The $SU(3)\supset SO(3)$ missing label problem and the analytical Bethe ansatz

The missing label for basis vectors of $SU(3)$ representations corresponding to the reduction $SU(3) \supset SO(3)$ can be provided by the eigenvalues of $SO(3)$ scalars in the enveloping algebra of $su(3)$. There are only two such independent elements of degree three and four. It is shown how the one of degree four can be diagonalized using the analytical Bethe ansatz.

Nonlinear mirror image method for nonlinear Schrödinger equation: Absorption/emission of one soliton by a boundary

We perform the analysis of the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the half-line with time-dependent boundary conditions along the lines of the nonlinear method of images with the help of Bäcklund transformations. The difficulty arising from having such time-dependent boundary conditions at $x=0$ is overcome by changing the viewpoint of the method and fixing the Bäcklund transformation at infinity as well as relating its value at $x=0$ to a time-dependent reflection matrix. The interplay between the various aspects of integrable boundary conditions is reviewed in detail to brush a picture of the area. We find two possible classes of solutions. One is very similar to the case of Robin boundary conditions whereby solitons are reflected at the boundary, as a result of an effective interaction with their images on the other half-line. The new regime of solutions supports the existence of one soliton that is not reflected at the boundary but can be either absorbed or emitted by it. We demonstrate that this is a unique feature of time-dependent integrable boundary conditions.

The Terwilliger algebra of symplectic dual polar graphs, the subspace lattices and $U_q(sl_2)$

The adjacency matrix of a symplectic dual polar graph restricted to the eigenspaces of an abelian automorphism subgroup is shown to act as the adjacency matrix of a weighted subspace lattice. The connection between the latter and $U_q(sl_2)$ is used to find the irreducible components of the standard module of the Terwilliger algebra of symplectic dual polar graphs. The multiplicities of the isomorphic submodules are given.

Racah algebras, the centralizer $Z_n(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ and its Hilbert-Poincaré series

The higher rank Racah algebra $R(n)$ introduced recently is recalled. A quotient of this algebra by central elements, which we call the special Racah algebra $sR(n)$, is then introduced. Using results from classical invariant theory, this $sR(n)$ algebra is shown to be isomorphic to the centralizer $Z_{n}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ of the diagonal embedding of $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ in $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)^{\otimes n}$. This leads to a first and novel presentation of the centralizer $Z_{n}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ in terms of generators and defining relations. An explicit formula of its Hilbert-Poincaré series is also obtained and studied. The extension of the results to the study of the special Askey-Wilson algebra and its higher rank generalizations is discussed.

Entanglement of Free Fermions on Johnson Graphs

Free fermions on Johnson graphs $J(n,k)$ are considered and the entanglement entropy of sets of neighborhoods is computed. For a subsystem composed of a single neighborhood, an analytical expression is provided by the decomposition in irreducible submodules of the Terwilliger algebra of $J(n,k)$ embedded in two copies of $\mathfrak{su}(2)$. For a subsytem composed of multiple neighborhoods, the construction of a block-tridiagonal operator which commutes with the entanglement Hamiltonian is presented, its usefulness in computing the entropy is stressed and the area law pre-factor is discussed.

Entanglement of Free Fermions on Hamming Graphs

Free fermions on Hamming graphs $H(d,q)$ are considered and the entanglement entropy for two types of subsystems is computed. For subsets of vertices that form Hamming subgraphs, an analytical expression is obtained. For subsets corresponding to a neighborhood, i.e. to a set of sites at a fixed distance from a reference vertex, a decomposition in irreducible submodules of the Terwilliger algebra of $H(d,q)$ also yields a closed formula for the entanglement entropy. Finally, for subsystems made out of multiple neighborhoods, it is shown how to construct a block-tridiagonal operator which commutes with the entanglement Hamiltonian. It is identified as a BC-Gaudin magnet Hamiltonian in a magnetic field and is diagonalized by the modified algebraic Bethe ansatz.

