heuristic distribution of resource, there are (25-30%) fewer energy reserves used, sensing AUC greater than 0.90 and +6-13 p.p. higher PDR. The integrated framework is easily scalable to large IoT and vehicular applications, and it provides a feasible and sustainable roadmap to 6G CRNs. Mitigating Dynamic Tip-Over during Mobile Crane Slewing using Input Shaping

Payload swing during rapid slewing of mobile cranes poses a safety risk, as it generates overturning moments that can lead to tip-over accidents of mobile cranes. Currently, to limit the risk of tip-over, mobile crane operators are forced to either reduce the slewing speed (which lowers productivity) or reduce the load being carried to reduce the induced moments. Both of these approaches reduce productivity. This paper seeks to enable rapid slewing without compromising safety by applying input shaping to the crane-slewing commands generated by the operator. A key advantage of this approach is that the input shaper requires only the information about the rope length, and does not require detailed mobile crane dynamics. Simulations and experiments show that the proposed method reduces residual payload swing and enables significantly higher slewing speeds without tip over, reducing slewing completion time by at least 38% compared to unshaped control. Human control with input shaping improves task completion time by 13%, reduces the peak swing by 18%, and reduces the potential of collisions by 82% when compared to unshaped control. Moreover, shaped control with a human had no tip-over, whereas large swing led to tip-over without input shaping. Thereby, the proposed method substantially recovers the operational-safety envelope of mobile cranes (designed to avoid tip-over using static analysis) that would otherwise be lost in dynamic conditions. Explainable AI for Securing Healthcare in IoT-Integrated 6G Wireless Networks

As healthcare systems increasingly adopt advanced wireless networks and connected devices, securing medical applications has become critical. The integration of Internet of Medical Things devices, such as robotic surgical tools, intensive care systems, and wearable monitors has enhanced patient care but introduced serious security risks. Cyberattacks on these devices can lead to life threatening consequences, including surgical errors, equipment failure, and data breaches. While the ITU IMT 2030 vision highlights 6G's transformative role in healthcare through AI and cloud integration, it also raises new security concerns. This paper explores how explainable AI techniques like SHAP, LIME, and DiCE can uncover vulnerabilities, strengthen defenses, and improve trust and transparency in 6G enabled healthcare. We support our approach with experimental analysis and highlight promising results.

Learned Slip-Detection-Severity Framework using Tactile Deformation Field Feedback for Robotic Manipulation

Safely handling objects and avoiding slippage are fundamental challenges in robotic manipulation, yet traditional techniques often oversimplify the issue by treating slippage as a binary occurrence. Our research presents a framework that both identifies slip incidents and measures their severity. We introduce a set of features based on detailed vector field analysis of tactile deformation data captured by the GelSight Mini sensor. Two distinct machine learning models use these features: one focuses on slip detection, and the other evaluates the slip's severity, which is the slipping velocity of the object against the sensor surface. Our slip detection model achieves an average accuracy of 92%, and the slip severity estimation model exhibits a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.6 cm/s for unseen objects. To demonstrate the synergistic approach of this framework, we employ both the models in a tactile feedback-guided vertical sliding task. Leveraging the high accuracy of slip detection, we utilize it as the foundational and corrective model and integrate the slip severity estimation into the feedback control loop to address slips without overcompensating.

An Approach To Enhance IoT Security In 6G Networks Through Explainable AI

Wireless communication has evolved significantly, with 6G offering groundbreaking capabilities, particularly for IoT. However, the integration of IoT into 6G presents new security challenges, expanding the attack surface due to vulnerabilities introduced by advanced technologies such as open RAN, terahertz (THz) communication, IRS, massive MIMO, and AI. Emerging threats like AI exploitation, virtualization risks, and evolving attacks, including data manipulation and signal interference, further complicate security efforts. As 6G standards are set to be finalized by 2030, work continues to align security measures with technological advances. However, substantial gaps remain in frameworks designed to secure integrated IoT and 6G systems. Our research addresses these challenges by utilizing tree-based machine learning algorithms to manage complex datasets and evaluate feature importance. We apply data balancing techniques to ensure fair attack representation and use SHAP and LIME to improve model transparency. By aligning feature importance with XAI methods and cross-validating for consistency, we boost model accuracy and enhance IoT security within the 6G ecosystem.

