The polarized Bjorken sum rule analysis: revised

We present progress in the QCD analysis of the Bjorken sum rule at low momentum transfers. We study asymptotic structure of the perturbative QCD expansion at low $Q^2$ scales based on analysis of recent accurate data on the Bjorken sum rule and available now four-loop expression for the coefficient-function $C_{Bj}(Q^2)$. We demonstrate that the standard perturbative series for $C_{Bj}(Q^2)$ gives a hint to its asymptotic nature manifesting itself in the region $Q^2 \lesssim 1$ GeV$^2$. It is confirmed by the considered integral model for the perturbative QCD correction. We extract a value of higher-twist $μ_4$ coefficient and study the interplay between higher orders and higher-twist contributions. Results of other approaches to the description of Bjorken sum rule data are discussed.

Asymmetries associated with higher twists: gauge invariance, gluonic poles and twist three

We explore the electromagnetic gauge invariance of the hadron tensor of the Drell-Yan process with one transversely polarized hadron. Due to the special role of the contour gauge for gluon fields, the prescription for the gluonic pole in the twist 3 correlator can be related to the causality prescriptions for exclusive hard processes. Because of this, we find the extra contributions, which naively do not have an imaginary phase. The single spin asymmetry for the Drell-Yan process is accordingly enhanced by the factor of two.

Gauge invariance of DVCS off an arbitrary spin hadron: the deuteron target case

Using twist 3 contributions and the relations, which emanate from the QCD equations of motion, we derive the gauge invariant amplitude for the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) off hadron with an arbitrary spin. We emphasize that our derivation is not based on a certain parametrization of the relevant hadron matrix elements of the quark(gluon) operators. As an application, we present the gauge invariant amplitude for the DVCS off spin-one hadron. Using the derived gauge invariant amplitude, the single spin asymmetry is discussed.

Lattice studies of magnetic phenomena in heavy-ion collisions

We review some experimental consequences of the presence of superstrong magnetic fields of order of the nuclear scale in noncentral heavy-ion collisions. We present lattice estimates for the strength of the Chiral Magnetic Effect (CME) for different quark flavours and argue that the dependence of the anisotropy of the distribution of emitted hadrons on their flavor content might be used as another experimental evidence of the CME. Another possible effect of superstrong magnetic field might be the observed abnormal enhancement of dilepton yield. We show that the presence of the magnetic field leads to a specific anisotropy of the dilepton emission rate.

Analyticity and sum rules for photon GPDs

The photon is explored as an object to test the applications of QCD to the perturbatively calculable collinear parton distributions. We investigate analytic properties of DVCS amplitudes and related sum rules of generalized parton distributions of the photon using as an input their earlier calculations in the leading order. The relation of these GPDs to the quintessential functions in the framework of the dual parametrization approach is also found.

Four-loop QCD analysis of the Bjorken sum rule vs data

We study the polarized Bjorken sum rule at low momentum transfers in the range $0.22<Q<1.73 {\rm GeV}$ with the four-loop N$^3$LO expression for the coefficient function $C_{\rm Bj}(α_s)$ in the framework of the common QCD perturbation theory (PT) and the singularity-free analytic perturbation theory (APT). The analysis of the PT series for $C_{\rm Bj}(α_s)$ gives a hint to its asymptotic nature manifesting itself in the region $Q<1$ GeV. It relates to the observation that the accuracy of both the three- and four-loop PT predictions happens to be at the same 10% level. On the other hand, the usage of the two-loop APT allows one to describe the precise low energy JLab data down to $Q\sim 300$ MeV and gives a possibility for reliable extraction of the higher twist (HT) corrections. At the same time, above $Q\sim 700$ MeV the APT two-loop order with HT is equivalent to the four-loop PT with HT compatible to zero and is adequate to current accuracy of the data.

Dynamical and thermal descriptions in parton distribution functions

We suggest a duality between the standard (dynamical) and statistical distributions of partons in the nucleons. The temperature parameter entering into the statistical form for the quark distributions is estimated. It is found that this effective temperature is practically the same for the dependence on longitudinal and transverse momenta and, in turn, it is close to the freeze-out temperature in high energy heavy-ion collisions.

