Spectral Expansion Series with Parenthesis for the Nonself-adjoint Periodic Differential Operators

In this paper we construct the spectral expansion for the differential operator generated in all real line by ordinary differential expression of arbitrary order with periodic complex-valued coefficients by introducing new concepts as essential spectral singularities and singular quasimomenta and using the series with parenthesis. Moreover, we find a criteria for which the spectral expansion coincides with the Gelfand expansion for the self-adjoint case.

On the finite-zone periodic PT-symmetric potentials

In this paper we find explicit conditions on the periodic PT-symmetric complex-valued potential q for which the number of gaps in the real part of the spectrum of the one-dimensional Schrodinger operator L(q) is finite.

The Spectrum of the Hamiltonian with a PT-symmetric Periodic Optical Potential

We give a complete description, provided with a mathematical proof, of the shape of the spectrum of the Hill operator with a PT-symmetric periodic optical potential. We prove that the second critical point, after which the real parts of the first and second bands disappear, is a number between 0.8884370025 and 0.8884370117. Moreover we prove that it is the degeneration point for the first periodic eigenvalue. Besides, we give a scheme by which one can find arbitrary precise value of the second critical point as well as the k-th critical points after which the real parts of the (2k-3)th and (2k-2)th bands disappear, where k=3,4,...

Spectral Analysis of the Non-self-adjoint Mathieu-Hill Operator

We obtain uniform, with respect to t asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalues of the operators generated in (0,1) by the Mathieu-Hill equation with a complex-valued potential and by the t-periodic boundary conditions. Then using it we investigate the non-self-adjoint Mathieu-Hill operator H generated in the allreal line by the same equation and establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for the potential for which H has no spectral singularity at infinity and it is an asymptotically spectral operator.

On a Class of Non-self-adjoint Multidimensional Periodic Schrodinger Operators

We investigate the multidimensional Schrodinger operator L(q) with complex-valued periodic, with respect to a lattice, potential q when the Fourier coefficients of q with respect to the orthogonal system {exp(i(a,x))}, where a changes in the dual lattice, vanish if a belong to a half-space We prove that the Bloch eigenvalues of L(q) and of the free operator L(0) are the same and find explicit formulas for the Bloch functions. It implies that the Fermi surfaces of L(q) and L(0) are the same. The considered set of operators includes a large class of PT symmetric operators used in the PT symmetric quantum theory.

Spectral Problems of a Class of Non-self-adjoint One-dimensional Schrodinger Operators

In this paper we investigate the one-dimensional Schrodinger operator L(q) with complex-valued periodic potential q when q\inL_{1}[0,1] and q_{n}=0 for n=0,-1,-2,..., where q_{n} are the Fourier coefficients of q with respect to the system {e^{i2πnx}}. We prove that the Bloch eigenvalues are (2πn+t)^{2} for n\inZ, t\inC and find explicit formulas for the Bloch functions. Then we consider the inverse problem for this operator.

On the Non-Self-adjoint Sturm-Liouville Operators in the Space of Vector-Functions

In this article we obtain asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the non-self-adjoint operator generated in space of vector-functions by the Sturm-Liouville equation with m by m matrix potential and the boundary conditions whose scalar case (m=1) are strongly regular. Using these asymptotic formulas, we find a condition on the potential for which the root functions of this operator form a Riesz basis.

Asymptotic Analysis of Non-self-adjoint Hill Operators

We obtain the uniform asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Sturm-Liouville operators L_{t}(q) with a potential q\inL_{1}[0,1] and with t-periodic boundary conditions, t\in(-π,π]. Using these formulas, we find sufficient conditions on the potential q such that the number of spectral singularities in the spectrum of the Hill operator L(q) in L_{2}(-\infty,\infty) is finite. Then we prove that the operator L(q) has no spectral singularities at infinity and it is an asymptotically spectral operator provided that the potential q satisfies the sufficient conditions.

Isospectral Mathieu-Hill Operators

In this paper we prove that the spectrum of the Mathieu-Hill Operators with potentials ae^{-i2πx}+be^{i2πx} and ce^{-i2πx}+de^{i2πx} are the same if and only if ab=cd, where a,b,c and d are complex numbers. This result implies some corollaries about the extension of Harrell-Avron-Simon formula. Moreover, we find explicit formulas for the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the t-periodic boundary value problem for the Hill operator with Gasymov's potential.

An Algorithm for Finding the Periodic Potential of the Three-dimensional Schrodinger Operator from the Spectral Invariants

In this paper, we investigate the three-dimensional Schrodinger operator with a periodic, relative to a lattice Ω of R3, potential q. A special class V of the periodic potentials is constructed, which is easily and constructively determined from the spectral invariants. First, we give an algorithm for the unique determination of the potential q in V of the three-dimensional Schrodinger operator from the spectral invariants that were determined constructively from the given Bloch eigenvalues. Then we consider the stability of the algorithm with respect to the spectral invariants and Bloch eigenvalues. Finally, we prove that there are no other periodic potentials in the set of large class of functions whose Bloch eigenvalues coincides with the Bloch eigenvalues of q in V.

On the Basis Property of the Root Functions of Differential Operators with Matrix Coefficients

We obtain asymptotic formulas for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the operator generated by a system of ordinary differential equations with summable coefficients and periodic or antiperiodic boundary conditions. Then using these asymptotic formulas, we find necessary and sufficient conditions on the coefficients for which the system of eigenfunctions and associated functions of the operator under consideration forms a Riesz basis.
