Improvement and Stabilization of Output Voltages in a Vertical Tidal Turbine Using Intelligent Control Strategies

This article investigates on the improvement and stabilization of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) output voltages in a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) driven by a vertical-axis tidal turbine using advanced control strategies. The research integrates artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques to enhance voltage stability and efficiency. Initially, the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) approach based on Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Fuzzy logic controllers is explored. To further optimize the performance, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and a hybrid ANN-PSO methodology are implemented. These strategies aim to refine the reference rotational speed of the turbine while minimizing deviations from optimal power extraction conditions. The simulation results of a tidal turbine operating at a water flow velocity of 1.5 m/s demonstrate that the PSO-based control approach significantly enhances the voltage stability compared to conventional MPPT-TSR and ANN-Fuzzy controllers. The hybrid ANN-PSO technique improves the voltage regulation by dynamically adapting to system variations and providing real-time reference speed adjustments. This research highlights the AI-based hybrid optimization benefit to stabilize the output voltage of tidal energy systems, thereby increasing reliability and efficiency in renewable energy applications.

Experimental Study of Magnetic Near-Field Microstrip Electronic Probe for PCB EMC Emission Measurement

An experimental study on magnetic near-field (NF) scanning of printed circuit board (PCB) emission radiation is developed in this paper. The design and installation of the electromagnetic (EM) NF scanner is introduced. The test bed of magnetic NF emission in the microwave frequency range is described. The methodology of the microstrip magnetic NF probe is discussed. The probe calibration process was performed following the IEC 61967-1 NF scanning standard. The NF scanner functioning is tested with passive microstrip circuit square loop probe and device under test (DUT) PCB radiation in the test plan positioned at 1-mm above the ground plane. Based on the standard test with I-shape 50-$\Omega$ transmission line (TL), the calibration process of radiated magnetic field was validated by comparison between HFSS__ simulation and experimentation in very wideband frequency from 0.1-GHz to 3-GHz. Then, a nonstandard TL based DUT was experimented. Accordingly, the cartographies of scanned magnetic NF at two different test frequencies, 2 GHz and 3 GHz, are discussed. The NF scanner is under development for targeting the EMC radiated emission of PCB dedicated to operate in 6G wireless communication.

Integrating Over Sea Radio Channel for Sea Turtles Localization in the Indian Ocean

This paper deals with the modeling of over sea radio channel with the aim of establishing sea turtle localization off the coast of Reunion Island but also on Europa Island in the Mozambique Channel. In order to model this radio channel, we are making a measurement protocol. In a first approach, measurements of turtle trajectory were done over land and finally it will be conducted over sea. We have scheduled an over sea measurement campaign in the middle of June. This paper shows a signal cross correlation technique used to characterize the over sea propagation channel.

Implementation of a Wake-up Radio Cross-Layer Protocol in OMNeT++ / MiXiM

This paper presents the DoRa protocol, which is a new cross-layer protocol for handling the double radio of nodes in wake-up radio scenario. The implementation details in OMNET++/MiXiM are also given, with a focus on the implemented MAC layers. The main goal of the DoRa protocol is to reduce energy consumption in wireless sensor network, by taking full advantage of the passive wake-up scheme. The performance of the DoRa protocol is then evaluated and results are compared with B-MAC and IEEE 802.15.4 protocols.
