Parametric Decomposition of Powers of Parameter Ideals and Sequentially Cohen-Macaulay Modules

Let $M$ be a finitely generated module of dimension $d$ over a Noetherian local ring $(R,\m)$ and $\q $ the parameter ideal generated by a system of parameters $\x = (x_1,..., x_d)$ of $M$. For each positive integer $n$, set $$Λ_{d,n}=\{α=(α_1,...,α_d)\in\Bbb{Z}^d|α_i\geqslant 1, \forall 1\leqslant i\leqslant d \text{and} \sum\limits_{i=1}^dα_i=d+n-1\}$$ and $\qa = (x_1^{α_1},...,x_d^{α_d})$. Then we prove in this note that $M$ is a sequentially Cohen-Macaulay module if and only if there exists a certain system of parameters $\x$ such that the equality $\q^nM=\pd$ holds true for all $n$. As an application of this result, we can compute the Hilbert-Samuel polynomial of a sequentially Cohen-Macaulay module with respect to certain parameter ideals

Top local cohomology and the catenaricity of the unmixed support of a finitely generated module

Let $(R,\m)$ be a Noetherian local ring and $M$ a finitely generated $R-$module with $\dim M=d.$ This paper is concerned with the following property for the top local cohomology module $H^d_\m(M)$: $$\Ann (0:_{H^d_\m(M)}\p)=\p\ \text{for all prime ideals} \p\supseteq\Ann H^d_\m(M).$$ In this paper we will show that this property is equivalent to the catenaricity of the unmixed support $\Usupp M$ of $M$ which is defined by $\Usupp M=\Supp M/U_M(0)$, where $U_M(0)$ is the largest submodule of $M$ of dimension less than $d.$ Some characterizations of this property in terms of system of parameters as well as the relation between the unmixed supports of $M$ and of the $\m$-adic completion $\hat M$ are given.

dd-sequences and partial Euler-Poincare' characteristics of Koszul complex

The aim of this paper is to introduce a new notion of sequences called dd-sequences and show that this notion may be convenient for studying the polynomial property of partial Euler-Poincare' characteristics of the Koszul complex with respect to the powers of a system of parameters. Some results about the dd-sequences, the partial Euler-Poincare' characteristics and the lengths of local cohomology modules are presented in the paper. There are also applications of dd-sequences on the structure of sequentially Cohen-Macaulay modules.

On Sequentially Cohen-Macaulay Modules

In this paper we present characterizations of sequentially Cohen-Macaulay modules in terms of systems of parameters, which are generalizations of well-known results on Cohen-Macaulay and generalized Cohen-Macaulay modules. The sequentially Cohen-Macaulayness of Stanley-Reisner rings of small embedding dimension are also examined.