This decade has witnessed the initiation of the digital revolution, as anticipated with the advent of 5G networks. Looking ahead to the 6G communication era, considerations are being made regarding how individuals will engage with the digital virtual world. The design of 6G technology, which will present enormous opportunities to develop and enhance human potential, will have a major impact on communications in the 2030s. We believe that in 6G we will see an unprecedented transformation that will set it apart from earlier wireless cellular network generations. Specifically, 6G will leverage ubiquitous AI services ranging from the network's core to its end devices, going beyond unpredictable limits. Despite the numerous advantages offered by 6G over existing technologies, there remains a pressing need to address security concerns. For example, the automation of critical processes in the 6G infrastructure will lead to a significantly broader and more intricate attack surface. Thus, the significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in providing security aspects within the envisioned 6G paradigm is substantial, but its integration presents a dual-edged dynamic. Therefore, to strengthen and validate the relevance of AI in securing 6G networks, this article elucidates how AI can be strategically used in 6G security, addressing potential challenges, and proposing solutions to enhance its role in securing networks.

The global rise of online users and online devices has ultimately given rise to the global internet population apart from several cybercrimes and cyberattacks. The combination of emerging new technology and powerful algorithms (of Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and Machine Learning) is needed to counter defense web security including attacks on several search engines and websites. The unprecedented increase rate of cybercrime and website attacks urged for new technology consideration to protect data and information online. There have been recent and continuous cyberattacks on websites, web domains with ongoing data breaches including - GitHub account hack, data leaks on Twitter, malware in WordPress plugins, vulnerability in Tomcat server to name just a few. We have investigated with an in-depth study apart from the detection and analysis of two major cyberattacks (although there are many more types): cross-site request forgery (XSRF) and cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. The easy identification of cyber trends and patterns with continuous improvement is possible within the edge of machine learning and AI algorithms. The use of machine learning algorithms would be extremely helpful to counter (apart from detection) the XSRF and XSS attacks. We have developed the algorithm and cyber defense framework - algoXSSF with machine learning algorithms embedded to combat malicious attacks (including Man-in-the-Middle attacks) on websites for detection and analysis.

Learning to Detect Slip through Tactile Estimation of the Contact Force Field and its Entropy

Detection of slip during object grasping and manipulation plays a vital role in object handling. Existing solutions primarily rely on visual information to devise a strategy for grasping. However, for robotic systems to attain a level of proficiency comparable to humans, especially in consistently handling and manipulating unfamiliar objects, integrating artificial tactile sensing is increasingly essential. We introduce a novel physics-informed, data-driven approach to detect slip continuously in real time. We employ the GelSight Mini, an optical tactile sensor, attached to custom-designed grippers to gather tactile data. Our work leverages the inhomogeneity of tactile sensor readings during slip events to develop distinctive features and formulates slip detection as a classification problem. To evaluate our approach, we test multiple data-driven models on 10 common objects under different loading conditions, textures, and materials. Our results show that the best classification algorithm achieves a high average accuracy of 95.61%. We further illustrate the practical application of our research in dynamic robotic manipulation tasks, where our real-time slip detection and prevention algorithm is implemented.

Multidimensional Fractional Wavelet Transforms and Uncertainty Principles

In this paper, we have given a new definition of continuous fractional wavelet transform in $\mathbb{R}^N$, namely the multidimensional fractional wavelet transform (MFrWT) and studied some of the basic properties along with the inner product relation and the reconstruction formula. We have also shown that the range of the proposed transform is a reproducing kernel Hilbert space and obtain the associated kernel. We have obtained the uncertainty principle like Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, logarithmic uncertainty principle and local uncertainty principle of the multidimensional fractional Fourier transform (MFrFT). Based on these uncertainty principles of the MFrFT we have obtained the corresponding uncertainty principles i.e., Heisenberg's, logarithmic and local uncertainty principles for the proposed MFrWT.
