Holomorphic semigroups and Sarason's characterization of vanishing mean oscillation

It is a classical theorem of Sarason that an analytic function of bounded mean oscillation ($BMOA$), is of vanishing mean oscillation if and only if its rotations converge in norm to the original function as the angle of the rotation tends to zero. In a series of two papers Blasco et al. have raised the problem of characterizing all semigroups of holomorphic functions $(φ_t)$ that can replace the semigroup of rotations in Sarason's Theorem. We give a complete answer to this question, in terms of a logarithmic vanishing oscillation condition on the infinitesimal generator of the semigroup $(φ_t)$. In addition we confirm the conjecture of Blasco et al. that all such semigroups are elliptic. We also investigate the analogous question for the Bloch and the little Bloch space and surprisingly enough we find that the semigroups for which the Bloch version of Sarason's Theorem holds are exactly the same as in the $BMOA$ case.

Riesz capacities of a set due to Dobiński

We study the Riesz $(a,p)$-capacity of the so called Dobiński set. We characterize the values of the parameters $a$ and $p$ for which the $(a,p)$-Riesz capacity of the Dobiński set is positive. In particular we show that the Dobiński set has positive logarithmic capacity, thus answering a question of Dayan, Fernandéz and González. We approach the problem by considering the dyadic analogues of the Riesz $(a,p)$-capacities which seem to be better adapted to the problem.

The Drury--Arveson space on the Siegel upper half-space and a von Neumann type inequality

In this work we study what we call Siegel--dissipative vector of commuting operators $(A_1,\ldots, A_{d+1})$ on a Hilbert space $\mathcal H$ and we obtain a von Neumann type inequality which involves the Drury--Arveson space $DA$ on the Siegel upper half-space $\mathcal U$. The operator $A_{d+1}$ is allowed to be unbounded and it is the infinitesimal generator of a contraction semigroup $\{e^{-iτA_{d+1}}\}_{τ<0}$. We then study the operator $e^{-iτA_{d+1}}A^α$ where $A^α=A_1^{α_1}\cdots A^{α_d}_d$ for $α\in\mathbb N^d_0$ and prove that can be studied by means of model operators on a weighted $L^2$ space. To prove our results we obtain a Paley--Wiener type theorem for $DA$ and we investigate some multiplier operators on $DA$ as well.

Quasi-nilpotency of generalized Volterra operators on sequence spaces

We study the quasi-nilpotency of generalized Volterra operators on spaces of power series with Taylor coefficients in weighted $\ell^p$ spaces $1<p<+\infty$ . Our main result is that when an analytic symbol $g$ is a multiplier for a weighted $\ell^p$ space, then the corresponding generalized Volterra operator $T_g$ is bounded on the same space and quasi-nilpotent, i.e. its spectrum is $\{0\}.$ This improves a previous result of A. Limani and B. Malman in the case of sequence spaces. Also combined with known results about multipliers of $\ell^p$ spaces we give non trivial examples of bounded quasi-nilpotent generalized Volterra operators on $\ell^p$. We approach the problem by introducing what we call Schur multipliers for lower triangular matrices and we construct a family of Schur multipliers for lower triangular matrices on $\ell^p, 1<p<\infty$ related to summability kernels. To demonstrate the power of our results we also find a new class of Schur multipliers for Hankel operators on $\ell^2 $, extending a result of E. Ricard.

Onto Interpolation for the Dirichlet Space and for $H_1(\mathbb{D})$

We give a characterization of onto interpolating sequences with finite associated measure for the Dirichlet space in terms of condenser capacity. In the Sobolev space $H_1(\mathbb{D})$ we define a natural notion of onto interpolation and we prove that the same condenser capacity condition characterizes all onto interpolating sequences. As a result, for sequences with finite associated measure, the problem of interpolation by an analytic function reduces to a problem of interpolation by a function in $H_1(\mathbb{D})$.

Random interpolating sequences in Dirichlet spaces

We discuss random interpolation in weighted Dirichlet spaces $\mathcal{D}_α$, $0\leq α\leq 1$. While conditions for deterministic interpolation in these spaces depend on capacities which are very hard to estimate in general, we show that random interpolation is driven by surprisingly simple distribution conditions. As a consequence, we obtain a breakpoint at $α=1/2$ in the behavior of these random interpolating sequences showing more precisely that almost sure interpolating sequences for $\mathcal{D}_α$ are exactly the almost sure separated sequences when $0\le α<1/2$ (which includes the Hardy space $H^2=\mathcal{D}_0$), and they are exactly the almost sure zero sequences for $\mathcal{D}_α$ when $1/2 \leq α\le 1$ (which includes the classical Dirichlet space $\mathcal{D}=\mathcal{D}_1$).

Generalized Integration Operators on Hardy Spaces

We introduce a natural generalization of a well studied integration operator acting on the family of Hardy spaces in the unit disc. We study the boundedness and compactness properties of the operator and finally we use these results to give simple proofs of a result of Rättyä and another result by Cohn.

Some Remarks on the Dirichlet Problem on Infinite Trees

We consider the Dirichlet problem on infinite and locally finite rooted trees, and we prove that the set of irregular points for continuous data has zero capacity. We also give some uniqueness results for solutions in Sobolev $ W^{1,p} $ of the tree.