Heun operator of Lie type and the modified algebraic Bethe ansatz

The generic Heun operator of Lie type is identified as a certain $BC$-Gaudin magnet Hamiltonian in a magnetic field. By using the modified algebraic Bethe ansatz introduced to diagonalize such Gaudin models, we obtain the spectrum of the generic Heun operator of Lie type in terms of the Bethe roots of inhomogeneous Bethe equations. We show also that these Bethe roots are intimately associated to the roots of polynomial solutions of the differential Heun equation. We illustrate the use of this approach in two contexts: the representation theory of $O(3)$ and the computation of the entanglement entropy for free Fermions on the Krawtchouk chain.

Entanglement of Free Fermions on Hadamard Graphs

Free Fermions on vertices of distance-regular graphs are considered. Bipartition are defined by taking as one part all vertices at a given distance from a reference vertex. The ground state is constructed by filling all states below a certain energy. Borrowing concepts from time and band limiting problems, algebraic Heun operators and Terwilliger algebras, it is shown how to obtain, quite generally, a block tridiagonal matrix that commutes with the entanglement Hamiltonian. The case of the Hadamard graphs is studied in details within that framework and the existence of the commuting matrix is shown to allow for an analytic diagonalization of the restricted two-point correlation matrix and hence for an explicit determination of the entanglement entropy.

New realizations of algebras of the Askey-Wilson type in terms of Lie and quantum algebras

The Askey-Wilson algebra is realized in terms of the elements of the quantum algebras $U_q(\mathfrak{su}(2))$ or $U_q(\mathfrak{su}(1,1))$. A new realization of the Racah algebra in terms of the Lie algebras $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ or $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$ is given also. Details for different specializations are provided. The advantage of these new realizations is that one generator of the Askey-Wilson (or Racah) algebra becomes diagonal in the usual representation of the quantum algebras whereas the second one is tridiagonal. This allows to recover easily the recurrence relations of the associated orthogonal polynomials of the Askey scheme. These realizations involve rational functions of the Cartan generator of the quantum algebras, they are linear with respect to the other generators and depend on the Casimir element of the quantum algebras.

Revisiting the Askey--Wilson algebra with the universal R-matrix of $U_q(sl(2))$

A description of the embedding of the universal Askey--Wilson algebra, AW(3), in $U_q(sl_2)^{\otimes 3}$ is given in terms of the universal R-matrix of $U_q(sl_2)$. The generators of the centralizer of $U_q(sl_2)$ in its three-fold product are naturally expressed through conjugations of Casimir elements with R. They are identified as the images of the generators of AW(3) under the embedding map by showing that they obey the AW(3) relations. This is achieved by introducing a natural coaction also constructed with the help of the R-matrix.

Bannai-Ito algebras and the universal R-matrix of osp(1|2)

The Bannai-Ito algebra $BI(n)$ is viewed as the centralizer of the action of $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ in the $n$-fold tensor product of the universal algebra of this Lie superalgebra. The generators of this centralizer are constructed with the help of the universal $R$-matrix of $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$. The specific structure of the $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ embeddings to which the centralizing elements are attached as Casimir elements is explained. With the generators defined, the structure relations of $BI(n)$ are derived from those of $BI(3)$ by repeated action of the coproduct and using properties of the $R$-matrix and of the generators of the symmetric group $\mathfrak S_n$.

New integrable boundary conditions for the Ablowitz-Ladik model: from Hamiltonian formalism to nonlinear mirror image method

Using Sklyanin's classical theory of integrable boundary conditions, we use the Hamiltonian approach to derive new integrable boundary conditions for the Ablowitz-Ladik model on the finite and half infinite lattice. In the case of half infinite lattice, the special and new emphasis of this paper is to connect directly the Hamiltonian approach, based on the classical $r$-matrix, with the zero curvature representation and Bäcklund transformation approach that allows one to implement a nonlinear mirror image method and construct explicit solutions. It is shown that for our boundary conditions, which generalise (discrete) Robin boundary conditions, a nontrivial extension of the known mirror image method to what we call {\it time-dependent boundary conditions} is needed. A careful discussion of this extension is given and is facilitated by introducing the notion of intrinsic and extrinsic picture for describing boundary conditions. This gives the specific link between Sklyanin's reflection matrices and Bäcklund transformations combined with folding, {\it in the case of non-diagonal reflection matrices}. All our results reproduce the known Robin boundary conditions setup as a special case: the diagonal case. Explicit formulas for constructing multisoliton solutions on the half-lattice with our time-dependent boundary conditions are given and some examples are plotted.

