Probing the limits on anomalous quartic gauge couplings via $ZZ\gamma$ production in the $\ell\ell\nu\nu\gamma$ channel at FCC-hh

In this study, the sensitivity to anomalous quartic gauge couplings (aQGCs) is projected via $pp \rightarrow ZZ\gamma$ production in the 100 TeV proton-proton Future Circular Collider - hadron-hadron (FCC-hh) for an integrated luminosity of 30 ab$^{-1}$. The $\ell\ell\nu\nu\gamma$ final state under consideration consists of a same-flavor, opposite-sign lepton pair (electrons or muons) from one $Z$ boson, the invisible decay of the other $Z$ boson into neutrinos, and an accompanying photon. The FCC-hh detector response and its effects on the reconstructed objects are included through a realistic detector simulation. Three multivariate techniques are employed to separate the signal from the relevant SM backgrounds. Unitarity is preserved by a strict, operator-dependent bound on the total transverse mass ($M_T^{tot}$) of the system. The median expected significances are calculated within the Asimov approximation for one anomalous coupling varied at a time and for background systematic uncertainties between 0\% and 10\%. The highest separation power is obtained with the deep neural network method. The resulting 95\% confidence level limits on $|f_{T0}/\Lambda^{4}|$, $|f_{T8}/\Lambda^{4}|$, $|f_{T9}/\Lambda^{4}|$ and $|f_{M2}/\Lambda^{4}|$ in the combined $e+\mu$ channel without systematic uncertainties are $2.83\times 10^{-3}$, $1.65\times 10^{-3}$, $3.81\times 10^{-3}$ and $8.97\times 10^{-3}$ TeV$^{-4}$, respectively. We have an order of magnitude improvement when compared to current LHC limits with the assumption of 5\% systematic uncertainty.

ECFA Higgs, electroweak, and top Factory Study

The ECFA Higgs, electroweak, and top Factory Study ran between 2021 and 2025 as a broad effort across the experimental and theoretical particle physics communities, bringing together participants from many different proposed future collider projects. Activities across three main working groups advanced the joint development of tools and analysis techniques, fostered new considerations of detector design and optimisation, and led to a new set of studies resulting in improved projected sensitivities across a wide physics programme. This report demonstrates the significant expansion in the state-of-the-art understanding of the physics potential of future e+e- Higgs, electroweak, and top factories, and has been submitted as input to the 2025 European Strategy for Particle Physics Update.

The Linear Collider Facility (LCF) at CERN

In this paper we outline a proposal for a Linear Collider Facility as the next flagship project for CERN. It offers the opportunity for a timely, cost-effective and staged construction of a new collider that will be able to comprehensively map the Higgs boson's properties, including the Higgs field potential, thanks to a large span in centre-of-mass energies and polarised beams. A comprehensive programme to study the Higgs boson and its closest relatives with high precision requires data at centre-of-mass energies from the Z pole to at least 1 TeV. It should include measurements of the Higgs boson in both major production mechanisms, ee -> ZH and ee -> vvH, precision measurements of gauge boson interactions as well as of the W boson, Higgs boson and top-quark masses, measurement of the top-quark Yukawa coupling through ee ->ttH, measurement of the Higgs boson self-coupling through HH production, and precision measurements of the electroweak couplings of the top quark. In addition, ee collisions offer discovery potential for new particles complementary to HL-LHC.

A Linear Collider Vision for the Future of Particle Physics

In this paper we review the physics opportunities at linear $e^+e^-$ colliders with a special focus on high centre-of-mass energies and beam polarisation, take a fresh look at the various accelerator technologies available or under development and, for the first time, discuss how a facility first equipped with a technology mature today could be upgraded with technologies of tomorrow to reach much higher energies and/or luminosities. In addition, we will discuss detectors and alternative collider modes, as well as opportunities for beyond-collider experiments and R\&D facilities as part of a linear collider facility (LCF). The material of this paper will support all plans for $e^+e^-$ linear colliders and additional opportunities they offer, independently of technology choice or proposed site, as well as R\&D for advanced accelerator technologies. This joint perspective on the physics goals, early technologies and upgrade strategies has been developed by the LCVision team based on an initial discussion at LCWS2024 in Tokyo and a follow-up at the LCVision Community Event at CERN in January 2025. It heavily builds on decades of achievements of the global linear collider community, in particular in the context of CLIC and ILC.

