On divisorial (i) classes

In this paper we introduce and study divisorial (i) classes for the blow up of projective space in several points for i=-1,0 and 1. We generalize Noether's inequality, and we prove that all divisorial (i) classes are in bijective correspondence with the orbit of the Weyl group action on one exceptional divisor following Nagata's original approach. Moreover, we prove that the irreducibility condition from the definition of divisorial (i) classes can be replaced by the numerical condition of having positive intersection with all divisorial (-1) classes of smaller degree via the Mukai pairing.

An Introduction to p-adic Hodge Theory

This survey gives an introductory review of the classical Hodge theory, arithmetic geometry and algebraic number theory that inspires p-adic Hodge theory. Basic results in this new area developed by Tate, Faltings and Scholze are presented with corresponding mathematical constructions. Some background in algebraic geometry and algebraic topology is required

Almost TQFTs via colored ribbon graphs

In this paper, we introduce ribbon TQFTs via Edge Contraction/Construction Axioms of colored ribbon graphs as an extension of the 2D TQFT axioms for ribbon graphs formulated in arXiv:1508.05922. We investigate nearly Frobenius structures and Almost TQFTs defined in arXiv:1907.05470 together with ribbon TQFTs. We give a classification result for ribbon TQFTs that extends the one obtained for Frobenius algebras in arXiv:1508.05922. In particular, the Edge Contraction/Construction Axioms of colored ribbon graphs in this work become equivalent to the functorial Axioms of TQFTs governed by the sewing principle of Atiyah and Segal discussed in arXiv:2510.03128 and arXiv:1907.05470. As an application, we obtain that the recursion of generalized Catalan numbers can be twisted by Almost TQFT for co-unital nearly Frobenius algebra.

On Nearly Frobenius Structures

Nearly Frobenius structures and 2-dimensional Almost TQFTs were introduced and shown to be in categorical equivalence in arXiv:1907.05470 in the attempt to extend the Atiyah-Segal's definition to the category of infinite dimensional vector spaces. In this paper, we investigate nearly Frobenius structures and we give a classification result for Almost TQFTs in dimension 2. In particular, the TQFTs functorial axioms become equivalent to the Edge Contraction/Construction axioms of colored ribbon graphs recently introduced by the authors.

Birational geometry of blowups via Weyl chamber decompositions and actions on curves

We study the birational geometry of $X^n_s$, the blow-up of $\mathbb{P}^n_\mathbb{C}$ at $s$ points in general position. We identify a set of subvarieties, which we call Weyl $r$-planes, that belong to an orbit for the action of the Weyl group on $r$-cycles. They satisfy the following properties: they appear as stable base locus of divisors; each Weyl $r$-plane is swept out by an $(n-r)$-moving curve class; moreover, if $s\ge n+3$, for any fixed $r$ all these curve classes belong to the same orbit for the Weyl action. For Mori dream spaces of type $X^n_s$, all such orbits are finite and they allow to reinterpret Mukai's description of the Mori chamber decomposition of the effective cone in terms of $(n-r)$-moving curve classes, unifying previous different approaches. If $X^n_s$ is not a Mori dream space, there are infinitely many Weyl $r$-planes. These yields the definition of the Weyl chamber decomposition of the pseudoeffective cone of divisors. We pose the question as to whether the nef chamber decomposition can be defined (in the negative part of $\overline{\mathrm{Eff}}(X^n_s)$) and, if this is the case, whether it coincides with the Weyl chamber decomposition. We conjecture that the answer is affirmative for $X^3_8$ and $X^5_9$.

Duality and polyhedrality of cones for Mori dream spaces

Our goal is twofold. On one hand we show that the cones of divisors ample in codimension $k$ on a Mori dream space are rational polyhedral. On the other hand we study the duality between such cones and the cones of $k$-moving curves by means of the Mori chamber decomposition of the former. We give a new proof of the weak duality property (already proved by Payne and Choi) and we exhibit an interesting family of examples for which strong duality holds.

