Tilting Cohen-Macaulay representations

This is a survey on recent developments in Cohen-Macaulay representations via tilting and cluster tilting theory. We explain triangle equivalences between the singularity categories of Gorenstein rings and the derived (or cluster) categories of finite dimensional algebras.

Silting reduction and Calabi--Yau reduction of triangulated categories

It is shown that the silting reduction $\ct/\thick\cp$ of a triangulated category $\ct$ with respect to a presilting subcategory $\cp$ can be realized as a certain subfactor category of $\ct$, and that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the set of (pre)silting subcategories of $\ct$ containing $\cp$ and the set of (pre)silting subcategories of $\ct/\thick\cp$. This is analogous to a result for Calabi-Yau reduction. This result is applied to show that Amiot-Guo-Keller's construction of $d$-Calabi-Yau triangulated categories with $d$-cluster-tilting objects takes silting reduction to Calabi-Yau reduction.

Auslander-Gorenstein algebras and precluster tilting

We generalize the notions of $n$-cluster tilting subcategories and $τ$-selfinjective algebras into $n$-precluster tilting subcategories and $τ_n$-selfinjective algebras, where we show that a subcategory naturally associated to $n$-precluster tilting subcategories has a higher Auslander--Reiten theory. Furthermore, we give a bijection between $n$-precluster tilting subcategories and $n$-minimal Auslander--Gorenstein algebras, which is a higher dimensional analog of Auslander--Solberg correspondence (Auslander--Solberg, 1993) as well as a Gorenstein analog of $n$-Auslander correspondence (Iyama, 2007). The Auslander--Reiten theory associated to an $n$-precluster tilting subcategory is used to classify the $n$-minimal Auslander--Gorenstein algebras into four disjoint classes. Our method is based on relative homological algebra due to Auslander--Solberg.

Derived categories of $N$-complexes

We study the homotopy category $\mathsf{K}_{N}(\mathcal{B})$ of $N$-complexes of an additive category $\mathcal{B}$ and the derived category $\mathsf{D}_{N}(\mathcal{A})$ of an abelian category $\mathcal{A}$. First we show that both $\mathsf{K}_N(\mathcal{B})$ and $\mathsf{D}_N(\mathcal{A})$ have natural structures of triangulated categories. Then we establish a theory of projective (resp., injective) resolutions and derived functors. Finally, under some conditions of an abelian category $\mathcal{A}$, we show that $\mathsf{D}_{N}(\mathcal{A})$ is triangle equivalent to the ordinary derived category $\mathsf{D}(\mathsf{Morph}_{N-2}(\mathcal{A}))$ where $\mathsf{Morph}_{N-2}(\mathcal{A})$ is the category of sequential $N-2$ morphisms of $\mathcal{A}$.

Auslander-Gorenstein algebras from Serre-formal algebras via replication

We introduce a new family of algebras, called Serre-formal algebras. They are Iwanaga-Gorenstein algebras for which applying any power of the Serre functor on any indecomposable projective module, the result remains a stalk complex. Typical examples are given by (higher) hereditary algebras and self-injective algebras; it turns out that other interesting algebras such as (higher) canonical algebras are also Serre-formal. Starting from a Serre-formal algebra, we consider a series of algebras - called the replicated algebras - given by certain subquotients of its repetitive algebra. We calculate the self-injective dimension and dominant dimension of all such replicated algebras and determine which of them are minimal Auslander-Gorenstein, i.e. when the two dimensions are finite and equal to each other. In particular, we show that there exist infinitely many minimal Auslander-Gorenstien algebras in such a series if, and only if, the Serre-formal algebra is twisted fractionally Calabi-Yau. We apply these results to a construction of algebras from Yamagata, called SGC extensions, given by iteratively taking the endomorphism ring of the smallest generator-cogenerator. We give a sufficient condition so that the SGC extensions and replicated algebras coincide. Consequently, in such a case, we obtain explicit formulae for the self-injective dimension and dominant dimension of the SGC extension algebras.