Investigating the Single Production of Vector-Like Quarks Decaying into Top Quark and W Boson through Hadronic Channels at the HL-LHC

We investigate the single production of vector-like quarks at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). With the assumed (enhanced) couplings to third generation quarks of the standard model, vector-like quarks $B/X$ are produced in association with a bottom ($b$) or top ($t$) quark, which correspond to $Bbq$ and $Btq/Xtq$ production modes, including an additional soft forward jet from the spectator quark ($q$). This study focuses on high-mass vector-like quarks $B/X$ decaying into a top quark and a $W$ boson, resulting in the final state jets emerging from hadronically decaying top quark ($t\to Wb$) and $W$ boson ($W\to q\bar{q}'$). The events with $W$ boson and $t$ quark have been analysed using tagging techniques for large-radius jets. The scan ranges of the mass ($1000<m_{B/X}<3000$ GeV) for the relative width $Γ_{B/X}/m_{B/X}=0.1$ and $Γ_{B/X}/m_{B/X}=0.01$ of vector-like $B/X$ quarks have been investigated. From the results of the analysis, the masses of vector like quarks $B$($X$) up to $2491$ ($2364$) GeV and $2018$ ($1873$) GeV can be excluded corresponding to these relative width cases at $95\%$ CL depending on the type and branching scenarios at integrated luminosity projection of $3$ ab$^{-1}$ at the HL-LHC.

Studying Same-Sign Top Pair Production in Flavor Changing Scalar Models at the HL-LHC

We investigate the potential of the HL-LHC for discovering new physics effects via the same-sign top pair signatures. We focus on the semi leptonic (electron and muon) decay of the top quarks and study the reach for a simplified model approach where top quark flavor changing could occur through a neutral scalar exchange. A relatively smaller background contribution and clean signature are the advantages of the leptonic decay mode of the same-sign $W$ bosons in the same-sign production processes of top quark pairs. Assuming the FCNC between top quark, up type quark and scalar boson from the new physics interactions the branchings could be excluded of the order ${\cal O}(10^{-4})$. We use angular observables of the same-sign lepton pairs and the top quark kinematics in the process which provide the possibility of separation of new physics signal from the SM backgrounds using machine learning teqniques. We find that the same-sign top quark pair production is quite capable of testing the top-Higgs FCNCs at the HL-LHC.

Projected Sensivity to Dimension-6 Triple Gauge Couplings at the FCC-hh

In this study, we investigate the process $pp \rightarrow W^{\pm} γ$ for the physics potential of the FCC-hh with $\sqrt{s}=100$ TeV to examine the anomalous $WWγ$ couplings defined by three CP-conserving and two CP-violating effective operators of dimension-6. The analysis containing the realistic detector effects is carried out in the mode where $W^{\pm}$ bosons in the final state decay into the leptonic channel. The best sensitivities obtained from the process $pp \rightarrow W^{\pm} γ$ on the anomalous couplings $C_{WWW}/ Λ^{2}$ and $C_{W,B}/ Λ^{2}$ determined by CP-conserving effective Lagrangians are $[-0.01; 0.01]$ TeV$^{-2}$ and $[-0.88; 0.88]$ TeV$^{-2}$, while $C_{\tilde{W}WW}/ Λ^{2}$ and $C_{\tilde{W}}/ Λ^{2}$ couplings defined by CP-violating effective Lagrangian are obtained as $[-0.03; 0.03]$ TeV$^{-2}$ and $[-0.47; 0.47]$ TeV$^{-2}$ at the FCC-hh with $\sqrt{s}=100$ TeV, $L_{int}=30$ ab$^{-1}$. However, if the systematic uncertainty is included, we obtain reduced sensitivities on the anomalous $WWγ$ coupling . The results are compared for assumed systematics of $5\%$ and $10\%$.