On $(i)$-Curves in Blowups of $\mathbb{P}^r$

In this paper we study $(i)$-curves with $i\in \{-1, 0, 1\}$ in the blown up projective space $\mathbb{P}^r$ in general points. The notion of $(-1)$-curves was analyzed in the early days of mirror symmetry by Kontsevich with the motivation of counting curves on a Calabi-Yau threefold. In dimension two, Nagata studied planar $(-1)$-curves in order to construct counterexample to Hilbert's 14th problem. We introduce the notion of classes of $(0)$- and $(1)$-curves in $\mathbb{P}^r$ with $s$ points blown up and we prove that their number is finite if and only if the space is a Mori Dream Space. We further introduce a bilinear form on a space of curves, and a unique symmetric Weyl-invariant class, $F$, (that we will refer to as the anticanonical curve class). For Mori Dream Spaces we prove that $(-1)$-curves can be defined arithmetically by the linear and quadratic invariants determined by the bilinear form. Moreover, $(0)$- and $(1)$-Weyl lines give the extremal rays for the cone of movable curves in $\mathbb{P}^r$ with $r+3$ points blown up. As an application, we use the technique of movable curves to reprove that if $F^2\leq 0$ then $Y$ is not a Mori Dream Space and we propose to apply this technique to other spaces.

Weyl cycles on the blow-up of $\mathbb{P}^4$ at eight points

We define the Weyl cycles on $X^n_s$, the blown up projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$ in $s$ points in general position. In particular, we focus on the Mori Dream spaces $X^3_7$ and $X^{4}_{8}$, where we classify all the Weyl cycles of codimension two. We further introduce the Weyl expected dimension for the space of the global sections of any effective divisor that generalizes the linear expected dimension and the secant expected dimension.

Coxeter theory for curves on blowups of $\mathbb{P}^r$

We investigate the study of smooth irreducible rational curves in $Y_s^r$, a general blowup of $\mathbb{P}^r$ at $s$ general points, whose normal bundle splits as a direct sum of line bundles all of degree $i$, for $i \in \{-1,0,1\}$: we call these $(i)$-curves. We systematically exploit the theory of Coxeter groups applied to the Chow space of curves in $Y_s^r$, which provides us with a useful bilinear form that helps to expose properties of $(i)$-curves. We are particularly interested in the orbits of lines (through $1-i$ points) under the Weyl group of standard Cremona transformations (all of which are $(i)$-curves): we call these $(i)$-Weyl lines. We prove various theorems related to understanding when an $(i)$-curve is an $(i)$-Weyl line, via numerical criteria expressed in terms of the bilinear form. We obtain stronger results for $r=3$, where we prove a Noether-type inequality that gives a sharp criterion.

Interplay between opers, quantum curves, WKB analysis, and Higgs bundles

Quantum curves were introduced in the physics literature. We develop a mathematical framework for the case associated with Hitchin spectral curves. In this context, a quantum curve is a Rees $\mathcal{D}$-module on a smooth projective algebraic curve, whose semi-classical limit produces the Hitchin spectral curve of a Higgs bundle. We give a method of quantization of Hitchin spectral curves by concretely constructing one-parameter deformation families of opers. We propose a variant of the topological recursion of Eynard--Orantin and Mirzakhani for the context of singular Hitchin spectral curves. We show that a PDE version of topological recursion provides all-order WKB analysis for the Rees $\mathcal{D}$-modules, defined as the quantization of Hitchin spectral curves associated with meromorphic $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$-Higgs bundles. Topological recursion can be considered as a process of quantization of Hitchin spectral curves. We prove that these two quantizations, one via the construction of families of opers, and the other via the PDE recursion of topological type, agree for holomorphic and meromorphic $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$-Higgs bundles. Classical differential equations such as the Airy differential equation provides a typical example. Through these classical examples, we see that quantum curves relate Higgs bundles, opers, a conjecture of Gaiotto, and quantum invariants, such as Gromov--Witten invariants

Cremona Orbits in $\mathbb{P}^4$ and Applications

This article is motivated by the authors interest in the geometry of the Mori dream space $\mathbb{P}^4$ blown up in $8$ general points. In this article we develop the necessary technique for determining Weyl orbits of linear cycles for the four-dimensional case, by explicit computations in the Chow ring of the resolution of the standard Cremona transformation. In particular, we close this paper with applications to the question of the dimension of the space global sections of effective divisors having at most $8$ base points.

