Statistical Inspired Parton Distributions and the Violation of QPM Sum Rules

A quantum statistical parametrization of parton distributions has been considered. In this framework, the exclusion Pauli principle connects the violation of the Gottfried sum rule with the Ellis and Jaffe one, and implies a defect in the Bjorken sum rule. However, in terms of standard parametrizations of the polarized distributions a good description of the data is obtained once a large gluon polarization is provided. Interestingly, in this description there is no violation of the Bjorken sum rule.

Does One Need the Anomaly to Describe the Polarized Structure Functions?

The SLAC data on the p, d and n polarized structure functions are fairly well reproduced with and without the contribution of the anomaly. The results are compared with a previous study based mainly on SMC data. The implications on the solution of the spin-crisis are discussed.

SO(10): a possible Scenario for new Physics in the Neutrino Sector and Baryogenesis

The implications on neutrino physics and on the dynamical generation of the baryonic asymmetry of a class of $SO(10)$ non-supersymmetric models are discussed.

Energy-Charge Correlation in the $π^+π^-π^0$ Decay of $K_L$ and of Tagged Neutral Kaons

We relate the asymmetries in the charged pions energy in the decay into $π^+π^-π^0$ of $K_L$ and of the tagged neutral kaons. The former asymmetry is a given combination of $\Re(ε)$, $\Im(ε)$, and $|ε'|$. Moreover, the non-violating CP asymmetry allows a test for the $χ$PT predictions within the Zel'dovich approach for the final state interaction.

Proton Decay and Neutrino Masses in SO(10)

In the last few years physicists have been looking at $SO(10)$ GUT models with renewed attention because it has been realized that the SU(5) minimal model cannot unify the strong, electromagnetic and weak interactions in a way consistent with the experimental values of $α(M_Z)$, $\si$ and $α_S(M_Z)$. In this paper we derive lower limits on neutrino masses, relevant for cosmology and for the solar-neutrino problem, from necessary consistency conditions on a class of $SO(10)$ models with $\sq$ or $\stt$ intermediate gauge symmetry.
