Multibaryons as Symmetric Multiskyrmions

We study non-adiabatic corrections to multibaryon systems within the bound state approach to the SU(3) Skyrme model. We use approximate ansatze for the static background fields based on rational maps which have the same symmetries of the exact solutions. To determine the explicit form of the collective Hamiltonians and wave functions we only make use of these symmetries. Thus, the expressions obtained are also valid in the exact case. On the other hand, the inertia parameters and hyperfine splitting constants we calculate do depend on the detailed form of the ansatze and are, therefore, approximate. Using these values we compute the low lying spectra of multibaryons with B <= 9 and strangeness 0, -1 and -B. Finally, we show that the non-adiabatic corrections do not affect the stability of the tetralambda and heptalambda found in a previous work.

Casimir corrections in the bound state soliton model

We consider the one-loop corrections to the SU(3) skyrmion mass within the bound state soliton approach. We show that the standard SU(3) renormalization scheme is not appropiate within this framework and propose to use an alternative one based on SU(2). For physical meson masses and decay constants the resulting Casimir correction turns out to be rather scale-independent and leads to an acceptable estimate of the nucleon mass.

Hyperon Polarizabilities in the Bound State Soliton Model

A detailed calculation of electric and magnetic static polarizabilities of octet hyperons is presented in the framework of the bound state soliton model. Both seagull and dispersive contributions are considered, and the results are compared with different model predictions.

A $J^π= 0^-$ Resonance for $πNN \to πNN $ in the Skyrme Model

The scattering of pions on a dibaryon configuration is analyzed within the $SU(2)$ Skyrme model. It is shown that this model leads to a low-lying $(J^P,I)= (0^-,2)$ resonance. The possibility that this resonance corresponds to one proposed recently in the context of double charge exchange pion scattering on nuclei is discussed. Given the setup used in those experiments we also show that a resonance with isospin assignment $I=0$ cannot be excited according to the description presented here.

Nucleon electric polarizability in soliton models and the role of the seagull terms

The full Hamiltonian of the soliton models contains no electric seagull terms. Here it is shown that if one restricts the fields to the collective subspace then electric seagull terms are induced in the effective Hamiltonian. These effective seagull contributions are consistent with gauge invariance. They also reproduce the leading nonanalytic behavior of a large $N_c$ chiral perturbation theory calculation of the electric polarizability.
