The old problem of the cosmological constant solved?

We formulate an approach to quantum gravity, called the ring paradigm. Gravity is mediated superluminally, and the graviton is described as a phonon on the grid of matter in the Universe. This theory has very interesting applications to cosmology and would ultimately solve the old problem of the cosmological constant. It further gives new impulses to the scalar field theories because the gravitational ring decays to some phantom field. As is obvious, we radically break the Lorentz invariance, which means that some generalization of the Haag-Lopuszanski-Sohnius theorem in quantum field theory is possible.

A long freeze is hard to achieve in the presence of matter

Certain holographic dark energy (HDE) models allow for the possibility of a ``long freeze,'' in which the scale factor evolves to a constant in the long-time limit. Here we extend previous calculations by adding a nonrelativistic matter component. The addition of a matter component tends to destroy the long freeze behavior, driving the universe to recollapse. Long freeze evolution is still possible, but only for a limited set of HDE models.

The long freeze: an asymptotically static universe from holographic dark energy

We show that some holographic dark energy models can lead to a future evolution of the universe in which the scale factor $a$ is asymptotically constant, while $\dot a \rightarrow 0$ and the corresponding energy and pressure densities also vanish. We provide specific examples of such models and general conditions that can lead to an asymptotically static universe, which we have called the ``long freeze." In some cases, such evolution can follow an arbitrarily long exponential expansion essentially identical to the asymptotic evolution of $Λ$CDM. When nonrelativistic matter is added to the holographic dark energy, it tends to destroy the long freeze behavior, driving the universe to recollapse. We show that a long freeze evolution is still possible, but only for a more limited set of HDE models.

Reconstructing FHDE with Scalar and Gauge Fields

We revisit the Fractional Holographic Dark Energy (FHDE) model to reconstruct it by means of dynamic candidates such as ($i$) Quintessence, ($ii$) K-essence, ($iii$) Dilaton, ($iv$) Yang-Mills condensate, ($v$) DBI-essence, and ($vi$) Tachyonic fields in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) Universe. In particular, the dark-energy possibilities ($i$)-($vi$) are formulated through suitable field descriptions. Being concrete, we establish a comprehensive correspondence between FHDE and suitable scalar and gauge field frameworks that co-substantiate our investigation and subsequent discussion. In more detail, we methodically compute the corresponding Equation of State (EoS) parameters and field (kinetic and potential) features for the fractional parameter ($α$) range, viz. $1<α\leq2$. Conclusively, our results show that the modifications brought by the fractional features satisfactorily enable late-time cosmic acceleration, together with avoiding quantum instabilities by preventing the EoS from entering the phantom divide i.e., $ω(z)\rightarrow-\infty$, which is a common issue in standard scalar field models without fractional dynamics (e.g., K-essence field). Our findings further indicate that fractional calculus attributes can be significant in addressing the challenges of dark-energy models by offering a robust framework to prospect late-time acceleration and properly fitting observational constraints. Notably, we find that as the fractional features start to dominate, the EoS parameter of all the effective field configurations asymptotically approaches a $Λ$CDM behaviour in the far-future limit $z\rightarrow-1$. In summary, the recent perspective introduced by FHDE \citep{Trivedi:2024inb} can indeed be cast as a promising aspirant through the use of prominent field frameworks.

Landauer's principle and information at the cosmological horizon

We show that the information loss at the cosmological apparent horizon in an expanding universe does not obey Landauer's principle for efficient information erasure. This is in contrast to what happens for black holes, where the principle is upheld exactly. We discuss about the implications this result provides for the differences between information loss at black holes and that at the cosmological apparent horizon, which we term the "Cosmological Information Paradox". We also discuss how this result may point towards incompleteness of quasi-local descriptions of energy and could also point towards different thermodynamic settings in gravitational systems and how information thermodynamics as we know it may have limits to its applicability.

On the Cosmological Constant-Graviton Mass correspondence

Relations between the graviton mass and the cosmological constant $Λ$ have led to some interesting implications. We show that in any approach which leads to a direct correlation between the graviton mass and $Λ$, either through direct substitution of gravitational coupling in dispersion relations or through the linearization of Einstein equations with massive spin-2 fields, the Compton wavelength of the graviton lies in the superhorizon scale. As a result any gravitational approaches where the graviton mass is related directly to the cosmological constant are of no observational significance.