On steady non-commutative crepant resolutions

We introduce special classes of non-commutative crepant resolutions (= NCCR) which we call steady and splitting. We show that a singularity has a steady splitting NCCR if and only if it is a quotient singularity by a finite abelian group. We apply our results to toric singularities and dimer models.

$τ$-tilting finite algebras, bricks and $g$-vectors

The class of support $τ$-tilting modules was introduced to provide a completion of the class of tilting modules from the point of view of mutations. In this article we study $τ$-tilting finite algebras, i.e. finite dimensional algebras $A$ with finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable $τ$-rigid modules. We show that $A$ is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if very torsion class in $\mod A$ is functorially finite. We observe that cones generated by $g$-vectors of indecomposable direct summands of each support $τ$-tilting module form a simplicial complex $Δ(A)$. We show that if $A$ is $τ$-tilting finite, then $Δ(A)$ is homeomorphic to an $(n-1)$-dimensional sphere, and moreover the partial order on support $τ$-tilting modules can be recovered from the geometry of $Δ(A)$. Finally we give a bijection between indecomposable $τ$-rigid $A$-modules and bricks of $A$ satisfying a certain finiteness condition, which is automatic for $τ$-tilting finite algebras.

Gorenstein modifications and $\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein rings

Let $R$ be a Cohen--Macaulay normal domain with a canonical module $ω_R$. It is proved that if $R$ admits a noncommutative crepant resolution (NCCR), then necessarily it is $\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein. Writing $S$ for a Zariski local canonical cover of $R$, then a tight relationship between the existence of noncommutative (crepant) resolutions on $R$ and $S$ is given. A weaker notion of Gorenstein modification is developed, and a similar tight relationship is given. There are three applications: non-Gorenstein quotient singularities by connected reductive groups cannot admit an NCCR, the centre of any NCCR is log-terminal, and the Auslander--Esnault classification of two-dimensional CM-finite algebras can be deduced from Buchweitz--Greuel--Schreyer.

Noncommutative resolutions using syzygies

Given a noether algebra with a noncommutative resolution, a general construction of new noncommutative resolutions is given. As an application, it is proved that any finite length module over a regular local or polynomial ring gives rise, via suitable syzygies, to a noncommutative resolution.

Higher Auslander correspondence for dualizing $R$-varieties

Let $R$ be a commutative artinian ring. We extend higher Auslander correspondence from Artin $R$-algebras of finite representation type to dualizing $R$-varieties. More precisely, for a positive integer $d$, we show that a dualizing $R$-variety is $d$-abelian if and only if it is a $d$-Auslander dualizing $R$-variety if and only if it is equivalent to a $d$-cluster-tilting subcategory of the category of finitely presented modules over a dualizing $R$-variety.

Lifting preprojective algebras to orders and categorifying partial flag varieties

We describe a categorification of the cluster algebra structure of multi-homogeneous coordinate rings of partial flag varieties of arbitrary Dynkin type using Cohen-Macaulay modules over orders. This completes the categorification of Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer by adding the missing coefficients. To achieve this, for an order $A$ and an idempotent $e \in A$, we introduce a subcategory $\operatorname{CM}\nolimits_e A$ of $\operatorname{CM}\nolimits A$ and study its properties. In particular, under some mild assumptions, we construct an equivalence of exact categories $(\operatorname{CM}\nolimits_e A)/[Ae] \cong \operatorname{Sub}\nolimits Q$ for an injective $B$-module $Q$ where $B := A/(e)$. These results generalize work by Jensen-King-Su concerning the cluster algebra structure of the Grassmannian $\operatorname{Gr}\nolimits_m(\mathbb{C}^n)$.

