Observational Study of Multi-wavelength Synergistic Effects in 3C 120

The energy dissipation and particle acceleration mechanisms within relativistic jets remain fundamental questions in active galactic nuclei (AGN) research. In this paper, we present a comprehensive 13-year (2012-2025) multi-wavelength study of the broad-line radio galaxy 3C 120, utilizing Fermi-LAT ($γ$-ray), ASAS-SN (optical), and high-resolution VLBA (15 GHz and 43 GHz) monitoring. Cross-correlation analyses reveal that $γ$-ray flares lead radio emission by $11.08_{-1.88}^{+4.03}$ months at 15 GHz and $8.27_{-5.55}^{+3.45}$ months at 43 GHz. This frequency-dependent temporal hierarchy positions the high-energy dissipation zone upstream of the radio core, corroborating the opacity-driven core-shift effect. By tracking the parsec-scale jet morphology during major $γ$-ray flaring epochs, we demonstrate that radio outbursts systematically coincide with compact core brightening, pronounced surges in polarized flux, abrupt electric vector position angle rotations, and the subsequent ejection of superluminal knots. Ultimately, our internal radio correlations suggest that jet dynamics are governed by a dual mechanism: long-term kinematic and flux baseline variations are geometrically modulated by a secular jet precession, while rapid, highly energetic polarimetric bursts are driven by short-lived internal shocks propagating down the jet channel.

First ALMA observations of the HD 105211 debris disc: A warm dust component close to a gigayear-old star

Most debris discs consist of a gas-poor, cold dust belt located tens to hundreds of astronomical units away from the host star. Many cold dust belts exhibit distinct structures attributed to the dynamic interaction of planetary systems. Moreover, in a few systems, additional warm components can be found closer to the central star, resembling the asteroid belt or zodiacal dust in our Solar System. In this work, we investigate the structure of the disc surrounding the nearby F2V star HD 105211, which has a warm excess and a potential asymmetry in the cold belt. We applied the CASA pipeline to obtain the ALMA 1.3 mm continuum images. Then we constructed the SED and performed MCMC simulations to fit a model to the ALMA visibility data. To characterise the disc asymmetry, we analysed the ALMA images of two individual observation blocks and compared them to the previous Herschel images. Our modelling reveals that the disc is a narrow ring (23.6+-4.6 au) with low eccentricity positioned at a distance of 133.7+-1.6 au from the central star, which differs from the broad disc (100+-20 au) starting at an inner edge of 87+-2.5 au, inferred from the Herschel images. We found that both observation blocks show excess emission at the stellar position, while OB1 shows an offset between the star and the phase centre, and OB2 shows brightness clumps. We used a two-temperature model to fit the infrared SED and used the ALMA detection to constrain the warm component to a nearly pure blackbody model. The relatively low ratio of actual radius to blackbody radius of the HD105211 debris disc indicates that this system is depleted in small grains, which could indicate that it is dynamically cold. The excess emission from the stellar position suggests that there should be a warm mm-sized dust component close to the star, for which we suggest two possible origins: in situ asteroid belt or comet delivery.

Possible Quasi-Periodic modulation in the z = 1.1 $γ$-ray blazar PKS 0426-380

We search for $γ$-ray and optical periodic modulations in a distant flat spectrum radio quasar (FSRQ) PKS 0426-380 (the redshift $z=1.1$). Using two techniques (i.e., the maximum likelihood optimization and the exposure-weighted aperture photometry), we obtain $γ$-ray light curves from \emph{Fermi}-LAT Pass 8 data covering from 2008 August to 2016 December. We then analyze the light curves with the Lomb-Scargle Periodogram (LSP) and the Weighted Wavelet Z-transform (WWZ). A $γ$-ray quasi-periodicity with a period of 3.35 $\pm$ 0.68 years is found at the significance-level of $\simeq3.6\ σ$. The optical-UV flux covering from 2005 August to 2013 April provided by ASI SCIENCE DATA CENTER is also analyzed, but no significant quasi-periodicity is found. It should be pointed out that the result of the optical-UV data could be tentative because of the incomplete of the data. Further long-term multiwavelength monitoring of this FSRQ is needed to confirm its quasi-periodicity.

Revisiting Quasi-Periodic modulation in $γ$-ray Blazar PKS 2155-304 with Fermi Pass 8 data

We examine the gamma-ray quasi-periodic variability of PKS 2155-304 with the latest publicly available \emph{Fermi}-LAT Pass 8 data which covers the years from 2008 August to 2016 October. We produce the light curves in two ways, i.e., the exposure-weighted aperture photometry and the maximum likelihood optimization. The light curves are then analyzed by using Lomb-Scargle Periodogram (LSP) and Weighted Wavelet Z-transform (WWZ); and the results reveal a significant quasi-periodicity with a period of $1.74\pm0.13$ years and a significance of $\sim$ 4.9 $σ$. The constraint of multifrequencies quasi-periodic variabilities on blazar emission model is discussed.