Rips and regular future scenario with Holographic Dark Energy: A comprehensive look

Interest on the possible future scenarios the universe could have has grew substantially with breakthroughs on late-time acceleration. Holographic dark energy (HDE) presents a very interesting approach towards addressing late-time acceleration, presenting an intriguing interface of ideas from quantum gravity and cosmology. In this work we present an extensive discussion of possible late-time scenarios, focusing on rips and similar events, in a universe with holographic dark energy. We discuss these events in the realm of the generalized Nojiri-Odintsov cutoff and also for the more primitive holographic cutoffs like Hubble, particle and event horizon cutoffs. We also discuss the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics and various energy conditions in these regimes. Our work points towards the idea that it is not possible to have alternatives of the big rip consistently in the simpler HDE cutoffs, and shows the flexibility of the generalized HDE cutoff as well.

On rips and cosmological singularities in a universe merging with baby universes

Understanding the late-time acceleration of the universe and its subtleties is one of the biggest mysteries in cosmology. A lot of different approaches have been put forward to deal with this, ranging from the conventional cosmological constant to various models of dark energy and beyond. Recently one very interesting approach to explaining the late time acceleration has been put forward, where the the expansion of the universe is driven by mergers with other "baby" universes and has been shown to be quite viable as well from the point of view of recent observational data. So in this work we examine the possibility of various rip scenarios and other future cosmological singularities in such "multiversal" scenario, probing such singularities for the first time in a multi universe scenario. We examine two models of such a baby universe merging cosmology, and show that remarkably no rip scenario or future cosmological singularity is possible in such models.

The exact solution approach to warm inflation

The theory of cosmic inflation has received a great amount of deserved attention in recent years due to it's stunning predictions about the early universe. Alongside the usual cold inflation paradigm, warm inflation has garnered a huge amount of interest in modern inflationary studies. It's peculiar features and specifically different predictions from cold inflation have led to a substantial amount of literature about it. Various modified cosmological scenarios have also been studied in the warm inflationary regime. In this work, we introduce the exact solution approach for warm inflation. This approach allows one to directly study warm inflationary regime in a variety of modified cosmological scenarios. We begin by outlining our method and show that it generalizes the modified Friedmann approach of Del Campo , and reduces to the well known Hamilton-Jacobi formalism for inflation in particular limits. We also find the perturbation spectra for cosmological and tensor perturbations in the early universe, and then apply our method to study warm inflation in a Tsallis entropy modified Friedmann universe. We end our paper with some concluding remarks on the domain of applicability of our work.

Cosmological singularities in $f(T,ϕ)$ gravity

The pursuit of understanding the mysteries surrounding dark energy has sparked significant interest within the field of cosmology. While conventional approaches, such as the cosmological constant, have been extensively explored, alternative theories incorporating scalar field-based models and modified gravity have emerged as intriguing avenues. Among these, teleparallel theories of gravity, specifically the $f(T,ϕ)$ formulation, have gained prominence as a means to comprehend dark energy within the framework of teleparallelism. In this study, we investigate two well-studied models of teleparallel dark energy and examine the presence of cosmological singularities within these scenarios. Using the Goriely-Hyde procedure, we examine the dynamical systems governing the cosmological equations of these models. Our analysis reveals that both models exhibit Type IV singularities, but only for a limited range of initial conditions. These results could indicate a potential edge for teleparallel cosmological models over their other modified gravity counterparts, as the models we examine seem to be only allowing for weak singularities that too under non general conditions.

Fractional Holographic Dark Energy

Holographic dark energy theories present a fascinating interface to probe late-time cosmology, as guided by contemporary ideas about quantum gravity. In this work, we present a new holographic dark energy scenario designated Fractional Holographic Dark Energy (FHDE). This model extends the conventional framework of HDEs by incorporating specific features from fractional calculus recently applied, e.g., in cosmological settings. In this manner, we retrieve a novel form of HDE energy density. We then show how FHDE can provide a consistent picture of the evolution of the late-time universe even with the simple choice of the Hubble horizon as the IR (infrared) cutoff. We provide detailed descriptions of the cosmological evolution, showing how the fractional calculus ingredients can alleviate quite a few issues associated with the conventional HDE scenario. Concretely, we compute and plot diagrams using the Hubble horizon cutoff for HDE. The density parameters for DE and dark matter (DM), the deceleration parameter, and the DE EoS parameter indicate how the universe may evolve within our FHDE model, fitting within an appropriate scenario of late-time cosmology.