Investigating Top-Higgs FCNC Couplings at the FCC-hh

We have studied the sensitivity to flavor changing neutral current interaction of top and Higgs boson at the future circular collider in the hadron-hadron collision mode (FCC-hh). Our main concerns are the processes of $pp\rightarrow th$ (FCNC production) and $pp\rightarrow t\bar{t}$ (one top FCNC decay) which contributes to the single lepton, at least three jets and the missing energy transverse in the final state. On the one hand FCC-hh offers very high luminosity and large cross section for these signal processes, on the other hand signal can be distinguished from background which needs application of ingenious methods. Here, we have inspired and followed the searches at the LHC using our analysis path and enhanced attainable limits obtained on the possible top-Higgs FCNC couplings phenomenologically. We obtain new limits which are beyond the current experimental limits obtained from different channels and processes at the LHC. The potential discovery or exclusion limits on branching ratios for $tqH$ FCNC interactions can be set $BR(η_{uc})_{\mathrm{disc}}=9.08\times10^{-6}$ or $BR(η_{uc})_{\mathrm{exc}}=2.78\times10^{-6}$ at an integrated luminosity of 30 ab$^{-1}$ , respectively. Our results are compatible with the other channels already studied at FCC-hh.

Single Production of Vectorlike Y Quarks at the HL-LHC

We study single production of exotic vectorlike $Y$ quark with electric charge $|Q_{Y}|=4/3$ and its subsequent decay at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). Most of the vector like quark (VLQ) decays have the electroweak $W$ bosons in the intermediate state. Besides their direct productions singly or pairs, the $W$-bosons are involved in decay chains as a result of the decay of a top quark which contributes to the background. This is particularly the case since vectorlike $Y$ quark, which is estimated to be produced with a high cross-section, can only decay via a $W$ boson and a down type quark ($d,s,b$). We calculate the cross sections of signal (for different couplings and mass values) and relevant Standard Model (SM) backgrounds. After a fast simulation of signal and background events, estimations of the sensitivity to the parameters (mass range 1000-2500 GeV for coupling value $κ_{Y}=0.5$, and mass range 500-2000 GeV for coupling values $κ_{Y}=0.3$ and $κ_{Y}=0.15$) have been presented at the HL-LHC with center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV and integrated luminosity projections of 300 fb$^{-1}$, 1000 fb$^{-1}$ and 3000 fb$^{-1}$.

The RFQ design tool DEMIRCI aims to provide fast and accurate simulation of a light ion accelerating cavity and of the ion beam in it. It is a modern tool with a graphical user interface leading to a "point and click" method to help the designer. This article summarises the recent software developments such as the addition of RFQ acceptance match, beam dynamics and 8-term potential coefficient calculations. Its results are compared to other similar software, to discuss the attained compatibility level.

The Large Hadron-Electron Collider at the HL-LHC

The Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) is designed to move the field of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) to the energy and intensity frontier of particle physics. Exploiting energy recovery technology, it collides a novel, intense electron beam with a proton or ion beam from the High Luminosity--Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). The accelerator and interaction region are designed for concurrent electron-proton and proton-proton operation. This report represents an update of the Conceptual Design Report (CDR) of the LHeC, published in 2012. It comprises new results on parton structure of the proton and heavier nuclei, QCD dynamics, electroweak and top-quark physics. It is shown how the LHeC will open a new chapter of nuclear particle physics in extending the accessible kinematic range in lepton-nucleus scattering by several orders of magnitude. Due to enhanced luminosity, large energy and the cleanliness of the hadronic final states, the LHeC has a strong Higgs physics programme and its own discovery potential for new physics. Building on the 2012 CDR, the report represents a detailed updated design of the energy recovery electron linac (ERL) including new lattice, magnet, superconducting radio frequency technology and further components. Challenges of energy recovery are described and the lower energy, high current, 3-turn ERL facility, PERLE at Orsay, is presented which uses the LHeC characteristics serving as a development facility for the design and operation of the LHeC. An updated detector design is presented corresponding to the acceptance, resolution and calibration goals which arise from the Higgs and parton density function physics programmes. The paper also presents novel results on the Future Circular Collider in electron-hadron mode, FCC-eh, which utilises the same ERL technology to further extend the reach of DIS to even higher centre-of-mass energies.

