AdS$_3\times$ S$^2$ in IIB with small ${\cal N}=(4,0)$ supersymmetry

We consider warped AdS$_3\times $S$^2\times$M$_5$ backgrounds in type II supergravity preserving small ${\cal N}=(4,0)$ supersymmetry. We show that imposing ${\cal N}=(4,0)$ supersymmetry imposes between 0 and 3 a priori isometries in the internal M$_5$. In this work we focus on classes of solution where M$_5$ exhibits no a prioi isometry which imposes additional constraints. Solving these in IIA forces M$_5$ to support an SU(2)-structure, a case already studied in arXiv:1908.09851, while in IIB one arrives at two broad new classes with identity structure that we reduce to local expressions for the physical fields and PDEs.

${\cal N}=(2,2)$ AdS$_3$ from D3-branes wrapped on Riemann surfaces

We construct $\mathcal{N}=(2,2)$ supersymmetric AdS$_3$ solutions of type IIB supergravity, dual to twisted compactifications of 4d $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang--Mills on Riemann surfaces. We consider both theories with a regular topological twist, and a twist involving the isometry group of the Riemann surface. These solutions are interpreted as the near-horizon of black strings asymptoting to AdS$_5\times \text{S}^5$. As evidence for the proposed duality we compute the central charge of the gravity solutions and show that it agrees with the field theory result.

${\cal N}=(1,1)$ supersymmetric AdS$_3$ in 10 dimensions

Warped AdS$_3$ solutions in 10 dimensional supergravity that preserve ${\cal N}=(1,1)$ supersymmetry are considered. Sufficient geometric conditions for their existence, and to stop the AdS$_3$ factor experiencing an enhancement to AdS$_4$, are presented. The internal space of such solutions decomposes as a foliation of M$_6$ over an interval where M$_6$ supports either an SU(3)- or SU(2)-structure. The former case is classified in terms of torsion classes and new solutions are found

All $\mathcal{N}=(8,0)$ AdS$_3$ solutions in 10 and 11 dimensions

We classify AdS$_3$ solutions preserving $\mathcal{N}=(8,0)$ supersymmetry in ten and eleven dimensions and find the local form of each of them. These include the AdS$_3\times$S$^6$ solution of \cite{Dibitetto:2018ftj} and the embeddings of AdS$_3$ into AdS$_4\times$S$^7$, AdS$_5\times$S$^5$, AdS$_7/\mathbb{Z}_k\times$S$^4$ and its IIA reduction within AdS$_7$. More interestingly we find solutions preserving the superconformal algebras $\mathfrak{f}_4$, $\mathfrak{su}(1,1|4)$, $\mathfrak{osp}(4^*|4)$ on certain squashings of the 7-sphere. These solutions asymptote to AdS$_4\times$S$^7$ and are promising candidates for holographic duals to defects in Chern-Simons matter theories.

AdS$_3$ solutions in Massive IIA with small $\mathcal{N}=(4,0)$ supersymmetry

We study AdS$_3\times \text{S}^2$ solutions in massive IIA that preserve small ${\cal N}=(4,0)$ supersymmetry in terms of an SU(2)-structure on the remaining internal space. We find two new classes of solutions that are warped products of the form AdS$_3\times \text{S}^2\times \text{M}_4\times \mathbb{R}$. For the first, M$_4$=CY$_2$ and we find a generalisation a D4-D8 system involving possible additional branes. For the second, M$_4$ need only be Kahler, and we find a generalisation of the T-dual of solutions based on D3-branes wrapping curves in the base of an elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau 3-fold. Within these classes we find many new locally compact solutions that are foliations of AdS$_3\times \text{S}^2\times\text{CY}_2$ over an interval, bounded by various D brane and O plane behaviours. We comment on how these local solutions may be used as the building blocks of infinite classes of global solutions glued together with defect branes. Utilising T-duality we find two new classes of AdS$_3\times \text{S}^3\times \text{M}_4$ solutions in IIB. The first backreacts D5s and KK monopoles on the D1-D5 near horizon. The second is a generalisation of the solutions based on D3-branes wrapping curves in the base of an elliptically fibered CY$_3$ that includes non trivial 3-form flux.