Polygon of recollements and $N$-complexes

We study a structure of subcategories which are called a polygon of recollements in a triangulated category. First, we study a $2n$-gon of recollements in an $(m/n)$-Calabi-Yau triangulated category. Second, we show the homotopy category $\mathsf{K}(\mathsf{Mor}_{N-1}(\mathcal{B}))$ of complexes of an additive category $\mathsf{Mor}_{N-1}(\mathcal{B})$ of $N-1$ sequences of split monomorphisms of an additive category $\mathcal{B}$ has a $2N$-gon of recollments. Third, we show the homotopy category $\mathsf{K}_{N}(\mathcal{B})$ of $N$-complexes of $\mathcal{B}$ has also a $2N$-gon of recollments. Finally, we show there is a triangle equivalence between $\mathsf{K}(\mathsf{Mor}_{N-1}(\mathcal{B}))$ and $\mathsf{K}_{N}(\mathcal{B})$.

Tilting bundles on orders on $P^d$

We introduce a class of orders on $P^d$ called Geigle-Lenzing orders and show that they have tilting bundles. Moreover we show that their module categories are equivalent to the categories of coherent sheaves on Geigle-Lenzing spaces introduced in Herschend, Iyama, Minamoto and Oppermann.

Lattice structure of torsion classes for path algebras

We consider module categories of path algebras of connected acyclic quivers. It is shown in this paper that the set of functorially finite torsion classes form a lattice if and only if the quiver is either Dynkin quiver of type A, D, E, or the quiver has exactly two vertices.

Stable categories of Cohen-Macaulay modules and cluster categories

By Auslander's algebraic McKay correspondence, the stable category of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a simple singularity is equivalent to the $1$-cluster category of the path algebra of a Dynkin quiver (i.e. the orbit category of the derived category by the action of the Auslander-Reiten translation). In this paper we give a systematic method to construct a similar type of triangle equivalence between the stable category of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a Gorenstein isolated singularity $R$ and the generalized (higher) cluster category of a finite dimensional algebra $Λ$. The key role is played by a bimodule Calabi-Yau algebra, which is the higher Auslander algebra of $R$ as well as the higher preprojective algebra of an extension of $Λ$. As a byproduct, we give a triangle equivalence between the stable category of graded Cohen-Macaulay $R$-modules and the derived category of $Λ$. Our main results apply in particular to a class of cyclic quotient singularities and to certain toric affine threefolds associated with dimer models.

Intermediate co-t-structures, two-term silting objects, tau-tilting modules, and torsion classes

If (A,B) and (A',B') are co-t-structures of a triangulated category, then (A',B') is called intermediate if A \subseteq A' \subseteq ΣA. Our main results show that intermediate co-t-structures are in bijection with two-term silting subcategories, and also with support tau-tilting subcategories under some assumptions. We also show that support tau-tilting subcategories are in bijection with certain finitely generated torsion classes. These generalise results by Adachi, Iyama, and Reiten.

Frobenius categories, Gorenstein algebras and rational surface singularities

We give sufficient conditions for a Frobenius category to be equivalent to the category of Gorenstein projective modules over an Iwanaga-Gorenstein ring. We then apply this result to the Frobenius category of special Cohen-Macaulay modules over a rational surface singularity, where we show that the associated stable category is triangle equivalent to the singularity category of a certain discrepant partial resolution of the given rational singularity. In particular, this produces uncountably many Iwanaga-Gorenstein rings of finite GP type. We also apply our method to representation theory, obtaining Auslander-Solberg and Kong type results.

Singular Derived Categories of Q-factorial terminalizations and Maximal Modification Algebras

Let X be a Gorenstein normal 3-fold satisfying (ELF) with local rings which are at worst isolated hypersurface (e.g. terminal) singularities. By using the singular derived category D_{sg}(X) and its idempotent completion, we give necessary and sufficient categorical conditions for X to be Q-factorial and complete locally Q-factorial respectively. We then relate this information to maximal modification algebras(=MMAs), introduced in [IW10], by showing that if an algebra A is derived equivalent to X as above, then X is Q-factorial if and only if A is an MMA. Thus all rings derived equivalent to Q-factorial terminalizations in dimension three are MMAs. As an application, we extend some of the algebraic results in Burban-Iyama-Keller-Reiten [BIKR] and Dao-Huneke [DH] using geometric arguments.