Investigation of Charged Higgs Boson in the Bottom and Top Quark Decay Channel at the FCC-hh

After the recent discovery of a neutral Higgs boson with a mass about 125 GeV, we assess the extend of discovery potential of future circular hadron collider (FCC-hh) for a charged Higgs boson in the bottom and top quark decay channel. The charged Higgs boson can be produced through the pp->h^{-}t+X process with a subsequent decay h^{-}->b bar{t} channel. This decay channel is particularly important for studying the charged Higgs boson heavier than the top quark. We consider an extension of the standard model Higgs sector, namely two Higgs doublet model (2HDM), and perform a dedicated signal significance analysis to test this channel for the FCC-hh running at the center of mass energy of 100 TeV and the integrated luminosity of 1 ab^{-1} (initial) and 30 ab^{-1} (ultimate). We find that an important part of the parameter spaces of two Higgs doublet model are examinable at the FCC-hh.

Observation of a cross-section enhancement near mass threshold in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ$

The process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ$ is studied using data samples at $\sqrt{s}=2.2324$, 2.400, 2.800 and 3.080 GeV collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section is measured at $\sqrt{s}$=2.2324 GeV, which is 1.0 MeV above the $Λ\barΛ$ mass threshold, to be $305\pm45^{+66}_{-36}$ pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The substantial cross section near threshold is significantly larger than that expected from theory, which predicts the cross section to vanish at threshold. The Born cross sections at $\sqrt{s}$=2.400, 2.800 and 3.080 GeV are measured and found to be consistent with previous experimental results, but with improved precision. Finally, the corresponding effective electromagnetic form factors of $Λ$ are deduced.

The projections on $ZZγ$ and $Zγγ$ couplings via $ν\bar νγ$ production in HL-LHC and HE-LHC

We investigate the sensitivity of the anomalous dimension-8 neutral triple gauge couplings via process $pp\to ννγ$ with fast detector simulation including pile-up effects for the post LHC experiments. The transverse momentum of the final state photon and missing energy transverse distributions are considered in the analysis. We obtain the sensitivity to the $C_{\widetilde B W}/Λ^4$, $C_{B B}/Λ^4$, $C_{WW}/Λ^4$ and $C_{BW}/Λ^4$ couplings at HL-LHC and HE-LHC with an integrated luminosity of 3 ab$^{-1}$ and 15 ab$^{-1}$, respectively. Finally, our numerical results show that one can reach the constraints at 95\% confidence level without systematic error on $C_{\widetilde BW}/Λ^4$, $C_{B B}/Λ^4$, $C_{W W}/Λ^4$ and $C_{BW}/Λ^4$ couplings for HL-LHC (HE-LHC) as [-0.38;0.38] ([-0.12;0.12]), [-0.21;0.21]([-0.085;0.085]), [-1.08;1.08]([-0.38;0.38]) and [-0.48;0.48]([-0.25;0.25]), respectively. They are better than the experimental limits obtained by LHC.

Evidence for the decays of $Λ^+_{c}\toΣ^+η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$

We study the hadronic decays of $Λ_{c}^{+}$ to the final states $Σ^{+}η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$, using an $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data sample of 567 pb$^{-1}$ taken at a center-of-mass energy of 4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We find evidence for the decays $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η$ and $Σ^+η^\prime$ with statistical significance of $2.5σ$ and $3.2σ$, respectively. Normalizing to the reference decays $Λ_c^+\toΣ^+π^0$ and $Σ^+ω$, we obtain the ratios of the branching fractions $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+π^0)}$ and $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η^\prime)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+ω)}$ to be $0.35 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.03$ and $0.86 \pm 0.34 \pm 0.07$, respectively. The upper limits at the 90\% confidence level are set to be $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+π^0)}<0.58$ and $\frac{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η^\prime)}{{\mathcal B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ^+ω)}<1.2$. Using BESIII measurements of the branching fractions of the reference decays, we determine $\mathcal B({Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η})=(0.41\pm0.19\pm0.05)\%$ ($<0.68\%$) and $\mathcal B({Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η'})=(1.34\pm0.53\pm0.21)\%$ ($<1.9\%$). Here, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The obtained branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\toΣ^+η$ is consistent with the previous measurement, and the branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\rightarrowΣ^{+}η^{\prime}$ is measured for the first time.