AdS$_3$ solutions with $\mathcal{N}=(3,0)$ from S$^3\times$S$^3$ fibrations

We study warped AdS$_3$ solutions in massive IIA supergravity preserving $\mathcal{N}=(3,0)$ and $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ supersymmetry. We consider solutions whose internal spaces decompose as an S$^3\times$S$^3$ fibration and a interval over which the rest of the solution is foliated. We present necessary and sufficient conditions for these solutions to exist, in terms of systems of ordinary differential equations and find several new analytic and numerical examples with internal spaces bounded between D-brane and O-plane behaviors.

Two dimensional ${\cal N}=(0,4)$ quivers dual to AdS$_3$ solutions in massive IIA

In this paper we discuss an infinite family of new solutions in massive Type IIA supergravity with AdS$_3\times$S$^2$ factors, preserving ${\cal N}=(0,4)$ SUSY. After studying geometrical aspects of the backgrounds we propose a duality with a precise family of quivers that flow to (0,4) fixed points at low energies. These quivers consist on two families of (4,4) linear quivers coupled by matter fields. We present various tests of our proposal.

1/4 BPS AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$

We discuss new solutions in massive Type IIA supergravity with AdS$_3\times$S$^2$ factors, preserving ${\cal N}=(0,4)$ SUSY. We propose a duality with a precise family of quivers that flow to ${\cal N}=(0,4)$ fixed points at low energies. These quivers consist on two families of linear quivers coupled by matter fields. Physical observables such as the central charges provide stringent checks of the proposed duality. A formal mapping is presented connecting our backgrounds with those dual to six dimensional ${\cal N}=(1,0)$ CFTs, suggesting the existence of a flow across dimensions between the CFTs.

Aspects of AdS$_2$ classification in M-theory: Solutions with mesonic and baryonic charges

We construct necessary and sufficient geometric conditions for a class of AdS$_2$ solutions of M-theory with, at least, minimal supersymmetry to exist. We generalize previous results in the literature for ${\cal N}=(2,0)$ supersymmetry in AdS$_2$ to ${\cal N}=(1,0)$. When the solution can be locally described as AdS$_2\times Σ_g \times \,$SE$_7$ with $Σ_g$ a Riemann surface of genus $g$ and SE$_7$ a seven-dimensional Sasaki-Einstein manifold, we clarify and unify various solutions present in the literature. In the case of SE$_7=Q^{1,1,1}$ we find a new solution with baryonic and mesonic charges turned on simultaneously.

AdS$_3$ solutions in massive IIA, defect CFTs and T-duality

We establish a map between AdS$_3 \times$S$^2$ and AdS$_7$ solutions to massive IIA supergravity that allows one to interpret the former as holographic duals to D2-D4 defects inside 6d (1,0) CFTs. This relation singles out in a particular manner the AdS$_3\times$S$^2$ solution constructed from AdS$_3\times$S$^3\times $CY$_2$ through non-Abelian T-duality, with respect to a freely acting SU(2). We find explicit global completions to this solution and provide well-defined (0,4) 2d dual CFTs associated to them. These completions consist of linear quivers with colour groups coming from D2 and D6 branes and flavour groups coming from D8 and D4 branes. Finally, we discuss the relation with flows interpolating between AdS$_3\times$S$^2\times$T$^4$ geometries and AdS$_7$ solutions found in the literature.

Mink$_4\times S^2$ Solutions of 10 and 11 Dimensional Supergravity

We complete the classification of Mink$_4$ solutions preserving $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry and SU(2) R-symmetry parameterised by a round $S^2$ factor. We consider eleven-dimensional supergravity and relax the assumptions of earlier works in type II theories. We show that, using chains of dualities, all solutions of this type can be generated from one of two master classes: an SU(2)-structure in M-theory and a conformal Calabi-Yau in type IIB. Finally, using our results, we recover AdS$_5\times S^2$ solutions in M-theory and construct a compact Minkowski solution with Atiyah-Hitchin singularity.

Type II Solutions on AdS$_3\times S^3\times S^3$ with Large Superconformal Symmetry

New local solutions in type II supergravity that are foliations of AdS$_3\times S^3\times S^3$ over an interval and preserve at least large $\mathcal{N}=(4,0)$ supersymmetry are found. Some cases have compact internal space, some not and one experiences an enhancement to $\mathcal{N}=(4,4)$. We present two new globally compact solutions with D brane and O plane sources explicitly, one in each of IIA and IIB. The former is part of an infinite family of solutions with D8/O8s back reacted on AdS$_3\times S^3\times S^3\times S^1$. In the latter the the algebra degenerates to small $\mathcal{N}=(4,0)$ and the internal geometry is bounded between D5s and O5s back reacted on AdS$_3\times S^3\times \mathbb{R}^4$.