The polarized TMDs in the covariant parton model approach

We derive relations between polarized transverse momentum dependent distribution functions (TMDs) and the usual parton distribution functions (PDFs) in the 3D covariant parton model, which follow from Lorentz invariance and the assumption of a rotationally symmetric distribution of parton momenta in the nucleon rest frame. Using the known PDF $g_{1}^{q}(x)$ as input we predict the $x$- and $\mathbf{p}_{T}$-dependence of all polarized twist-2 naively time-reversal even (T-even) TMDs.

A Gravitational Potential with Extra-dimensions and Spin Effects In Hadronic Reactions

The impact of the KK-modes in d-brane models of gravity with large compactification radii and TeV-scale quantum gravity on the hadronic potential at small impact parameters is examined. The effects of the gravitational hadronic form factors obtained from the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) on the behavior of the gravitational potential and the possible spin correlation effects are also analysed.

The relation between TMDs and PDFs in the covariant parton model approach

Using the known PDFs f_1(x) and g_1(x) as input we predict the x- and pT-dependence of all twist-2 T-even TMDs.

Gauge invariance, gluonic poles and single spin asymmetry in Drell-Yan processes

We explore the electromagnetic gauge invariance of the hadron tensor of the Drell-Yan process with one transversely polarized hadron. The special role is played by the contour gauge for gluon fields. The prescription for the gluonic pole in the twist 3 correlator is related to causality property and compared with the prescriptions for exclusive hard processes. As a result we get the extra contributions, which naively do not have an imaginary phase. The single spin asymmetry for the Drell-Yan process is accordingly enhanced by the factor of two.

DVCS off deuteron and twist three contributions

We study the deeply virtual Compton scattering off a spin-one particle, which is exemplified by the case of coherent scattering on a deuteron target. We discuss the role of twist three contributions for restoring the QED gauge invariance of the amplitude corresponding to this process. We consider both kinematical and dynamical sources of twist three generalized parton distributions.

Nonperturbative and spin effects in the central exclusive production of tensor $χ_c(2^+)$ meson

We discuss central exclusive production (CEP) of the tensor $χ_c(2^{+})$ meson in proton-(anti)proton collisions at Tevatron, RHIC and LHC energies. The amplitude for the process is derived within the $k_t$-factorisation approach. Differential and total cross sections are calculated for several unintegrated gluon distributions (UGDFs). We compare exclusive production of all charmonium states $χ_c(0^+),\,χ_c(1^+)$ and $χ_c(2^+)$. Equally good description of the recent Tevatron data is achieved both with Martin-Ryskin phenomenological UGDF and UGDF based on unified BFKL-DGLAP approach. Unlike for Higgs production, the main contribution to the diffractive amplitude of heavy quarkonia comes from nonperturbative region of gluon transverse momenta $Q_{\perp}<1\,\GeV$. At $y \approx$ 0, depending on UGDF we predict the contribution of $χ_c(1^+,2^+)$ to the $J/Ψ+ γ$ channel to be comparable or larger than that of the $χ_c(0^+)$ one. This is partially due to a significant contribution from lower polarization states $λ=0$ for $χ_c(1^+)$ and $λ=0,\,\pm 1$ for $χ_c(2^+)$ meson. Corresponding theoretical uncertainties are discussed.

Quark orbital angular momentum: can we learn about it from GPDs and TMDs?

It is known how to access information on quark orbital angular momentum from generalized parton distribution functions, in a certain specified framework. It is intuitively expected, that such information can be accessed also through transverse momentum dependent distribution functions, but not known how. Now quark models provide promising hints. Recent results are reviewed.

Quark intrinsic motion and the link between TMDs and PDFs in covariant approach

The relations between TMDs and PDFs are obtained from the symmetry requirement: relativistic covariance combined with rotationally symmetric parton motion in the nucleon rest frame. This requirement is applied in the covariant parton model. Using the usual PDFs as an input, we are obtaining predictions for some polarized and unpolarized TMDs.