Little Rip, Pseudo Rip and bounce cosmology with generalized equation of state in non-standard backgrounds

The discovery of universe's late-time acceleration and dark energy has overseen a great deal of research into cosmological singularities and particularly future singularities. Perhaps the most extreme of such singlarities is the big rip, which has propelled a lot of work into ways of moderating it or seeking out alternatives to it and two such alternatives to the big rip are the Little rip and Pseudo rip. Another possibility to consider the far future of the universe is through bounce cosmologies, which presents its own interesting ideas. So in this work we investigate the Little rip, Pseudo rip and Bounce cosmology in non-standard cosmological backgrounds with a generalized equation of state in the presence of a viscous fluid. In particular we discuss about Chern-Simons cosmology and the RS-II Braneworld and discuss how the exotic and non-conventional nature of gravity in such cosmologies affect universal evolution in these scenarios. We find out that there are very significant differences in the behaviour of such cosmic scenarios in these universes in comparison to how they appear in the simple general relativistic universe.

New perspectives on future rip scenarios with holographic dark energy

We explore the asymptotic future evolution of holographic dark energy (HDE) models, in which the density of the dark energy is a function of a cutoff scale $L$. We develop a general methodology to determine which models correspond to future big rip, little rip, and pseudo-rip (de Sitter) evolution, and we apply this methodology to a variety of well-studied HDE models. None of these HDE models display little rip evolution, and we are able to show, under very general assumptions, that HDE models with a Granda-Oliveros cutoff almost never evolve toward a future little rip. We extend these results to HDE models with nonstandard Friedman equations and show that a similar conclusion applies: little rip evolution is a very special case that is almost never realized in such models.

Holographic dark energy with Granda-Oliveros cutoff and ansatz based approach: An extended look

Holographic dark energy models have proven to be a very interesting way to study various aspects of late-time acceleration of the universe. In this work we extensively study HDE models with the Granda-Oliveros cutoff with an ansatz based approach. We consider the Tsallis, Barrow and PLEC HDE models in this regard and consdier simple power law, emergent universe, intermediate and logamediate forms of for the universe. Studying various cosmologically interesting parameters alongside the thermodynamical aspects in these models, we show that the Logamediate models are the best fit out of the other possibilites, followed by the emergent universe model, intermediate model and the simple power law models at the very last in terms of feasibility.

Tsallis holographic dark energy with power law ansatz approach

Holographic principles have proven to be a very interesting approach towards dealing with the issues of the late-time acceleration of the universe, which has resulted in a great amount of work on holographic dark energy models. We consider one such very interesting holographic scenario, namely the Tsallis Holographic dark energy model and consider an ansatz based approach to such models. We consider three cosmological scenarios in such models, namely those with viscous , non-viscous and Chaplygin gas scenarios, discussing various crucial aspects related to these models. We discuss various crucial properties of the Tsallis model in such scenarios and see how the phantom divide is crossed in each case, but it's only the Chaplygin gas models which give a better view on stability issues.

Cosmological singularities in non-canonical models of dark energy

The pursuit of unraveling the true essence of dark energy has become an immensely captivating endeavor in modern cosmology. Alongside the conventional cosmological constant approach, a diverse range of ideas has been proposed, encompassing scalar field-based models and various modified gravity approaches. A particularly intriguing notion involves exploring scalar field dark energy models within quantum gravitationally motivated cosmologies, with non-canonical theories standing out as a prominent candidate in this context. Hence, in this work, we investigate three widely recognized non-canonical scalar field dark energy models: phantom, quintom, and DBI dark energy models. By employing the Goriely-Hyde procedure, we demonstrate the presence of singularities in both finite and infinite time within these frameworks. and that these singularities can manifest regardless of the system's initial conditions. Moreover, we further establish how cosmological singularities of types I-IV can arise in all of these models. The work goes to show that non-canonical regimes for dark energy can allow for most of the prominent cosmological singularities for a variety of models.
