Differential operators on almost-Hermitian manifolds and harmonic forms

We consider several differential operators on compact almost-complex, almost-Hermitian and almost-Kähler manifolds. We discuss Hodge Theory for these operators and a possible cohomological interpretation. We compare the associated spaces of harmonic forms and cohomologies with the classical de Rham, Dolbeault, Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies.

Variational problems in conformal geometry

We study the Euler-Lagrange equation for several natural functionals defined on a conformal class of almost Hermitian metrics, whose expression involves the Lee form $θ$ of the metric. We show that the Gauduchon metrics are the unique extremal metrics of the functional corresponding to the norm of the codifferential of the Lee form. We prove that on compact complex surfaces, in every conformal class there exists a unique metric, up to multiplication by a constant, which is extremal for the functional given by the $L^2$-norm of $dJθ$, where $J$ denotes the complex structure. These extremal metrics are not the Gauduchon metrics in general, hence we extend their definition to any dimension and show that they give unique representatives, up to constant multiples, of any conformal class of almost Hermitian metrics.

Relative Čech-Dolbeault homology and applications

We define the relative Dolbeault homology of a complex manifold with currents via a Čech approach and we prove its equivalence with the relative Čech-Dolbeault cohomology as defined in [T. Suwa, Čech-Dolbeault cohomology and the $\overline\partial$-Thom class, {\em Singularities---Niigata---Toyama 2007}, 321--340, Adv. Stud. Pure Math., \textbf{56}, Math. Soc. Japan, Tokyo, 2009. ]. This definition is then used to compare the relative Dolbeault cohomology groups of two complex manifolds of the same dimension related by a suitable proper surjective holomorphic map. Finally, an application to blow-ups is considered.

Symplectic cohomologies and deformations

In this note we study the behavior of symplectic cohomology groups under symplectic deformations. Moreover, we show that for compact almost-Kähler manifolds $(X,J,g,ω)$ with $J$ $\mathcal{C}^\infty$-pure and full the space of de Rham harmonic forms is contained in the space of symplectic-Bott-Chern harmonic forms. Furthermore, we prove that the second non-HLC degree measures the gap between the de Rham and the symplectic-Bott-Chern harmonic forms.

Cohomologies of locally conformally symplectic manifolds and solvmanifolds

We study the Morse-Novikov cohomology and its almost-symplectic counterpart on manifolds admitting locally conformally symplectic structures. More precisely, we introduce lcs cohomologies and we study elliptic Hodge theory, dualities, Hard Lefschetz Condition. We consider solvmanifolds and Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds. In particular, we prove that Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds with precisely one complex place, and under an additional arithmetic condition, satisfy the Mostow property. This holds in particular for the Inoue surface of type $S^0$.

Cohomological aspects on complex and symplectic manifolds

We discuss how quantitative cohomological informations could provide qualitative properties on complex and symplectic manifolds. In particular we focus on the Bott-Chern and the Aeppli cohomology groups in both cases, since they represent useful tools in studying non Kähler geometry. We give an overview on the comparisons among the dimensions of the cohomology groups that can be defined and we show how we reach the $\partial\overline\partial$-lemma in complex geometry and the Hard-Lefschetz condition in symplectic geometry. For more details we refer to [6] and [29].

Quantitative and qualitative cohomological properties for non-Kähler manifolds

We introduce a "qualitative property" for Bott-Chern cohomology of complex non-Kähler manifolds, which is motivated in view of the study of the algebraic structure of Bott-Chern cohomology. We prove that such a property characterizes the validity of the $\partial\overline\partial$-Lemma. This follows from a quantitative study of Bott-Chern cohomology. In this context, we also prove a new bound on the dimension of the Bott-Chern cohomology in terms of the Hodge numbers. We also give a generalization of this upper bound, with applications to symplectic cohomologies.

On the cohomology of almost complex and symplectic manifolds and proper surjective maps

Let $(X,J)$ be an almost-complex manifold. In \cite{li-zhang} Li and Zhang introduce $H^{(p,q),(q,p)}_J(X)_{\rr}$ as the cohomology subgroups of the $(p+q)$-th de Rham cohomology group formed by classes represented by real pure-type forms. Given a proper, surjective, pseudo-holomorphic map between two almost-complex manifolds we study the relationship among such cohomology groups. Similar results are proven in the symplectic setting for the cohomology groups introduced in \cite{tsengyauI} by Tseng and Yau and a new characterization of the Hard Lefschetz condition in dimension $4$ is provided.

On geometric Bott-Chern formality and deformations

A notion of geometric formality in the context of Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies on a complex manifold is discussed. In particular, by using Aeppli-Bott-Chern-Massey triple products, it is proved that geometric Aeppli-Bott-Chern formality is not stable under small deformations of the complex structure.