Mirror curve of orbifold Hurwitz numbers

Edge-contraction operations form an effective tool in various graph enumeration problems, such as counting Grothendieck's dessins d'enfants and simple and double Hurwitz numbers. These counting problems can be solved by a mechanism known as topological recursion, which is a mirror B-model corresponding to these counting problems. We show that for the case of orbifold Hurwitz numbers, the mirror objects, i.e., the spectral curve and the differential forms on it, are constructed solely from the edge-contraction operations of the counting problem in genus $0$ and one marked point. This forms a parallelism with Gromov-Witten theory, where genus 0 Gromov-Witten invariants correspond to mirror B-model holomorphic geometry.

Positivity of divisors on blown-up projective spaces, II

We construct log resolutions of pairs on the blow-up of the projective space in an arbitrary number of general points and we discuss the semi-ampleness of the strict transforms. As an application we prove that the abundance conjecture holds for an infinite family of such pairs. For $n+2$ points, these strict transforms are F-nef divisors on the moduli space $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n+3}$ in a Kapranov's model: we show that all of them are nef.

An observation on (-1)-curves on rational surfaces

We give an effective iterative characterization of the classes of (smooth, rational) (-1)-curves on the blowup of the projective plane at general points. Such classes are characterized as having self-intersection -1, arithmetic genus 0, and intersecting every (-1)-curve of smaller degree nonnegatively.

Edge contraction on dual ribbon graphs and 2D TQFT

We present a new set of axioms for 2D TQFT formulated on the category of cell graphs with edge-contraction operations as morphisms. We construct a functor from this category to the endofunctor category consisting of Frobenius algebras. Edge-contraction operations correspond to natural transformations of endofunctors, which are compatible with the Frobenius algebra structure. Given a Frobenius algebra A, every cell graph determines an element of the symmetric tensor algebra defined over the dual space A*. We show that the edge-contraction axioms make this assignment depending only on the topological type of the cell graph, but not on the graph itself. Thus the functor generates the TQFT corresponding to A.

Positivity of divisors on blown-up projective spaces, I

We study $l$-very ample, ample and semi-ample divisors on the blown-up projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$ in a collection of points in general position. We establish Fujita's conjectures for all ample divisors with the number of points bounded above by $2n$ and for an infinite family of ample divisors with an arbitrary number of points.

An invitation to 2D TQFT and quantization of Hitchin spectral curves

This article consists of two parts. In Part 1, we present a formulation of two-dimensional topological quantum field theories in terms of a functor from a category of Ribbon graphs to the endofuntor category of a monoidal category. The key point is that the category of ribbon graphs produces all Frobenius objects. Necessary backgrounds from Frobenius algebras, topological quantum field theories, and cohomological field theories are reviewed. A result on Frobenius algebra twisted topological recursion is included at the end of Part 1. In Part 2, we explain a geometric theory of quantum curves. The focus is placed on the process of quantization as a passage from families of Hitchin spectral curves to families of opers. To make the presentation simpler, we unfold the story using SL_2(\mathbb{C})-opers and rank 2 Higgs bundles defined on a compact Riemann surface $C$ of genus greater than $1$. In this case, quantum curves, opers, and projective structures in $C$ all become the same notion. Background materials on projective coordinate systems, Higgs bundles, opers, and non-Abelian Hodge correspondence are explained.

Vanishing theorems for linearly obstructed divisors

We study divisors in the blow-up of $\mathbb{P}^n$ at points in general position that are non-special with respect to the notion of linear speciality introduced in [5]. We describe the cohomology groups of their strict transforms via the blow-up of the space along their linear base locus. We extend the result to non-effective divisors that sit in a small region outside the effective cone. As an application, we describe linear systems of divisors in $\mathbb{P}^n$ blown-up at points in star configuration and their strict transforms via the blow-up of the linear base locus.
