Nodal solutions for the double phase problems

We consider a parametric nonautonomous $(p, q)$-equation with unbalanced growth as follows \begin{align*} \left\{ \begin{aligned} &-Δ_p^αu(z)-Δ_q u(z)=λ\vert u(z)\vert^{τ-2}u(z)+f(z, u(z)), \quad \quad \hbox{in }Ω,\\ &u|_{\partial Ω}=0, \end{aligned} \right. \end{align*} where $Ω\subseteq \mathbb{R}^N$ be a bounded domain with Lispchitz boundary $\partialΩ$, $α\in L^{\infty}(Ω)\backslash \{0\}$, $a(z)\geq 0$ for a.e. $z \in Ω$, $ 1<τ< q 0$. In the reaction there is a parametric concave term and a perturbation $f(z, x)$. Under the minimal conditions on $f(z, 0)$, which essentially restrict its growth near zero, by employing variational tools, truncation and comparison techniques, as well as critical groups, we prove that for all small values of the parameter $λ>0$, the problem has at least three nontrivial bounded solutions (positive, negative, nodal), which are ordered and asymptotically vanish as $λ\rightarrow 0^{+}$.

Anisotropic $(p,q)$-equations with convex and negative concave terms

We consider a parametric Dirichlet problem driven by the anisotropic $(p,q)$-Laplacian and with a reaction which exhibits the combined effects of a superlinear (convex) term and of a negative sublinear term. Using variational tools and critical groups we show that for all small values of the parameter, the problem has at least three nontrivial smooth solutions, two of which are of constant sign (positive and negative).

Global multiplicity for parametric anisotropic Neumann $(p,q)$-equations

We consider a Neumann boundary value problem driven by the anisotropic $(p,q)$-Laplacian plus a parametric potential term. The reaction is ``superlinear". We prove a global (with respect to the parameter) multiplicity result for positive solutions. Also, we show the existence of a minimal positive solution and finally, we produce a nodal solution.

Constant sign and nodal solutions for parametric anisotropic $(p,2)$-equations

We consider an anisotropic $(p,2)$-equation, with a parametric and superlinear reaction term. We show that for all small values of the parameter the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, four with constant sign and the fifth nodal (sign-changing). The proofs use tools from critical point theory, truncation and comparison techniques, and critical groups.

Anisotropic singular Neumann equations with unbalanced growth

We consider a nonlinear parametric Neumann problem driven by the anisotropic $(p,q)$-Laplacian and a reaction which exhibits the combined effects of a singular term and of a parametric superlinear perturbation. We are looking for positive solutions. Using a combination of topological and variational tools together with suitable truncation and comparison techniques, we prove a bifurcation-type result describing the set of positive solutions as the positive parameter $λ$ varies. We also show the existence of minimal positive solutions $u_λ^*$ and determine the monotonicity and continuity properties of the map $λ\mapsto u_λ^*$.

Existence of solutions for singular double phase problems via the Nehari manifold method

In this paper we study quasilinear elliptic equations driven by the double phase operator and a right-hand side which has the combined effect of a singular and of a parametric term. Based on the fibering method by using the Nehari manifold we are going to prove the existence of at least two weak solutions for such problems when the parameter is sufficiently small.

Parametric superlinear double phase problems with singular term and critical growth on the boundary

In this paper we study quasilinear elliptic equations driven by the double phase operator along with a reaction that has a singular and a parametric superlinear term and with a nonlinear Neumann boundary condition of critical growth. Based on a new equivalent norm for Musielak-Orlicz Sobolev spaces and the Nehari manifold along with the fibering method we prove the existence of at least two weak solutions provided the parameter is sufficiently small.

Anisotropic $(p,q)$-equations with gradient dependent reaction

We consider a Dirichlet problem driven by the anisotropic $(p,q)$-Laplacian and a reaction with gradient dependence (convection). The presence of the gradient in the source term excludes from consideration a variational approach in dealing with the qualitative analysis of this problem with unbalanced growth. Using the frozen variable method and eventually a fixed point theorem, the main result of this paper establishes that the problem has a positive smooth solution.

Positive solutions for singular double phase problems

We study the existence of positive solutions for a class of double phase Dirichlet equations which have the combined effects of a singular term and of a parametric superlinear term. The differential operator of the equation is the sum of a $p$-Laplacian and of a weighted $q$-Laplacian ($q 0$, the equation has at least two positive solutions.

Singular Dirichlet $(p,q)$-equations

We consider a nonlinear Dirichlet problem driven by the $(p,q)$-Laplacian and with a reaction having the combined effects of a singular term and of a parametric $(p-1)$-superlinear perturbation. We prove a bifurcation-type result describing the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter $λ>0$ varies. Moreover, we prove the existence of a minimal positive solution $u^*_λ$ and study the monotonicity and continuity properties of the map $λ\to u^*_λ$.

On a class of singular anisotropic $(p,q)$-equations

We consider a Dirichlet problem driven by the anisotropic $(p,q)$-Laplacian and with a reaction that has the competing effects of a singular term and of a parametric superlinear perturbation. Based on variational tools along with truncation and comparison techniques, we prove a bifurcation-type result describing the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter varies.

A multiplicity theorem for anisotropic Robin equations

In this paper we consider an anisotropic Robin problem driven by the $p(x)$-Laplacian and a superlinear reaction. Applying variational tools along with truncation and comparison techniques as well as critical groups, we prove that the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions to be ordered and with sign information: two positive, two negative and the fifth nodal.

Positive solutions for singular anisotropic $(p,q)$-equations

In this paper we consider a Dirichlet problem driven by an anisotropic $(p,q)$-differential operator and a parametric reaction having the competing effects of a singular term and of a superlinear perturbation. We prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter moves. Moreover, we prove the existence of a minimal positive solution and determine the monotonicity and continuity properties of the minimal solution map.

On the logistic equation for the fractional p-Laplacian

We consider a Dirichlet type problem for a nonlinear, nonlocal equation driven by the degenerate fractional p-Laplacian, with a logistic type reaction depending on a positive parameter. In the subdiffusive and equidiffusive cases, we prove existence and uniqueness of the positive solution when the parameter lies in convenient intervals. In the superdiffusive case, we establish a bifurcation result. A new strong comparison result, of independent interest, plays a crucial role in the proof of such bifurcation result.

Positive solutions for the Robin $p$-Laplacian plus an indefinite potential

We consider a nonlinear elliptic equation driven by the Robin $p$-Laplacian plus an indefinite potential. In the reaction we have the competing effects of a strictly $(p-1)$-sublinear parametric term and of a $(p-1)$-linear and nonuniformly nonresonant term. We study the set of positive solutions as the parameter $λ>0$ varies. We prove a bifurcation-type result for large values of the positive parameter $λ$. Also, we show that for all admissible $λ>0$, the problem has a smallest positive solution $\overline{u}_λ$ and we study the monotonicity and continuity properties of the map $λ\mapsto\overline{u}_λ$.

Robin double-phase problems with singular and superlinear terms

We consider a nonlinear Robin problem driven by the sum of $p$-Laplacian and $q$-Laplacian (i.e. the $(p,q)$-equation). In the reaction there are competing effects of a singular term and a parametric perturbation $λf(z,x)$, which is Carathéodory and $(p-1)$-superlinear at $x\in\mathbb{R},$ without satisfying the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Using variational tools, together with truncation and comparison techniques, we prove a bifurcation-type result describing the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter $λ>0$ varies.
