On a possible method of Casimir pressure renormalization in a ball

We propose a method of Casimir pressure renormalization for massive scalar field in a ball. This method is slightly different from the generally accepted. An alternative way of choosing the normalization point leads to an exponential pressure dependence on the mass of the field instead of an inverse polynomial dependence. The method proposed does not use the scalar quantized field in the exterior domain. This allows us to bypass the difficulties that appear when one uses the standard approach.

Einstein's Boxes: Quantum Mechanical Solution

In this paper we present a solution of the Einstein's boxes paradox by modern Quantum Mechanics in which a notion of density matrix is equivalent to a notion of a quantum state of a system. We use a secondary quantization formalism in the attempt to make a description particularly clear. The aim of this paper is to provide pedagogical help to the students of quantum mechanics.

Conditional Density Matrix: Systems and Subsystems in Quantum Mechanics

A new quantum mechanical notion -- Conditional Density Matrix -- is discussed and is applied to describe some physical processes. This notion is a natural generalization of von Neumann density matrix for such processes as divisions of quantum systems into subsystems and reunifications of subsystems into new joint systems. Conditional Density Matrix assigns a quantum state to a subsystem of a composite system under condition that another part of the composite system is in some pure state.

Systems and Subsystems in Quantum Communication

In this paper we develop the conditional density matrix formalism for adequate description of division and unificationof quantum systems. Applications of this approach to the descriptions of parapositronium, quantum teleportation and others examples are discussed.

``Cosmological'' scenario for A-B phase transition in superfluid 3He

At a very rapid superfluid transition in $^3$He, follows after a reaction with single neutron, the creation of topological defects (vortices) has recently been demonstrated in accordance with the Kibble-Zurek scenario for the cosmological analogue. We discuss here the extension of the Kibble-Zurek scenario to the case when alternative symmetries may be broken and different states nucleated independently. We have calculated the nucleation probability of the various states of superfluid $^3$He during a superfluid transition. Our results can explain the transition from supercooled $A$ phase to the $B$ phase, triggered by nuclear reaction. The new scenario is an alternative to the well-known ``baked Alaska'' scenario.
