On the Hardy-Sobolev equation

In this paper we study the Hardy problem in R^N with N>2 and in a ball B of R^N. Using a suitable map we transform the Hardy problem into another one without the singular term. Then we obtain some bifurcation results from the radial positive solutions corresponding to some explicit values of the parameter lambda.

Precise exponential decay for solutions of semilinear elliptic equations and its effect on the structure of the solution set for a real analytic nonlinearity

We are concerned with the properties of weak solutions of the stationary Schrödinger equation $-Δu + Vu = f(u)$, $u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)\cap L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^N)$, where $V$ is Hölder continuous and $\inf V>0$. Assuming $f$ to be continuous and bounded near $0$ by a power function with exponent larger than $1$ we provide precise decay estimates at infinity for solutions in terms of Green's function of the Schrödinger operator. In some cases this improves known theorems on the decay of solutions. If $f$ is also real analytic on $(0,\infty)$ we obtain that the set of positive solutions is locally path connected. For a periodic potential $V$ this implies that the standard variational functional has discrete critical values in the low energy range and that a compact isolated set of positive solutions exists, under additional assumptions.

Some Remarks on the Fucik Spectrum of the p-Laplacian and Critical Groups

We compute critical groups of variational functionals arising from quasilinear elliptic boundary value problems with jumping nonlinearities, when the asymptotic limits of the equation lie in various regions of the plane that are separated by certain curves of the Fucik spectrum. As an application some existence and multiplicity results are established via Morse theoretic and perturbation arguments.

On the symmetry and uniqueness of solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau equations for small domains

In this paper, we study the Ginzburg-Landau equations for a two dimensional domain which has small size. We prove that if the domain is small, then the solution has no zero, that is no vortex. More precisely, we show that the order parameter $Ψ$ is almost constant. Additionnally, we obtain that if the domain is a disc of small radius, then any non normal solution is symmetric and unique. Then, in the case of a slab, that is a one dimensional domain, we use the same method to derive that solutions are symmetric. The proofs use a priori estimates and the Poincaré inequality.