Top quark anomalous FCNC production via $tqg$ couplings at FCC-hh

We investigate the top quark anomalous Flavor Changing Neutral Current (FCNC) $tqg$ interactions to probe limits on the couplings $ζ_c$ and $ζ_u$ through the $qg \to lνb$ signal suprocess at FCC-hh collider with center of mass energy of 100 TeV. To separate signal from relevant Standard Model background processes, selection criteria based on Boosted Decision Trees (BDT) is used with a set of useful kinematic variables. The sensitivities on the anomalous top FCNC couplings $ζ_u$ and $ζ_c$ are found to be $1.239\times10^{-4}$ and $1.149\times10^{-4}$ for FCC-hh with $L_{int}$=10 ab$^{-1}$ at 95 \% C.L. including realistic detector effects of the FCC-hh baseline detector, respectively. The branchings $BR (t \to ug)$ and $BR (t \to c g)$ converted from obtained limits for FCNC couplings are at the order of $10^{-7}$ which is at least one order of magnitude better than the projected limits of HL-LHC with $L_{int}$= 3 ab$^{-1}$.

Observation and study of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrowϕηη'$

We report the observation and study of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrowϕηη'$ using $1.3\times{10^9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Its branching fraction, including all possible intermediate states, is measured to be $(2.32\pm0.06\pm0.16)\times{10^{-4}}$. We also report evidence for a structure, denoted as $X$, in the $ϕη'$ mass spectrum in the $2.0-2.1$ GeV/$c^2$ region. Using two decay modes of the $η'$ meson ($γπ^+π^-$ and $ηπ^+π^-$), a simultaneous fit to the $ϕη'$ mass spectra is performed. Assuming the quantum numbers of the $X$ to be $J^P = 1^-$, its significance is found to be 4.4$σ$, with a mass and width of $(2002.1 \pm 27.5 \pm 21.4)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(129 \pm 17 \pm 9)$ MeV, respectively, and a product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowηX)\times{}\mathcal{B}(X\rightarrowϕη')=(9.8 \pm 1.2 \pm 1.7)\times10^{-5}$. Alternatively, assuming $J^P = 1^+$, the significance is 3.8$σ$, with a mass and width of $(2062.8 \pm 13.1 \pm 7.2)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(177 \pm 36 \pm 35)$ MeV, respectively, and a product branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\rightarrowηX)\times{}\mathcal{B}(X\rightarrowϕη')=(9.6 \pm 1.4 \pm 2.0)\times10^{-5}$. The angular distribution of $J/ψ\rightarrowηX$ is studied and the two $J^P$ assumptions of the $X$ cannot be clearly distinguished due to the limited statistics. In all measurements the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Study on Anomalous Neutral Triple Gauge Boson Couplings from Dimension-eight Operators at the HL-LHC

The anomalous neutral triple gauge boson couplings (aNTGCs) for the Z gamma gamma and Z gamma Z vertices described by dimension-eight operators are examined through the process pp to l^{+}l^{-} gamma at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). We performed an analysis on transverse momentum of photon and angular distribution of charged lepton in the final state including detector effects. Sensitivity limits of the C_{\widetilde{B}W}, C_{BB} couplings are obtained at 95 % C.L. to constrain for the range [-1.88: 1.88] TeV^{-4}, [-1.47: 1.47] TeV^{-4} and [-1.14:1.14] TeV^{-4}, [-0.86: 0.86] TeV^{-4} with an integrated luminosity of 300 fb^{-1} and 3000 fb^{-1}, respectively.
