Influence of transverse field on the spin-3/2 Blume-Capel model on rectangular lattice

Transverse field effect on thermodynamic properties of the spin-3/2 Blume-Capel model on rectangular lattice in which the interactions in perpendicular directions differ in signs is studied within the mean field approximation. Phase diagrams in the (transverse field, temperature) plane are constructed for various values of single-ion anisotropy.

Phase diagrams of spin-3/2 Blume-Capel model on rectangular lattice under longitudinal magnetic field

The spin-3/2 Blume-Capel model on a rectangular lattice with the ferromagnetic bilinear short-range interaction $K^{\rm F}=K(1+x)$ in one direction and the anti-ferromagnetic one $K^{\rm AF}=K(-1+x)$ in the perpendicular direction under a longitudinal magnetic field and in the presence of a single-ion anisotropy is investigated within the mean field approximation. The quantity $x$ characterizes coupling between the interactions in the perpendicular directions and its absolute value does not exceed unity. Basing on the study of temperature dependencies of sublattice magnetizations the phase diagrams in the ($x$, temperature) plane are constructed for different values of the longitudinal magnetic field and the single-ion anisotropy. The global phase diagram of the model demonstrates an unusual abundance.

Generalized Thermal Lattice Gases

We show how to employ thermal lattice gas models to describe non-equilibrium phenomena. This is achieved by relaxing the restrictions of the usual micro-canonical ensemble for these models via the introduction of thermal ``demons'' in the style of Creutz. Within the Lattice Boltzmann approximation, we then derive general expressions for the usual transport coefficients of such models, in terms of the derivatives of their equilibrium distribution functions. To illustrate potential applications, we choose a model obeying Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics, and simulate Rayleigh-Bénard convection with a forcing term and a temperature gradient, both of which are continuously variable.
