Global well-posedness for nonlinear generalized Camassa-Holm equation

We establish local and global well-posedness for the Cauchy problem of a generalized Camassa-Holm equation where orders of the momentum and the nonlinearity can be arbitrarily high. More precisely, we consider the equation \begin{equation*} m_t + m_x u^p + b m u^{p-1}u_x = -(g(u))_x + (b+1)u^p u_x, \quad m = (1-\partial_x^2)^k u, \end{equation*} where $p \geq 1$, $k \geq 1$ are arbitrary, $b$ is a real parameter, and $g(u)$ is a smooth function. %The standard Camassa-Holm equation corresponds to $k=1$, $p=1$, $b=2$, and $g(u)=0$. The local well-posedness is shown by using Kato's semigroup approach, where we treat the nonlinearity directly using commutator estimates and the fractional Leibniz rule without having to transform it in any specific differential form. This well-posedness is obtained in the phase space $H^s$ for $s > 2(k-1) + 3/2$, which is consistent with the results for the classical Camassa-Holm equation. We also prove the global existence of solutions by obtaining conserved quantity and applying the same idea from our local theory.

Global and blow-up solutions for a non-local integrable equation with applications to geometry

We establish the global existence of higher-order Sobolev solutions for a non-local integrable evolution equation arising in the study of pseudospherical surfaces and non-linear wave propagation. Under a natural assumption on the initial momentum, we prove that the solution remains globally regular in arbitrary finite-order Sobolev spaces. The proof relies on an inductive energy method involving a hierarchy of functional estimates and applies to both the periodic and non-periodic settings. We determine a criterion for the existence of blow-up solutions. The consequences of these qualitative properties of the solutions on Riemannian surfaces determined by the solutions of the equation are investigated.

On the Cauchy Problem for the Dispersion Generalized Camassa-Holm Equation

In this paper, we establish local well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for a recently proposed dispersion generalized Camassa-Holm equation by using Kato's semigroup approach for quasi-linear evolution equations. We show that for initial data in the Sobolev space $H^{s}(\mathbb{R})$ with $s>\frac{7}{2}+p$, the Cauchy problem is locally well-posed, where $p$ is an even real number determined by the order of the positive differential operator $L$ corresponding to the dispersive effect added to the Camassa-Holm equation.

Existence and uniqueness of periodic pseudospherical surfaces emanating from Cauchy problems

We study implications and consequences of well-posed solutions of Cauchy problems of a Novikov equation describing pseudospherical surfaces. We show that if the co-frame of dual one-forms satisfies certain conditions for a given periodic initial datum, then there exists exactly two families of periodic one-forms satisfying the structural equations for a surface. Each pair then defines a metric of constant Gaussian curvature and a corresponding Levi-Civita connection form. We prove the existence of universal connection forms giving rise to second fundamental forms compatible with the metric. The main tool to prove our geometrical results is the Kato's semi-group approach, which is used to establish well-posedness of solutions of the Cauchy problem involved and ensure $C^1$ regularity for the first fundamental form and the Levi-Civita connection form.

The Cauchy problem and continuation of periodic solutions for a generalized Camassa-Holm equation

We consider a three-parameter family of non-linear equations with $(p+1)-$order non-linearities. Such family includes as a particular member the well-known $b-$equation, which encloses the famous Camassa-Holm equation. For certain choices of the parameters we establish a global existence result and show a scenario that prevent the wave breaking of solutions. Also, we explore unique continuation properties for some values of the parameters.

Well-posedness of a highly nonlinear shallow water equation on the circle

We present a comprehensive introduction and overview of a recently derived model equation for waves of large amplitude in the context of shallow water waves and provide a literature review of all the available studies on this equation. Furthermore, we establish a novel result concerning the local well-posedness of the corresponding Cauchy problem for space-periodic solutions with initial data from the Sobolev space $H^s$ on the circle for $s>3/2$.

On the Cauchy Problem for the Fractional Camassa-Holm Equation

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for the fractional Camassa-Holm equation which models the propagation of small-but-finite amplitude long unidirectional waves in a nonlocally and nonlinearly elastic medium. Using Kato's semigroup approach for quasilinear evolution equations, we prove that the Cauchy problem is locally well-posed for data in $H^{s}({\Bbb R})$, $s>{\frac{5}{2}}$.
