Phonon-like excitations in the two-state Bose-Hubbard model

The spectrum of phonon-like collective excitations in the system of Bose-atoms in optical lattice (more generally, in the system of quantum particles described by the Bose-Hubbard model) is investigated. Such excitations appear due to displacements of particles with respect to their local equilibrium positions. The two-level model taking into account the transitions of bosons between the ground state and the first excited state in potential wells, as well as interaction between them, is used. Calculations are performed within the random phase approximation in the hard-core boson limit. It is shown that excitation spectrum in normal phase consists of the one exciton-like band, while in the phase with BE condensate an additional band appears. The positions, spectral weights and widths of bands strongly depend on chemical potential of bosons and temperature. The conditions of stability of a system with respect to the lowering of symmetry and displacement modulation are discussed.

Energy spectrum and phase diagrams of two-sublattice hard-core boson model

The energy spectrum, spectral density and phase diagrams have been obtained for two-sublattice hard-core boson model in frames of random phase approximation approach. Reconstruction of boson spectrum at the change of temperature, chemical potential and energy difference between local positions in sublattices is studied. The phase diagrams illustrating the regions of existence of a normal phase which can be close to Mott-insulator (MI) or charge-density (CDW) phases as well as the phase with the Bose-Einstein condensate (SF phase) are built.

Spectral densities and diagrams of states of one-dimensional ionic Pauli conductor

We focus on the features of spectra and diagrams of states obtained via exact diagonalization technique for finite ionic conductor chain in periodic boundary conditions. One dimensional ionic conductor is described with the lattice model where ions are treated within the framework of "mixed" Pauli statistics. The ion transfer and nearest-neighbour interaction between ions are taken into account. The spectral densities and diagrams of states for various temperatures and values of interaction are obtained. The conditions of transition from uniform (Mott insulator) to the modulated (charge density wave state) through the superfluid-like state (similar to the state with the Bose-Einstein condensation observed in hard-core boson models) are analyzed.

Electronic Raman scattering in correlated materials: exact treatment of nonresonant, mixed, and resonant scattering with dynamical mean field theory

We solve for the electronic Raman scattering response functions on an infinite-dimensional hypercubic lattice employing dynamical mean field theory. This contribution extends previous work on the nonresonant response to include the mixed and resonant contributions. We focus our attention on the spinless Falicov-Kimball model, where the problem can be solved exactly, and the system can be tuned to go through a Mott-Hubbard-like metal-insulator transition. Resonant effects vary in different scattering geometries, corresponding to the symmetries of the charge excitations scattered by the light. We do find that the Raman response is large near the double resonance, where the transfered frequency is close to the incident photon frequency. We also find a joint resonance of both the charge-transfer peak and the low-energy peak when the incident photon frequency is on the order of the interaction strength. In general, the resonance effects can create order of magnitude (or more) enhancements of features in the nonresonant response, especially when the incident photon frequency is somewhat larger than the frequency of the nonresonant feature. Finally, we find that the resonant effects also exhibit isosbestic behavior, even in the A1g and B2g sectors, and it is most prominent when the incident photon frequency is on the order of the interaction energy.

Resonant Enhancement of Electronic Raman Scattering

We present an exact solution for electronic Raman scattering in a single-band, strongly correlated material, including nonresonant, resonant and mixed contributions. Results are derived for the spinless Falicov-Kimball model, employing dynamical mean field theory; this system can be tuned through a Mott metal-insulator transition.

Resonant Enhancement of Inelastic Light Scattering in Strongly Correlated Materials

We use dynamical mean field theory to find an exact solution for inelastic light scattering in strongly correlated materials such as those near a quantum-critical metal-insulator transition. We evaluate the results for $\textbf{q}=0$ (Raman) scattering and find that resonant effects can be quite large, and yield a triple resonance, a significant enhancement of nonresonant scattering peaks, a joint resonance of both peaks when the incident photon frequency is on the order of $U$, and the appearance of an isosbestic point in all symmetry channels for an intermediate range of incident photon frequencies.
