Theory of non-lc ideal sheaves -basic properties-

We introduce the notion of non-lc ideal sheaves. It is an analogue of the notion of multiplier ideal sheaves. We establish the restriction theorem, which seems to be the most important property of non-lc ideal sheaves.

On Kawamata's theorem

We give an alternate proof of the main theorem of Kawamata's paper: Pluricanonical systems on minimal algebraic varieties. Our proof also works for varieties in class $\mathcal C$. We note that our proof is completely different from Kawamata's.

Finite generation of the log canonical ring in dimension four

We treat two different topics on the log minimal model program, especially for four-dimensional log canonical pairs. (a) Finite generation of the log canonical ring in dimension four. (b) Abundance theorem for irregular fourfolds. We obtain (a) as a direct consequence of the existence of four-dimensional log minimal models by using Fukuda's theorem on the four-dimensional log abundance conjecture. We can prove (b) only by using traditional arguments. More precisely, we prove the abundance conjecture for irregular $(n+1)$-folds on the assumption that the minimal model conjecture and the abundance conjecture hold in dimension $\leq n$.

Introduction to the log minimal model program for log canonical pairs

We describe the foundation of the log minimal model program for log canonical pairs according to Ambro's idea. We generalize Kollár's vanishing and torsion-free theorems for embedded simple normal crossing pairs. Then we prove the cone and contraction theorems for quasi-log varieties, especially, for log canonical pairs.

Vanishing theorems for toric polyhedra

A toric polyhedron is a reduced closed subscheme of a toric variety that are partial unions of the orbits of the torus action. We prove vanishing theorems for toric polyhedra. We also give a proof of the $E_1$-degeneration of Hodge to de Rham type spectral sequence for toric polyhedra in any characteristic. Finally, we give a very powerful extension theorem for ample line bundles.

$\mathbf{\bar{C}_{n,n-1}}$ revisited

The main purpose of this paper is to make $\bar{C}_{n,n-1}$, which is the main theorem of [Ka1] Y.Kawamata, Addition formula of logarithmic Kodaira dimensions for morphisms of relative dimension one, more accessible.

Equivariant completions of toric contraction morphisms

We treat equivariant completions of toric contraction morphisms as an application of the toric Mori theory. For this purpose, we generalize the toric Mori theory for non-$\mathbb Q$-factorial toric varieties. So, our theory seems to be quite different from Reid's original combinatorial toric Mori theory. We also explain various examples of non-$\mathbb Q$-factorial contractions, which imply that the $\mathbb Q$-factoriality plays an important role in the Minimal Model Program. Thus, this paper completes the foundations of the toric Mori theory and show us a new aspect of the Minimal Model Program.

On the Kleiman-Mori cone

The Kleiman-Mori cone plays important roles in the birational geometry. In this paper, we construct complete varieties whose Kleiman-Mori cones have interesting properties. First, we construct a simple and explicit example of complete non-projective singular varieties for which Kleiman's ampleness criterion does not hold. More precisely, we construct a complete non-projective toric variety $X$ and a line bundle $L$ on $X$ such that $L$ is positive on $\bar {NE}(X)\setminus \{0\}$. Next, we construct complete singular varieties $X$ with $NE(X)=N_1(X)\simeq \mathbb R^k$ for any $k$. These explicit examples seem to be missing in the literature.

Addendum to "Termination of 4-fold canonical flips"

The definition of the weighted version of difficulty in "Termination of 4-fold canonical flips" contains some errors. In this paper, we describe these errors and how to correct them. Anyway, any sequence of 4-fold canonical flips terminates.
