Financial Bond Similarity Search Using Representation Learning

Finding similar bonds remains challenging in fixed-income analytics, as numerical financial attributes often overshadow categorical non-financial ones such as issuer sector and domicile. This paper shows that these categorical attributes dominate the predictability of spread curves and proposes embedding models to capture their semantic similarities, outperforming one-hot and many other baselines. Evaluated via sparse-issuer augmentation, the approach improves risk modeling and curve construction.

Logarithmic Euler Maruyama Scheme for Multi Dimensional Stochastic Delay Differential Equation

In this paper, we extend the logarithmic Euler-Maruyama scheme for stochastic delay differential equation in one dimension to the part where we propose a scheme for a system of stochastic delay differential equations. We then show that the scheme always maintains positivity subject to initial conditions. We then show the convergence of the proposed Euler-Maruyama scheme. With this scheme, all the approximate solutions are positive and the rate of convergence of this scheme is 0.5.

Jump Models with delay -- option pricing and logarithmic Euler-Maruyama scheme

In this paper, we obtain the existence, uniqueness and positivity of the solution to delayed stochastic differential equations with jumps. This equation is then applied to model the price movement of the risky asset in a financial market and the Black-Scholes formula for the price of European options is obtained together with the hedging portfolios. The option price is evaluated analytically at the last delayed period by using the Fourier transformation technique. But in general, there is no analytical expression for the option price. To evaluate the price numerically we then use the Monte-Carlo method. To this end, we need to simulate the delayed stochastic differential equations with jumps. We propose a logarithmic Euler-Maruyama scheme to approximate the equation and prove that all the approximations remain positive and the rate of convergence of the scheme is proved to be $0.5$.

Practical Option Valuations of Futures Contracts with Negative Underlying Prices

Here we propose two alternatives to Black 76 to value European option future contracts in which the underlying market prices can be negative or mean reverting. The two proposed models are Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) and continuous time GARCH (generalized autoregressive conditionally heteroscedastic). We then analyse the values and compare them with Black 76, the most commonly used model, when the underlying market prices are positive

Unsupervised Learning from Narrated Instruction Videos

We address the problem of automatically learning the main steps to complete a certain task, such as changing a car tire, from a set of narrated instruction videos. The contributions of this paper are three-fold. First, we develop a new unsupervised learning approach that takes advantage of the complementary nature of the input video and the associated narration. The method solves two clustering problems, one in text and one in video, applied one after each other and linked by joint constraints to obtain a single coherent sequence of steps in both modalities. Second, we collect and annotate a new challenging dataset of real-world instruction videos from the Internet. The dataset contains about 800,000 frames for five different tasks that include complex interactions between people and objects, and are captured in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Third, we experimentally demonstrate that the proposed method can automatically discover, in an unsupervised manner, the main steps to achieve the task and locate the steps in the input videos.
