Spectra of alternating Hilbert operators

Spectra of real alternating operators seem to be quite interesting from the view point of explaining the Riemann Hypothesis for various zeta functions. Unfortunately we have not sufficient experiments concerning this theme. Necessary works would be to supply new examples of spectra related to zeros and poles of zeta functions. A century ago Hilbert (1907) considered a kind of operators representing quadratic forms of infinitely many variables. Demonstrating the calculation of spectra for alternating Hilbert operators we hope to present a novel scheme in this paper. Authors expect this study encourages experts for further studies.

Ruelle type L-functions versus determinants of Laplacians for torsion free abelian groups

We study Ruelle's type zeta and $L$-functions for a torsion free abelian group $\G$ of rank $\n\ge 2$ defined via an Euler product. It is shown that the imaginary axis is a natural boundary of this zeta function when $\n=2,4$ and 8, and in particular, such a zeta function has no determinant expression. Thus, conversely, expressions like Euler's product for the determinant of the Laplacians of the torus $\bR^{\n}/\G$ defined via zeta regularizations are investigated. Also, the limit behavior of an arithmetic function arising from the Ruelle type zeta function is observed.

A variation of Euler's approach to values of the Riemann zeta function

An elementary method of computing the values at negative integers of the Riemann zeta function is presented. The principal ingredient is a new q-analogue of the Riemann zeta function. We show that for any argument other than 1 the classical limit of this q-analogue exists and equals the value of the Riemann zeta.