Centralizers of the superalgebra osp(1|2): the Brauer algebra as a quotient of the Bannai-Ito algebra

We provide an explicit isomorphism between a quotient of the Bannai--Ito algebra and the Brauer algebra. We clarify also the connection with the action of the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) on the threefold tensor product of its fundamental representation. Finally, a conjecture is proposed to describe the centralizer of osp(1|2) acting on three copies of an arbitrary finite irreducible representation in terms of a quotient of the Bannai-Ito algebra.

Temperley-Lieb, Brauer and Racah algebras and other centralizers of su(2)

In the spirit of the Schur-Weyl duality, we study the connections between the Racah algebra and the centralizers of tensor products of three (possibly different) irreducible representations of su(2). As a first step we show that the Racah algebra always surjects onto the centralizer. We then offer a conjecture regarding the description of the kernel of the map, which depends on the irreducible representations. If true, this conjecture would provide a presentation of the centralizer as a quotient of the Racah algebra. We prove this conjecture in several cases. In particular, while doing so, we explicitly obtain the Temperley-Lieb algebra, the Brauer algebra and the one-boundary Temperley-Lieb algebra as quotients of the Racah algebra.

Truncation of the reflection algebra and the Hahn algebra

In the context of connections between algebras coming from quantum integrable systems and algebras associated to the orthogonal polynomials of the Askey scheme, we prove that the truncated reflection algebra attached to the Yangian of sl(2) is isomorphic to the Hahn algebra. As a by-product, we provide a general set-up based on Euler polynomials to study truncations of reflection algebras.

Higher rank classical analogs of the Askey-Wilson algebra from the $sl_N$ Onsager algebra

The $sl_N$-Onsager algebra has been introduced by Uglov and Ivanov in 1995. In this letter, a FRT presentation of the $sl_N$-Onsager algebra is given, its current algebra and commutative subalgebra are constructed. Certain quotients of the $sl_N$-Onsager algebra are then considered, which produce `classical' analogs of higher rank extensions of the Askey-Wilson algebra. As examples, the cases $N=3$ and $N=4$ are described in details.

Classical $N$-Reflection Equation and Gaudin Models

We introduce the notion of $N$-reflection equation which provides a large generalization of the usual classical reflection equation describing integrable boundary conditions. The latter is recovered as a special example of the $N=2$ case. The basic theory is established and illustrated with several examples of solutions of the $N$-reflection equation associated to the rational and trigonometric $r$-matrices. A central result is the construction of a Poisson algebra associated to a non skew-symmetric $r$-matrix whose form is specified by a solution of the $N$-reflection equation. Generating functions of quantities in involution can be identified within this Poisson algebra. As an application, we construct new classical Gaudin-type Hamiltonians, particular cases of which are Gaudin Hamiltonians of $BC_L$-type .

FRT presentation of classical Askey-Wilson algebras

Automorphisms of the infinite dimensional Onsager algebra are introduced. Certain quotients of the Onsager algebra are formulated using a polynomial in these automorphisms. In the simplest case, the quotient coincides with the classical analog of the Askey-Wilson algebra. In the general case, generalizations of the classical Askey-Wilson algebra are obtained. The corresponding class of solutions of the non-standard classical Yang-Baxter algebra are constructed, from which a generating function of elements in the commutative subalgebra is derived. We provide also another presentation of the Onsager algebra and of the classical Askey-Wilson algebras.