$AdS_6$ T-duals and Type IIB $AdS_6\times S^2$ Geometries with 7-Branes

We show that the first $AdS_6$ backgrounds in Type IIB supergravity known in the literature, namely those constructed via T-duality from the Brandhuber-Oz solution to massive IIA, fit within an extension of the global $AdS_6 \times S^2$ solutions with 7-branes warped over a Riemann surface $Σ$, recently classified by D'Hoker, Gutperle and Uhlemann, that describes delocalised 5-branes and 7-branes. The solution constructed through Abelian T-duality provides an explicit example of a Riemann surface with the topology of an annulus, that includes D7/O7-branes. In turn, the solution generated through non-Abelian T-duality arises from the upper half-plane.

AdS$_6$ T-duals and AdS$_6 \times S^2$ geometries in Type IIB

We summarise the recent results in 1810.08093, where the Type IIB AdS$_6$ solutions T-dual to the Brandhuber-Oz solution to massive Type IIA supergravity are shown to fit within an extension to allow for delocalized 5- and 7-branes of the global AdS$_6 \times S^2$ solutions constructed by D'Hoker, Gutperle and Uhlemann. We show that the Abelian T-dual solution provides an explicit example of a Riemann surface with the topology of an annulus.

The geometry of ${\cal N}=3$ AdS$_4$ in massive IIA

The geometry of the ${\cal N} = 3$, SO(4)--invariant, AdS$_4$ solution of massive type IIA supergravity that uplifts from the ${\cal N} = 3 $ vacuum of $D=4$ ${\cal N} = 8$ dyonic ISO(7) supergravity is investigated. Firstly, a $D=4$, SO(4)--invariant restricted duality hierarchy is constructed and used to uplift the entire, dynamical SO(4)--invariant sector to massive type IIA. The resulting consistent uplift formulae are used to obtain a new local expression for the ${\cal N} = 3 $ AdS$_4$ solution in massive IIA and analyse its geometry. Locally, the internal $S^6$ geometry corresponds to a warped fibration of $S^2$ and a hemisphere of $S^4$. This can be regarded as a warped generalisation of the usual twistor fibration geometry. Finally, the triplet of Killing spinors corresponding to the ${\cal N}=3$ solution are constructed and shown to obey the massive type IIA Killing spinor equations.

Minkowski$_4$ $\times$ $S^2$ solutions of IIB supergravity

We classify $\mathcal N = 2$ Minkowski$_4$ solutions of IIB supergravity with an $SU(2)_R$ symmetry geometrically realized by an $S^2$-foliation in the remaining six dimensions. For the various cases of the classification, we reduce the supersymmetric system of equations to PDEs. These cases often accommodate systems of intersecting branes and half-maximally supersymmetric AdS$_{5,6,7}$ solutions when they exist. As an example, we analyze the AdS$_6$ case in more detail, reducing the supersymmetry equations to a single cylindrical Laplace equation. We also recover an already known linear dilaton background dual to the $(1,1)$ Little String Theory (LST) living on NS5-branes, and we find a new Minkowski$_5$ linear dilaton solution from brane intersections. Finally, we also discuss some simple Minkowski$_4$ solutions based on compact conformal Calabi-Yau manifolds.

Mink$_3\times S^3$ solutions of type II supergravity

We initiate the classification of supersymmetric solutions of type II supergravity on $\mathbb{R}^{1,2} \times S^3 \times M_4$. We find explicit local expressions for all backgrounds with either a single Killing spinor or two of equal norm, up to PDE's. We show that the only type II AdS$_4\times S^3$ solution is the known $\mathcal{N}=4$ AdS$_4$ background obtained from the near-horizon limit of intersecting D2-D6 branes. Various known branes and intersecting brane systems are recovered, and we obtain a novel class of $\mathbb{R}^{1,2} \times S^2\times S^3$ solutions in IIA.

Minimal flux Minkowski classification

We classify Minkowski$_4$ solutions in type IIA supergravity, with N=2 supersymmetry and an SU(2) R-symmetry of a certain type. Many subcases can be reduced to relatively simple PDEs, among which we recover various intersecting brane systems, and AdS$_d$ solutions, $d=5,6,7$, and in particular the recently found general massive AdS$_7$ solutions. Imposing compactness of the internal six-manifold we obtain promising solutions with localized D-branes and O-planes.
