Experimental QND measurements of complementarity on two-qubit states with IonQ and IBM Q quantum computers

We report the experimental nondemolition measurement of coherence, predictability and concurrence on a system of two qubits. The quantum circuits proposed by De Melo et al. are implemented on IBM Q (superconducting circuit) and IonQ (trapped ion) quantum computers. Three criteria are used to compare the performance of the different machines on this task: measurement accuracy, nondemolition of the observable, and quantum state preparation. We find that the IonQ quantum computer provides constant state fidelity through the nondemolition process, outperforming IBM Q systems on which the fidelity consequently drops after the measurement. Our study compares the current performance of these two technologies at different stages of the nondemolition measurement of bipartite complementarity.

Bell Diagonal and Werner state generation: entanglement, non-locality, steering and discord on the IBM quantum computer

We propose the first correct special-purpose quantum circuits for preparation of Bell-diagonal states (BDS), and implement them on the IBM Quantum computer, characterizing and testing complex aspects of their quantum correlations in the full parameter space. Among the circuits proposed, one involves only two quantum bits but requires adapted quantum tomography routines handling classical bits in parallel. The entire class of Bell-diagonal states is generated, and a number of characteristic indicators, namely entanglement of formation, CHSH non-locality, steering and discord, are experimentally evaluated over the full parameter space and compared with theory. As a by-product of this work we also find a remarkable general inequality between "quantum discord" and "asymmetric relative entropy of discord": the former never exceeds the latter. We also prove that for all BDS the two coincide.

Evidence of the entanglement constraint on wave-particle duality using the IBM Q quantum computer

We experimentally verify the link existing between entanglement and the amount of wave-particle duality in a bipartite quantum system, with superconducting qubits in the IBM Q quantum computer. We consider both pure and mixed states, and study the influence of state purity on the observation of the complementarity "triality" relation of Jakob and Bergou. This work confirms the quantitative completion of local Bohr's complementarity principle by the nonlocal quantum entanglement typical of a truly bipartite quantum system.
